Chris, if you need an antidote to Lachenmann's Little Match Girl, give a listen to David Lang's Little Match Girl Passion. You'll feel much better.
By the way, did you see Heidi Waleson's line in the Wall Street Journal?
"Helmut Lachenmann’s “The Little Match Girl” was the real period piece of the three"
Hey lynnar, where are you from again? I missed it the first 10 times...
JD is a weasel !!!!!
I wrote my comment on the other review. We obviously have different tastes. And being from NYC and seeing some of the greats who no longer are with us? I did not like this music at all. Good musicians, yes. I know the difference. Seeing someone like Herbie Hancock and improvising was magic to me. This was not magic. Seeing his sax player, playing solo on the Carnegie Hall stage was something I will never forget. Altho I am into more classic jazz and Latin and Brazilian, this was just not easy on the ears. There would be no way i would recommend this trio to anyone. Give me a Jobim CD any day of the week.....
C'mon, what no Miles Davis or Shelly Manne?
and Nina Simone!
Hahahahaha. The only people on a payroll are the cast and crew of Southern Charm. They are simply dreadful actors.....but actors they are nonetheless. The entire show is staged for your viewing pleasure and the drama is pure fiction, based 100% on soap opera bullshit. All of these silly twits are not as simple minded as they appear. I believe Whiney has a future directing soaps and that SC should be on at 1 PM time slot following some other soap One life to die or Not my children or whatevs. Thanks for the synopsis SB.
Apparently your on Patricia and Whitney payroll, Craig is right.
Completely iLL planning indeed!
Tricera Coffee has a bathroom and is really close to the cistern!
Maybe Spoleto needs more corporate sponsors.
A little too late for that info this year. Remind us again right before it happens next year, how about it? I actually discovered this myself after looking online at tix one morning and then finding them higher at the box office that same afternoon.
Gershwin was white. Born in NY. Died in LA. And wrote his play on Folly. What does this have to do with diamonds on the peninsula ? are tourists really this stupid?
Footlight Players performed the opera in 2012 at the Dock Street (you guys reviewed it), so saying it hasn't been performed in town in a generation is not accurate.
Well, I for one get a kick out of watching the show. I love this column. I got two friends to watch the show and they are hooked. So what? Nothing to be ashamed of. We all find it addicting. And trust me, we all hv pretty high IQ's. I watch PBS, I grew up in NYC my whole life and a recent transplant. I'm well read. Cultured. Bottom line, just because one likes the show, does not mean one is a dummy. I am enjoying the dynamic that the boys have. I too am enjoying Shep this season. As I have mentioned before, he is a smart guy. I can tell by his vocabulary and the way he puts complete sentences together:) Whitney comes out with some good one liners too. But he gets that from Patricia. Let's face it, Whitney had an excellent education. He maybe a snob, but I feel he would be interesting to talk with. For me anyway. He actually did a very good documentary called ULTRASUEDE : IN SEARCH OF HALSTON. I had caught it on SHO, before Southern Charm even started. I actually thought it was pretty good. I had no idea who this guy was when I watched it. But I thought he had done a good job and got the essence of the 70's and 80's. He got an interview with Liza Minelli and she started him on his quest. He used great disco music. Watching this show, I found out that Patricia has a huge Halston collection..it got me inspired to look for a Halston ultrasuede wrap dress on EBAY. No such luck yet. But I am determined..haha. So I give Whitney some points for doing that film.
Once again I agree with Stacey. Whitney has to get over it. Shep was a great host and planned the weekend so well. And he has a great attitude. I loved when he was on the phone with Whitney, convincing him to allow Craig to come to LA. I found it very funny. What I like about guys, is they are forgiving. Not like us dames, who are the worst when it comes to arguing. My goodness. I am more like the guys....but I have experienced disagreements with some women thru the years that were the worst...they make mountains out of molehills. Can't wait till next week....
You make me snort laugh!
And for Whitney to imply in any which way that having children out of wedlock makes you such a horrible person is absolutely repulsive. A lot of people don't do that by choice and I don't want to say whose fault it is in this situation but I really feel like he's putting a lot of the blame on Catherine and he is harboring a grudge. Craig is absolutely right
I think Craig knows exactly what he's talking about and we all saw the clip where his snobby ass mother was scooping up clothes out of the room telling the help to take it to the laundry room and he said those are Catherines clothes a one night stand does not leave a whole bunch of clothes at his house in his room. So there's more to the story than what's being told maybe he's not still in love with her but that means he's still hurt by what happened and I think that stuff opinion about everything is absolutely ridiculous and she's getting on my last nerve
I watch the show for the sole reason of reading these recaps. They are everything.
As a newbie to the series too, I gotta admit I am finding myself really starting to like Shep. He has really got a mature attitude underneath it all (he hides it well!) He planned the whole weekend in the mountains perfectly with a well thought out plan from accomodations to the menu and transportation. Really an excellent host and he knows there is a time and a place to speak your mind and times to just remain silent. Above and beyond he is magnanimous to forgive and forget everyone from Kathryn to Craig. I also do not blame Craig for telling Whitney to knock off the obnoxious commentary about Kathryn in order to soothe his bruised ego. No one stays so vehemently opposed to someone without a reason and his whining and profane objections to Kathryns' behavior is begining to sound like a broken record. Camerans' new pet project is helping Whitney to protect his bruised ego at all costs. Ridiculous! Earth to Whitney, best advice, man up to the truth and get over it!
I look forward to your column each Tuesday. I have to admit I watch the show at my convenience. I cannot help myself. I do not ordinarily watch "reality" except those that involve fishing. You do a wonderful job.
