Punishment of citizens and appeasement of tourists. Makes a lot of sense Riley. So tourists can ramble and be loud all they want and clog streets by day and actually cause traffic issues, but citizens who pay taxes can't have fun at night when most people are home? Makes perfect sense. Why do Charlestonians keep electing these idiots?
Don't worry folks, your fully electric downtown transportation will be here next month. Also, tips only. Www.scoopchs.com and Scoop CHS on fb/twitter/IG
Yea, by then I should have a band and have left.
Love Darius Rucker but this song is too bro-country.
Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail
I can see what Keane is trying to do. But he is going about it in a way that is harmful to the city of Charleston. Charleston is never going to be a mecca of big business. It's not DC, NYC, SF, Boston, Chicago, or Houston. It won't ever be. Could it be because the city can't support large scale office buildings (due to the terrain and city ordinances)? Could it be because it isn't an educational and research center? Could it be because in the grand scheme of things, Charleston is pretty isolated from the rest of the world? They are all impediments to Charleston reaching a status that is attractive to big business. Throw out Boeing if you must, but that is a manufacturing operation in North Charleston. It brings jobs, but not all of those jobs are good jobs.
Keane, Mayor Riley and his successor need to stop deluding themselves about what Charleston is. It is a historical city. And because of that, it is a tourist city. Tourism is reason for the hotels. Tourism is the reason for the bars. Tourism is the reason for the artisanal jelly purveyors (as aptly stated by another poster). It is a good area to stay in if you are happy where you are, and happy with the middling income that you have. But if you want greener pastures, you are going to head elsewhere. Charleston is a great place to visit, a decent place to live, but a cruddy place to work. And that isn't changing anytime soon.
That's not a bad idea. It will be considered for next year.
If you are not happy with the job you have then figure out something else to do for a living and leave. And while it is very rare to find a person in any job who will say that they are paid enough to say that Boeing employees are paid the barest minimum or are underpaid is bullshit. If they want to join a union and end up like the people last union on that site with less take home pay more power to them. But don't think that a union is anything other than a way to line the pockets union leadership. The rules and workplace regulations that were the impetus for forming unions are in place so the unions no longer have a purpose.
How about best band/artist that moved away and we wish they would come back?
I can see how we need anti-mine equip (MRAP). Never no when ISIL is going to start setting up road-side bombs in Charleston County - go for it Sheriff Cannon - Mr. Strawman himself. So when that day comes, we will be prepared.
Why didn't the officer initially tell dispatch there was a suicide vs what he said "shots fired! Shots fired!" Also, another officer asks "is this an officer involved shooting?" Then theres hesitation and an officer says "negative. Will advise when you get here." Why couldn't/didn't they say suicide or self inflicted wound or anything of the sort? And why didn't the officer call anything in if he felt in danger and began to scuffle? I am still having questions about all of this.
Take a hard look at the jobs numbers for the Assault rifle factory all the Governor is so proud of. They never hired as many as they said they were going to. Several of them came from out of state. Then they had a layoff. They're rehiring some of their former employees to grind out weapons for Christmas, but they'll be back on the unemployment line in late December.
The Governor claims all the jobs that are announced. Fewer are usually hired. Then when there are layoffs, nobody deducts them from the total. When they're rehired, they're added to the total again.
Middleton's an idiot and so are you for believing he can emulate Obama and win any office in SC other than dog catcher...
kind of like obama job numbers, wouldn't you say??
Zee, have you considered that the cost of living in NY is higher than Charleston? I just did research on DC so I know off the top of my head that 85k in DC equates to 68k here. Homes cost 64 percent more in DC. That's why employers have to pay more.
Get a specialized skill, get paid more. And quit whining.
