I have become addicted to the food trucks, such good food and nice people.
Bravo, Mr. Moss. Well stated and pitch perfect for the time.
There is a very fine and very inexpensive taco truck on Johns Island called Taqueria La Michoacana. I have had several fine lunches sitting on a tree stump next to the truck. You can find it along Betsy Kerrison Parkway or in the lot in front of El Merzadito & Taqueria 3575 Maybank Hwy
Here's a review from yelp* with which I wholeheartedly agree.
woohoo! This is as good as it gets!... in taco trucks on the East Coast. The very nice Sra. Patricia, who single-handedly runs the taco truck from 11AM-3PM Mon-Sat year-round has THE most delicious tacos and quesadillas I've tasted on the East Coast, She offers tacos de pollo, de carne asada, al pastor and de lengua AND she has the REAL Coca Cola from Mexico (made with cane sugar, not corn syrup) to go with them. She also has tortas, but I don't do tortas, so no comment there. Each plate comes garnished with one of the most succulent roasted jalapenos you will ever taste. She also has a nice picnic table with a tent over it so you don't have to eat standing up if you don't want to.
When we visited today there were three real Mexicans eating there, plus two white folks from the local high rent district. This is not your mob scene taco truck, but boy is the food good.
I lived in various parts of Mexico for three years and ate many tacos there and I can say with full confidence that if you like tacos and you happen to be in this remote area of SC, GO FOR IT.
"This day in late May" how damn long could it have realy taken to write this article, 3 months?!
There's an app for that.
This is an outstanding, insightful, and brutally honest article - nice job!
Some of these food trucks don't help themselves by failing to regularly update their Facebook/Twitter pages.
Take Strada Cucina for example - their Facebook and Twitter pages are full of multi-day gaps with no info...
Re: “Hunting down food trucks has become a popular sport”
@Charleston Native, Strada Cucina updates their facebook page everytime that they do an event or goes to a location. Unfortunately, at this time that is not everyday. However we are hoping to change that ASAP. Thanks
