Zee...I love you, you love me we're a happy family. Please share some of whatever you are schmokin brosef, we could use it today. Puff puff pass!!!
zee, what in the flying fuck are you talking about. Shut up about Palestine. This is a local free news paper site, not USA today.
Yeah, someone with little to no experience and no college degree getting paid $15 an hour with a Cadillac benefits plan is really getting screwed. Most of the people I know who have gone to work there on the factory floor that have some experience are in the $20 per hour range and up to start. The management and professional level folks that I know are also getting paid very well, especially for the area.
I talked to a long term Boeing hourly employee last night about this article and he said the Boeing plant that he worked at in the south west dealt with this all of the time and never went union. He said that based on what he has seen here the union is doing what has become the the thing they do best, waste time and money. Whether the employees there join a union or not is up to them but they will end up getting less in their pockets and the company will no look at this site as the go to location to move production and other parts of the business to.
Boeing came here to get away from the unions, no matter what they say.
If the unions follow them here, exactly why would they want to stay, when the products of the local school systems can't even pass Boeing's employment exam?
Mark my words, if the unions get to the Boeing employees here they will no longer have jobs because Boeing will shut down and leave.
Next stop: probably somewhere overseas.
People in South Carolina deserve to be poor if they think unions are a bad thing.
There is a war in Palestine, and Isis is beheading everyone in their own lands with united states made weapons. Just wait till they start killing marines abroad like in Benghazi (or converting them to Islam) and soon your families will mourn just like my family at these wars and the death they have caused. Then these drunk people might stop going out to schmooze every night. Maybe then the drunks will wake up and realize that for a very select few that make profits off of weapons sales, our politicians (like Lyndsey graham)have destroyed our american dream while betraying the world with security lies.
Just to bring us factory slave work like Verizon wireless call centers and Boeing.
The drunks look like tracked and tagged animals from Google maps I'm sure. Get em boys.
They don't protest. They don't organize. They don't produce anything but sales and income tax. They don't think unions are good because a cowboy in a commercial told them. They are just cattle anyways. Raises off of barney the dinosaur just to become barney from the Simpsons. This is the future we deserve as modern day indentured servants/taxpayers. I hope the company store(Walmart) doesn't raise the price of milk again! This paper we earn from the coal mine won't stretch out as far.
If you don't like it then don't watch it. It's that simple. I enjoyed it. Helps me relax. My hectic days make me crave simpler mindless things sometimes. I don't always have to or want to put National Geographic or the news on. I just need to chill once in a while. Also makes me feel better about myself and not being born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I will take my life any day over theirs but it's kind of fun to watch. I got the feeling they were a rather bored bunch and always needed something money could buy to relieve it. Thomas Ravenel is not the brightest one of the bunch but it was nice seeing his boyish soft side come out on occasion. Although he seemed shallow there is more to him than you think. I for one will miss him second season. Anyway scripted or not who cares. Lets face it, this is nothing but simple entertainment and everything out there doesn't have to be every ones cup of tea! Bring on season II! Like I said before if you don't like it don't watch it!
Please,please,please put in a gluten-free fryer ala King Daddy's.
Nikki Haley is a proud member of the Republican Governors Association. She may not call it a union, but a group that is formed to promote its members sure sounds like a union.
I was in the Mt Pleasant restaurant... place smelled like dirty mop water, my arms stuck to the table. Got up and left- pronto!
Well, that explains why there are so many arrests for public intoxication on Charleston's streets. The Mayor and the Popo are loading the deck!
The popo just way wrong! 21 year old trying to do what he has been told to do when being "overserved" (all credit to T-Rav) and police acting like hes a small time criminal. Meh....I can't tell you what street I am while visiting in Mt. P many times and thats when I am sober. I know where I am going just not the street name. Guess I better keep my map up and running on my phone perpetually in case the authorities need to know. Ridic....real ridic...
NO MORE TACOS! NO MORE TACOS! TACO MORATORIUM NOW! Sir Charles, its already out of hand, with a new one opening weekly. What can we do to get this proposal before the Ministry of Silly Rules and Regulations aka City Council before we are all mexed out? Sean Brock and Cilantro? Why? The taco bandwagon arrived here 3 years ago (3 years later than the rest of the US) why get on it now? Lets all tell Joe say yes to beer and booze and a big no to more tacos.
I was once uneducated and ignorant about unions....until I checked out these websites
Unions are in decline- FACT! We can all agree to that, as stated in an earlier comment. So it’s fair to say the decline of unions is the reason the middle class has declined as well since unions are what has kept middle class wages and benefits for working families, or you think it’s something else that has caused the economic decline of the middle class? Maybe like free trade deals instead of fair trade deals like unions fought for and lost? More non-union jobs went overseas then good union jobs- FACT! There is nothing else out there to provide a voice for workers but unions. Not even non-union jobs can compete with 3 dollar an hour wages or less. If unions are on the “downcline” why are companies shipping these jobs overseas? If unions are not relevant anymore, then why ship jobs to other countries? It’s because being a profitable company is not enough anymore. Have we not learned anything watching mega companies accumulate piles of cash over the past decade, more cash than at any other time in history- FACT! Among all the great perks the great state of South Carolina provided Boeing they probably love the non-union part the most. Workers at the Boeing plant are starting to realize their labor is valuable, Why should somebody be told they have to be the lowest paid worker in the aerospace industry because they happen to live in South Carolina? Because you live in South Carolina you have to work 30 days straight and be told when you can go home. Because you live in South Carolina you are subjected to being dismissed without cause. That is an insult!! God help the guy or girl who through years of service to the company moved up the pay scale. But now because they are getting a little slower in the plant, but still working hard each day, find themselves on the unemployment line replaced by a twenty year old making 15 bucks an hour because management decides Sally is making more then she is worth. It’s wrong to say somebody who is willing to exercise their protected right to organize into a union is wrong. Listen, Boeing deserves the right to make as much money as possible on behalf of their shareholders but that scale is tipped too far and workers must be at the table to share in the success. The C.E.O has a written contract. The Vice Presidents all have contracts. Why not the workers at Boeing? We all want Boeing to be successful, but profit over people is running amuck because of the decline of unions. Back to my original point - So we can agree that the decline in wages is related to the lack of unions? Just recently Canada passed us on the rating of middle class citizens, and no I don’t want to move to Canada. Soon other countries will pass us as well while unions and the middle class life-style continue to decline. Is that the kind of society we want to live in?
Mat has made some idiotic comments in the past but this definitely takes the cake. At least there is no worry about anyone ever having to depend on him for a livelihood.
Political correctness run amok? No, David Aylor, wrong buzzword. This is a lack of situational awareness (not understanding that it was clearly fiction) and zero tolerance (any mention of guns up to and including L-shaped Pop Tarts are treated as criminal threats) colliding. I mean, honestly, didn't anyone consider that if someone's actual pet dinosaur not only existed but was killed in cold blood it would have at least been a locally trending topic on twitter?
So, since this is a scholastic environment, what's the lesson, folks? Yep, that's right: never say jack sh*t to a police officer other than identifying yourself if s/he asks. Stay calm and silent, no matter how absurd the accusation against you is. You have the right to remain silent, so exercise it.
"Hailing a cab isn't safe? Talking loudly isn't safe? Stepping off of sidewalks isn't safe? Jaywalking, of course, is actually unlawful and is obviously unsafe."
All this seems to be perfectly fine with the police when it is tourists doing it down around the fountains near the battery.
Complete abuse of power! This guy is asking for help. He IS NOT attempting to drive drunk, pick a fight with anyone, passed out in the road. ...he is trying to do the right thing. And they wonder why people have such disrespect for the police!
"Profits are immoral, there's really no argument on that."
Actually, there is plenty of argument on that. I own my own business, and live off of the profits of that business, and have for many years.
Better perhaps I should live off of the government?
And before you start the "yeah but you live off of the work of your underpaid employees nonsense", I have none.
What's really immoral is demanding more money than your job is worth, hence driving your employer out of business.
