My wife and I attended and while there were definitely issues trying to get a drink early on, the night was still fun, and people seemed to enjoy themselves for the most part (once they were able to get a drink).
My biggest disappointment was that I was in the bar line for most of the Blue Dogs set, which was the main reason that we attended the event. All of the music was great, though, with an impressive stage and sound system. The bar line got a lot better once everyone got through the first time (probably because people were requesting multiple drinks so that wouldn't have to get back in line for a while; I saw many folks walking around with 6 packs...).
I think that they could have avoided most of the issues that they had at the bar simply by having a couple of beer & wine only stations in addition to the main bar. Serving mixed drinks really slows things down, and it's very frustrating waiting in line forever when all you want is a bottle of beer. Having a couple of smaller bars on each side in the hallway that serve only beer and wine would have prevented the mess that occurred at the main bar. I would also recommend providing several tall cocktail tables for people to set their plates on while they eat (both in the ballroom and in the hallway). They don't take up much room and would have made the folks who couldn't get a seat at one of the bigger tables much happier people. All of this said, I wouldn't go back next year unless I was sure that changes have be made to correct bar situation.
