Re: “Lowcountry school boards face school closings and transgender debate

Dot Scott: You are wrong. It is not a two hour drive to Wando from McClellanville. Many kids these days are spending 45 minutes one way, and 45 minutes home every day to ride the bus. If your Mommy has the van, then she'll come and wait on you. So isn't it worth a little more time commuting to be able to achieve a better education than the one your are getting in that tiny school with minimal chances for advanced classes, better athletic teams, and an overall better education? The money is just not there, and all your bitching and moaning and demanding will achieve nothing. The school is going to close, so get used to it. And now you won't have to build more bathrooms for the transgender kids, either.

Re: “The Agenda: SC likely affected by overtime rules; Tim Scott for VP?; Flats at Mixson hearing today

Hillarious has already "sold out" the blacks. Not a unique idea. Anything to make them vote for you, and then take the promises back.

Re: “The Charleston County School District board should be fired

I taught at Wando for 14 years before I moved to what we in Greenville thought was the richest county in the state. Maybe it is. Maybe it's not. As best I know, though, GCS has not "lost" multiple millions of dollars. When I worked for CCSD, I was active with the Charleston County Education Association. I began going to board meetings regularly. They were more entertaining than tv. John Graham Altman called all of us teachers cheaters more than once. I heard a trio of teenage girls tell a startled board how they became born again virgins and urged the board to implement the program throughout the district. I came to the upstate in 2002, and their system is very calm. Not so many, if any, dramatics. Maybe it is something in the water or the plough mud. Of course, Trey Gowdy is the congressman here. Maybe he has that $18 million and is using that to fund the Benghazi witch hunt. Whatever, bless your hearts.

"but it would show Scott's willingness to sell out Blacks for his own political gain"

That ship has sailed. He may as well roll with it.

Now in its second year, Charleston’s first music conference New Music Confab is back for more this summer with another weekend of showcases and panels that will run Fri. Thurs. Aug. 25 to Sat. Aug.27.

Little typo there...Fri -Thurs?

Just a heads up.

Should a collection of poorly arranged chromosomes that identify as human be allowed access to the internet?

should a 16 year old who feels like and identifies as a 21 year old be allowed to drink? Should a 40 year old who feels like a 65 year old be allowed to draw social security and get senior discounts?

Tim Scott's got the right yes-man attitude for Trump, but it would show Scott's willingness to sell out Blacks for his own political gain, so yes I can see it happening.

Oh, well, there will always be Ham and Lima Beans. If you don't know what that is, ask your father or grandfather.

Re: “The Charleston County School District board should be fired

Fire everybody? Well, isn't that just a brilliant, novel, and not at all draconian idea! Then what? Are the people who replace those that have left going to automatically make the right decisions? Or are they just going to function within the current construct?

This article just offers complaints and one solution. That solution is about as intellectually lazy as it comes. It is pretty apparent that there needs to be many process and procedural improvements. But Mat offers the "off with their heads" approach, as if it is the sole solution to the maladies. Just like in the real world, if you come to someone with problems, be prepared to solve the problem. The author obviously has very little interest in the latter.

Re: “Wanna email Gov. Haley directly? Well, now you can: nrh@gov.sc.gov

In my opinion, the reason we don't have a transportation/ roads bill is because of Nikki's desire to show she tows the GOP- Grover Norquest line of "never ever ever vote for any new taxes".... unless of course it's to line you own pockets or advance your own political career. It is UNBELIEVABLE that the Gov. is going to make SC citizens financially responsible for the shady group that put the SC retirement fund into HIGH RISK stock investments that lost money and THEN paid sky high trader fees for those investments. She should have called for SLED to investigate that group to determine whether a Grand Jury should hear the details of why these men are not responsible for paying for the their fiduciary crimes AND be required to pay restitution. Let them pay out of their political slush funds. Unfortunately, the majority of the SC legislature is in the pockets of the NRA and deceptive political organizations cooked up by the Koch brothers and channeled by by our own Jim DeMint.
It is disgusting that 90% of "We the people of SC" are not represented by Mrs Haley.
