I went to Silva Spoon and must say I had an awesome experience me and one of my friends went there a while ago and I have since returned again. Good food awesome service.
I've never had Skoogies but Gee's Infamous Dogs from downtown are the BEST hot dogs I have ever eaten!
Jack's is just "ok" - however, it seriously needs a power washing inside and out.
Watch out for that bun to weenie ratio....it'll get you in trouble every time.
The buns at Jack's are gross. Too much bread to weenie ratio and the bread is doughy.
Nothing beats the Chicago Dog at Skoogie's. The best Dog.....The Best Product....Can't buy any better.....Big Deal.....It is only a Vienna Hot Dog...Go buy your own and make anything you want...This is not rocket science...Cosmic is not very good....
I can remember back when the "$5.00" hamburger first made the circuits. Now we have $5 hot dogs? Really....I know setting price points is a scientific art, but who really thinks it costs five bucks to make a hot dog, even with a 200% mark up? Have overhead costs made that kind of price a necessity? I'll stick to Franks, or Sonic, or Kangaroo for my standard weeny.
Skoogies opened around 1984...it's got Jack's beat by "a few" years.
actually Skoogies has been around in different locations and forms way before Jack's was. They used to be located in the little strip right next to where they are now. Then they closed and reopened as a cart next to their present day location. I've lived here for 16 yrs but really hot dogs aren't really anything new...just saying. I'm sure someone has something they need to get off their chest...so please.....rant
You can say you don't like Jack's but you can't call them copy cat when they were here before Skoogies.
Skioogie's does not need hype nor a PR firm .. Been the best all along .. Hot dogs are served fresh & hot .. Seppy's and Jack's are a joke .. Lukewarm, copy cats without imagination ..
Only two Jack's Locations, West Ashley spot became Mex 1 Last year
raspberry white chocolate cheescake at mt pleasant ye ole fashioned ice cream
Red Orchids ice cream is simply amazing. It was a wonderful surprise to find this in an upscale Chinese restaurant.
Guess this girl's drivin' over to Red Orchid for some of that Chocolate Cayenne and Honey Bourbon.
I saw someone post about Spin New York. There is actually a Table Tennis center in Charleston area
Or you might try the Boulevard Diner in Mt. Pleasant. Not so crowded as the usual hot spots with ample parking. Excellent service and desserts. Smallish portions where the catfish is concerned but it was delicious. Looks like a converted DQ and almost totally lacking in ambiance, but hey, you get what you pay for and sometimes that is quite enough. Downtown is a mad house during Spewleto and you might want to think about crossing over the bridge at least once and try it out.
And the Hush "Piggies" are amazing (Grocery)... Crispy-fried nuggets of Geechee Boy cornmeal with bits of Chorizo- heavenly when dipped into the side of avocado crema. Great combo of flavors, textures and temperatures and godawfully tasty-- like crack for fat boys!
Soft shells 3-ways at The Grocery is outstanding- pricy, but worth every morsel!
