Re: “D'Allesandro's is making pizza cakes and they're incredible

Pizza cakes sound delicious. But wait, don't they already have pizza cakes? I thought it was called lasagna, but I could be wrong.

Re: “How to give $1 million to a mayoral candidate

This issue could be simply solved if we were able to round up 999 Democrats who were a) not poor and b) intelligent enough to game the system c) engaged enough in the political process to care.

Hmmm. Good luck!

Re: “How to give $1 million to a mayoral candidate

And it only works because most of the electorate is too lazy to do their own research and make intelligent decisions, a factor that Republicans realize and take advantage of while Democrats idealistically refuse to accept.

Interesting support from halfwit because I am a Social Libtard. I just try also to be a fiscal pragmatist with a penchant for pointing out the Emperor's new clothes.

Re: “The cash being raised in the mayor's race is insane

Hopefully we'll actually hear the candidates start to differentiate themselves when the election gets closer. Right now, they all seem to have the same positions. Of course, I may just base my vote on who received the least $$$ from real estate developers.

Re: “Charleston fights an uphill battle against short-term rental listings

Ima, so long as AirBnB is allowed to have a lobby at city hall that rewards them for NOT innovating...then all would be fair.

You seem like a free market man. Certainly you don't think businesses should be rewarded for embracing outdated business models that limit consumer choice? Because that's the issue here. Hotels are causing a big stink over this - which is causing the city to address it in a reactionary way. It's not an issue with licensing in and of itself.

Whose problem is it that the hotel can't compete with the prices and the intimate level of service? It's not the city's.

You and many like you are arguing backwards. It's the hotel lobby - anti-competitive as it ever was - vs. the Air BnB proprietors here. The city is obviously caught in the middle, but you seem to have subscribed to the bureaucratic imperatives that only exists because of one industry's unwillingness to improve their product and level of service.

Re: “Johns Island gets first-of-its-kind commercial kitchen

Ima Oldman, the flamboyantly liberal readers of the City Paper won't have any such talk of cost-benefit ratios and questions about "who pays the damn bill"? No one is refuting you but 5 people have downvoted your second response without providing any sort of rebuttal whatseover. As you can see, the feasibility of implementing things like this doesn't matter so long as it makes people feel good (or like they are better than others, at least).

Like passive-aggressive bumper stickers, libtards know that avoiding confrontation is their best bet for winning a debate. They really showed you who was boss in this debate (judging by downvotes only and not actual discourse) So, I hope that your thumb-up to thumb-down ratio has taught you a lesson and that you'll be more encouraged to participate in the echo chamber in the future.

"I really enjoy the show the only one I can not stand is Cameran so fake and full of herself."

As opposed to everyone else on the show who is extremely authentic and not a mutant creation of advertising and showbiz executives designed to help the masses forget they are prisoners trapped in their own mundane existence.

Re: “Southern Charm Recap S2 E6: Keeping up appearances

I really enjoy the show the only one I can not stand is Cameran so fake and full of herself. She thinks she perfect "NOT". Also she is so jealous of Kathryn for being younger smarter and strong. She had a baby when Cameran is 30 and married and is still too selfish to commit to a child. Absolutely love Kathryn the girl has spunk and is real. Old Cameran needs to be schooled from Kathryn on how to be true to yourself and how to stop being so two face and phony.

So people who can't afford to own a home are getting a tax hike but homeowners aren't? And before anyone tries to point out that this is a tax on landlords, show me just one that won't pass the tax on as a rent increase.

Re: “Johns Island gets first-of-its-kind commercial kitchen

Okay, Dan, I followed the links, I read all of the information, and I'm more skeptical than I was before. It really is a feel-good story but reality bites. Of the 100+ schools in CCSD, how many have kitchens equipped to process enough raw food to feed their students now? A vast minority. Who pays the taxes that will fund the upgrades? If I can buy bagged frozen corn that will give 300 students a proper serving, do we have a local farmer that will provide 15 dozen ears at the same price? No, then who makes up the difference. If it takes two people to open, cook and serve that frozen corn to the student body, how many will it take to husk, cook and serve 15 dozen ears in a morning. Or carrots. Open a bag of frozen carrots or wash peel, cut and cook 75 pounds? And how far in advance should cafeteria managers plan their lunch menus? By the month as many do know or should they wait until they see what Farmer Brown has on his truck this morning? While I agree that it's a really nice idea, the more you look into the logistics the less feasible it seems.

Is it any wonder we have such a jaundiced, cynical view of politicians and the people who love them?

Thak you, Kristin Barner, for the wonderful review! Just one little thing: the actor playing Beebe (the monk) is Bronson Taylor.
