Re: “Resurrecting the case of George Stinney

This saddens me in such a way that my heart literally hurts. Please do not give up on this case. This little boy deserves Justice.. it's an embarrassment to our justice system! Love from me to you for your sincere concern for this little boy who suffered a horrific death due to ignorance and racism.

Re: “CofC suspends alcohol-related activities for fraternities, sororities

I guess nobody here was 18 and away from home for the first time. "Not a kneejerk." K...well, what effect do we believe this will actually have on drinking? Theyll move the parties to non-campus housing. Great job everyone, problem solved, now lets work on that ozone layer.

Re: “CofC suspends alcohol-related activities for fraternities, sororities

CoFC has a rep as a party school for a good reason....it is. Each freshman class progressively worse in the no common sense department. No worries everyone, it only lasts until mid to end of October. With total panic setting in November 1st when the usual suspects realize that they may have to go on the typical CoFC 5 year plan and their parents have to fork out for the same classes again after they beat their kids ass. Party on Bruh!!

Re: “Dimitri Cherny takes on Mark Sanford—again

I was lucky enough to meet Dimitri Cherny at a Sun City rally, then a week later host him in July for a weekend. Learning about how he plans to work FOR the citizens of SC , but also the citizens of the United States is what he's about. Dimitri "GETS IT" and how the middle class has been hit and hit hard.. The poor among us have also been hit hard with services and programs they depend on just to sustain themselves being cut or eliminated. He's clear, knows what needs to be done and is ready to roll up his sleeves and GET it DONE for all of us. Sanford as Governor was an embarrassment, as a US Congressman he's doing NOTHING to make life better for the people of SC...

Re: “Margo Venomous, tattoo artist

Margo Venomous is a true artist. I have 3 tattoos from her, all in the last year. One in January, one in May, and one in July. My next one is scheduled for October. She always listens to your ideas and counters with ideas of her own if she thinks it'll look better a certain way or work better on certain parts of your body. She really cares about what she does and what she puts on your body and where it goes. I have been completely and utterly blown away by what she has come up with all three times and I can't wait to see what she does with the new one. Margo Venomous is forever my tattoo artist.

So from what region of Spain was this chip on your shoulder harvested? You sound like a pretentious asshole. How are those health benefits and 401K working out for you?

Re: “Charleston diners, stop asking servers this question

I have been in F&B for 40 years now, with some detours along the way, and I've done everything from serving, shift manager, store manager, operation manager, bartender- you get the picture. My first server gig was at a Jewish Deli in a North Shore Suburb of Chicago, and I started on my 15th Birthday! I also lived in this town, a very affluent suburb, and attended one of the finest school systems in the nation. I am, however, learning disabled, and formal education was a challenge for me. But I am very intelligent. But- the restaurant bug bit me deep, and festered into a real passion for all things SERVICE! I made great money, ($150 for Sat/Sun Breakfast shifts in 1975 at the deli!!) earned the respect of my peers and my superiors, was asked at all levels to climb the ladder, which I did. But- I my ❤️ was always a server, providing MY personal best, even if the other aspects of the restaurant were not up to snuff. I have always thought of myself as a professional. But- like the writer- I was often questioned similarly and treated as a lesser person. And it is very humiliating sometimes.
So please ask yourself this the next time you dine out; would I rather have a server that thinks of his or herself as a professional, providing the expert service I expect, one who has a sense of pride in themselves, or one that thinks of himself as a lowlife, one that doesn't matter? And to the F&B folks reading this; are YOU treating your current employment situation with pride in yourself, and the service you provide? If not, do not be disappointed in your recompense, as people will respond in kind; not always, but we should still have pride in ourselves.

Re: “CofC suspends alcohol-related activities for fraternities, sororities

Admissions are too high when they can't even guarantee enough housing for 1/3 of the student body.

Elliotborough's been worse than usual, too. The past few weeks I've seen superbowl-weekend levels of day drinking.

Oh and by the way .....since you want the customers to show you some "love" with a "fat tip"..... maybe you could show some love to the back of the house and share those tips equally

Good luck with keeping admissions high.the only reason people seem to come is to party.

Re: “Charleston diners, stop asking servers this question

Everyone is so easily offended. It's just a question, for goodness sakes. If that bothers you so much, working with the public is not your calling. I am hair stylist and am asked many questions- sometimes personal, sometimes unpleasant. It doesn't make someone a snob to want to get to know you or to care enough to ask what you do with your time when you aren't working.

Re: “CofC suspends alcohol-related activities for fraternities, sororities

Cannonborough has become almost unlivable during the past few weeks and CofC is responding to the complaints in the appropriate way. Students have been passed out on the sidewalks and carted off in ambulances. Parties of THREE HUNDRED have been reported to the cops on Monday nights. Day drinking has been shut down over and over and the police can barely keep up. I commend the administration for doing the right thing.
