umm Morons at city paper....
you might wanna do some research or just acknowledge when it comes to punk you don't know fuck all.
just plain embarassing.
What about The Ashley Cooper Corridor? (this area is where they are at their closest.)
Aside from in CP I don't recall hearing "NoMo" more than a couple of times. And as far as having a dog in the fight, you're tilting the table toward your own constituency, I'd say that carries some weight.
THIS SHOW IS NOT SOLD OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tickets available at the Sparrow Bar in Park Circle.
I want to change my vote from NoMo to Upper Edge
Ima, Aside from there being no other viable alternatives until now, I'd go out on a limb and say that part of the reason why NoMo has stuck around like it has is that 1) it's pretty silly and fun to say and 2) because there was so much outrage about it. NoMo obviously wouldn't be the name of an area of town that extends well beyond the short Morrison Drive corridor (and even smaller North Morrison Drive area), which is why the city created the survey. There'll be a lot more going on in this area of town in the coming years and I suspect a name will come about organically as it continues to grow. We don't have a dog in the fight besides not wanting a crummy name. But feel free to conspire away.
Yes I know it is the antithesis of a craft beer, Lew, but as for your line," but if the beer's not good, the brewery won't survive", how do you explain the raging popularity among hipsters of PBR? This isn't about quality at all, it's about fads and trends. Sure, real beer aficionados will understand the distinctions, but they make up a small piece of the market.
As I commented on the original column last week, " I always felt it an interesting piece of arrogance that CP staff felt they had the right to name a neighborhood."
So I guess, technically, they've changed course asking their readers to name it, although CP is still pulling the strings.
Just a few mistakes, but very nice job. Thank you
For those of us who live far away, would you consider sharing your recipe for the heirloom tomato and peach salad?
No, actually, that's not at all what I'm saying. Some of it's about exclusivity, but if the beer's not good, the brewery won't survive. Slagging off on hipsters doesn't help, either...and it's pretty three years ago.
The 19th Amendment was passed by Republicans. Fortunately, women have the right to vote thanks to the Republican Party - the true political party of Civil Rights. Now give up your 2nd amendment right (because cops will protect you even though we hate cops and black lives matter targets them), your right to free speech (political correctness), your right to assembly (unless it is a black race riot), your right to privacy (NSA), and your sovereignty as a nation (open borders and multiculturalism). Women love their double standards. They want equality unless it comes to aborting a baby (the man gets no say) or unless it comes to divorce (courts are bias towards women) or dishing out alimony payments or child support payments (why don't men get custody when they make a good case to be guardian). Women want equality unless it means the Democrat party importing hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees who culturally marry underage girls, stone women for adultery, treat women like property, make them wear black sheets, throw acid in women's faces, worship a fake prophet who married a 6 year old girl according to their religion, all evidenced by dozens of mass rapes in Europe by Syrian refugees and hundreds of news reports ignored by the corporate conglomerate bias news media in USA. Worldwide the majority of abortions are performed on unborn girls. Yay feminism!
Well this sucks. Sounds like they'll be trying to move the strip clubs, prostitutes, drug dealers and pimps out of the area. This is evil white gentrification! I say we import some of those bus loads of illegal aliens that Obama strategically buses around to districts to artificially build a Democrat majority (the new gerrymander). Or we can bring in some Syrian refugees to rape women, throw rocks at gays, and then invite their 12 year old Muslim brides over later since marrying little underage girls is widespread and common in this beautiful diverse Islamic culture (I'm like soooo tolerant and diverse and stuff *smug smug*) when we aren't mutilating women's genitals as is custom in Muslim culture and accepted by smug, tolerant liberal democrats because we at least pretend to care about women even though Democrats opposed the 19th amendment and tried to prevent women from having the right to vote to begin with (darn those Republicans!).
The Westside continues past King st to I-26. Also continues past Hagood to the Ashley River. Please- a little more research before posting.
You have mistakenly lumped in the French quarter with Ansonborough. But overall, a brief and fun overview
Charleston likes to spend millions of dollars debating bridges and roads instead of actually building them. See 526. I vote no to all this. I've rode a bike across the West Ashley bridge as it is. It's manageable. My commute to work is tolerable. I didn't choose to live too far out in the boonies. And unless Councilman Rodney Williams is physically disabled, he should actually take his @$$ to the council meetings and be there physically. The rest of us don't get to phone into our jobs. Show up! I know Barack Hussein Obama gets to phone into his job from the 9th hole at the golf course at Martha Vineyards while people are drowning in Louisiana or getting their heads cut off by ISIS thugs he and Hillary armed, but Charlestonians expect more from our politicians.
If you don't want gender to be a consideration in the application process, nor race, then stop asking for such information. The government tries to collect this information to use against us. Opt out. It's collected by race hustlers like Barack Obama. Gender isn't a choice. Nor is your race. 99.9% of people are born either male or female and their reproductive organ is the indication. Only mentally ill liberals believe that your gender is an emotional choice. The reality is that it is determined by your anatomy. Very, very few people are born with both organs or with hormone imbalances so severe that they are not clearly one nor the other. It seems that the Democrats are the ones who do not believe in science and reality.
I've been going to D'Allesandro's since 2006. It's not as good as it used to be. I believe the ownership has changed. It's still the same wood fire oven. Much is the same. But it's not quite as good as it used to be. But don't get me wrong. It's still probably my favorite.
When is Oriental Garden re-opening is my question!?!?
This Bryson fella couldn't be any more right. The "craft" thing is a marketing tool used to lure in stupid hipsters. They don't care if the beer tastes good, as long as it is made by castrated monks singing a Ray Charles/Adele medley in a small pot that has been used since it was discovered at Goodwill. The "craft" moniker is to give the product the "exclusivity" that the hipster craves.
I mean, just ask Scott Shor. He makes a killing doing this at Charleston's biggest d-bag magnet.
