Skillful singer/guitarist and classic pop fanatic Frank Royster — a solo performer, and member of local bar-rock/British Invasion cover band The Hed Shop Boys — steps up as ringleader this Friday for home-grown Beatles tribute band, Sgt. Submarine, through two sets of Fab Four faves and deep cuts at the Windjammer. Under the title Magical Mystery Show, Royster welcomes members of The Hed Shop Boys, The Fire Apes, The Explorers Club, 351 Cleveland, The Problems, and other local bands on stage Fri. Nov. 20 at 10 p.m. Local synth-pop act Tex! (a.k.a. Paolo Licciardi) performs an electronic medley between the two Beatles sets. An encore performance is set for Sat. Nov. 28 at Wet Willie’s on East Bay Street as well. Royster’s known for his habitual, spot-on renditions of Wings and Lennon solo tunes, too, so beware. —T. Ballard Lesemann

This show is a must-see! As an avid fan of Mr. Royster's many projects, I must say any set he plays in, from his open-mic nights at Wolftrack, to his Beatles' Brunches at Nectar, are absolutely an enjoyable experience. Ever charismatic, never a disappointment... do yourself a favor and immerse yourself in the amazing talent of Frank Royster and friends.
