Re: “It's time to give up the carriage tour gimmick

By the writer's own admission it was the carriage horses that built the much loved Charleston of today. They were the takeaway that visitors loved. I'll bet that is still true today. As such they should be cherished and celebrated and given the best possible conditions to ensure they flourish. After all, visitors do not visit great cities for the traffic.

Re: “It's time to give up the carriage tour gimmick

The carriage horses are like The Arts. They kept beauty and relief in the downtown area in hard times and flourish in good times. They calm traffic. Although you may shark to park, carries reduce speed through areas with heavy foot traffic. They offer a quiet and gentle experience in a bustling successful downtown and make your city a better tourist destination. Keep what works, keep the beauty.

Re: “Watch Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton square off in the first 2016 presidential debate

ok, I'll give you that. Apparently "1 of" may mean 1 of 1000. My "their" was just referring to wording in the column. My point was: who exactly is
"they", I feel that is relevant. If "They" refers to a Yahoo columnist, that holds a lot different weight than the League of Women Voters, for example.

Re: “Watch Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton square off in the first 2016 presidential debate

Doesn't everything depend on what "their" definition is of whatever word you want to parse?

Not that it matters, but they did say "one of," which, in the company of the other things you mentioned, would indeed make it "one of" those things.

Anyway, I think I heard it from some NBC host, but my attention was flipping between the TV and Infowars on my laptop, so there was probably some hyperbole somewhere. (Depending on your definition.)

Re: “Charleston County Council calls for further study of West Ashley bike lane

I have a solution i will place flying pigs at either side of the bridge equipped with golden harnesses and bike riders can attach themselves to those pigs and be flown across the bridge. I just need council approval for a corn cob per trip payment for the pigs.
Im sure this will be approved as quickly as the bike lane.

Re: “Watch Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton square off in the first 2016 presidential debate

Who exactly is calling it " one of the biggest political events of modern political history"? And what is "their" definition of "modern history" - since 2008? I would consider a Black man elected President much bigger, or a presidential election being decided by a State Elections Committee's definition of a properly punched punch-card ballot, or half a dozen other events to be much bigger political events over the last, say, two dozen years. But then again, I forgot nothing important happened before Millenials.
