The utterly dysfunctional pairing of German siblings Otto and Astrid Rot became an instant household name in Europe after topping the charts in Germany and Poland with their 2005 hits I'm in a Band" and "Best Band in the World." Sponsored by Philips Electronics North America and presented by Spoleto Festival USA. Approximately one hour 20 minutes.
Not your grandma's Spoleto event
Siblings Otto and Astrid Rot will perform tracks from their third album, Kunst Rock, and bicker like any proper brother and sister would. The festival officially lists the act as music theater. Well, it's not like they have a punk rock category (we can only dream ...).
They're huge in Europe
Their homeland of Germany helped the duo's "I'm in a Band" and "Best Band in the World" reach the top of the charts. Keep an ear out for other hits, like "Ich Bin Nicht Ein Roboter (I Am Lion)" and "Burger Store Dinosaur."
We're going to be friends
Just because they stick to a color palate of red, black, and white, play guitar and drums, and have an admittedly similar name (it translates to "The Red Dots") doesn't mean the band deserves instant White Stripes comparisons. They're closer to the Ramones than to garage rock, and Jack and Meg technically weren't even related by blood (nor do they have any sense of humor to speak of).
