Re: “Eat This Tonight: Soft shell crab and fresh veggies

And the Hush "Piggies" are amazing (Grocery)... Crispy-fried nuggets of Geechee Boy cornmeal with bits of Chorizo- heavenly when dipped into the side of avocado crema. Great combo of flavors, textures and temperatures and godawfully tasty-- like crack for fat boys!

Soft shells 3-ways at The Grocery is outstanding- pricy, but worth every morsel!

Re: “Eat This Tonight: Soft shell crab and fresh veggies

I had soft shells yesterday at Poogans Porch and surprisingly they were really good. 2 large soft shells served over a bed of arugula salad tossed with a light citrus vinaigrette.

Re: “A look inside the Ordinary

Ate there last week. Overpriced, limited menu, noisy. They were out of lobster rolls and short of ice for seafood tower. Place was packed with people. Portions were small. I paid a lot and went home very hungry. Riduculous prices. I might stop back in for a drink at the bar, but never again to eat. For oysters..I will go back to Pearlz instead.. Best restaurant? Uh-uh. Vey Ordinary...except for the cost of the food. And I love love love FIG...go to FIG instead.

Re: “Eat This Tonight: Seasonal veggie plates and salads

Ate at crust Thursday nite. Very disappointed. Hardly anyone in there, took forever to get served. Even longer to get food. When finally arrived, possibly the saddest pie this side of the Connector I have ever had. Looks like it may go the way of savory sushi....

Re: “Eat This Tonight: Golden tilefish, pork chops, grits, and brussels sprouts

I went to Folly last night and had the best meal I've had in a while at The 'Wich Doctor. I had their Shad last year and it was great, but the Ouzo reduction on this one had me licking the plate.Holy crap. Can't wait to see what other people do with Shad, bacon grease and Grits is so over done.We also had the Chicken Liver Torta and the Smore Sandwich.I'm contemplating going back to try the rest.

Re: “Eat This Tonight: A romantic dinner for two

What has happened to High Cotton? It has been our favorite restaurant to YEARS but we have been so disappointed the last five or six times there. Are the other Maverick restaurants still as good? THANKS!

Re: “A look inside the Ordinary

I just heard a horrible review, stating the food was disappointing. Not a good start.

Re: “A look inside the Ordinary

If charging $6.00 for a very small beer and $30.00 per dozen for oysters is supposed to make the locals happy, the "locals" must be tourists from New York. The quality is high, but the prices are also high.

Re: “Charleston loses a favorite culinary teacher

You brought back many fond memories of Mama Rose to me. I met her when I started working at the Colony House Restaurant. She absolutely hated the computers, so I would come in around 6 am to start them for her and later added daily specials to the registers. She always sent lunch to me as she knew I had a bad habit of forgetting to eat once I started working. When she went to Carolina's, she made the most fantastic fried calamri for me when I came by. I loved her so much and she will be missed. She was a great friend and beautiful woman.
