Re: “A chat with "Drunk History" creator Derek Waters inside a van outside The Royal American

Happypessimist, I am not special and I don't wish to be. I am simply a a transplant who has lived in many different cities (and a couple countries), that finds history very interesting. People just don't seem to find history and stories interesting today like they used to long before I was born. I guess the moral of the story is don't assume I don't have in depth knowledge of this area because I wasn't born here, and I won't assume that I know more than you based off of my general experiences with natives and history.

Re: “A chat with "Drunk History" creator Derek Waters inside a van outside The Royal American

Jaxx, I don't really know what your problem is, but again you know nothing about me. I have done far more than tour or read a book. I never called you anything directly. I said that your post made you sound like a bitter asshole. And your continuous assumptions about me are ironic, as it is exactly what you have accused me of doing. I have worked in the service industry, so I have met many locals. How long do I have to live here to be allowed to have a personal opinion on the average people here, Jaxx? 10 years? 20 years? 80 years? How old are you and what sort of native Charlestonians have you been hanging out with? Honest question, cause most of the people I have met don't even know the original names of many popular locations around this area. They couldn't even tell you what Gullah is, beyond a type of food. Also, I am not sure how anything you have wrote here is constructive. Not even this thread, but many other ones included. Granted, I generally agree with many of your smart ass comments, and join in with similar opinions, but I haven't seen much substance in your posts. Anyways, I am sorry I have hurt your native pride. 'Twas not my intention. I was simply stating that the general population in this area doesn't give a shit about the past. I never claimed to know more than all natives, but I actually do care about the past, including passed down stories. Now, can we hug it out and get over it?

HP do you teach? Please tell me yes. I am quite afraid that you are too smart and rational to be allowed to mingle with the general population at large here. You actually make sense and you know how we do not like that....not at all! Common sense confuses us and throws us off track.
You are right about the Ganders. They never see it coming till its their own neck being wrung.

Re: “Lobster Roll Call: The best decapod deals in town

I am on my way to Red's with a Mt. P buddy for a bucket of brews and a 10 buck lobster roll. If you don't hear from us.....send help or call EMS. If Red's is no good then we are heading over to MuddinMtP's house as that is the P-town version of lobster roll (and the best).

Re: “Lobster Roll Call: The best decapod deals in town

So based on my Restaurant Impossible/Bar Rescue experience of selling items at 3x cost, the Lobster roll is super good deal, actually, even at the Ordinary, which is my vote of least reasonable restaurant outside of the Market.

And $9.95 for a Red's Lobster Roll? That sounds scary and cheap!

Re: “Lobster Roll Call: The best decapod deals in town

What sucks is that all of these Lobster Rolls are the cold lobster salad type (dab of mayo, maybe some celery). No one down here does a Hot Connecticut/Rhode Island Style Lobster Roll - toasted split top bun, hot lobster meat, side of melted butter. Now THAT's truly a decadent, awesome treat. (So I just make them at home)

Re: “Jerusalem Mart & Deli brings the flavors of Palestine to North Charleston

Every restaurant review should contain germane references to political strife and/or historic turmoil.

Example: "While the crust at Monza is cooked to a crisp perfection, I couldn't help but feel the weight of mid-century Italian fascism and present-day soccer hooligan racism come crushing down on my shoulders. Great restaurant."

Re: “Jerusalem Mart & Deli brings the flavors of Palestine to North Charleston

Make sure you don't shop at this Palestinian's store... he sympathizes with Palestinians! He's sad that a family member was murdered... what an outrage.

Seriously, Lynnar: thank you for unshrouding this injustice. A Palestinian that sees things through a Palestinian lens; what will they think of next? Your local, Jewish friends and associates will appreciate you blowing the lid off of this one.

On a more serious note: are you actually upset that the City Paper ran this? Or would you prefer to have inadvertently handed over even a single penny to this man that sympathizes with Palestinians? Now you know... now everyone can know. If it was an injustice to anyone, it seems that CCP has allowed Abukhdair to torpedo his own business because of his personal views.
