For the record, my family landed in South Carolina in 1696, fought the Indians in the Colonial era, with Francis Marion in the Revolution, with the Confederacy in both major armies, built churches, schools and towns and has compiled a centuries long record of community leadership in education, civic life, culture and public health. My father pioneered marketing Charleston as a tourism and real estate destination in the 1960s and 1970s. I was born here, grew up here, graduated the honors college and law school at USC and have lived here as an adult, homeowner and community activist for 27 years since college Graduation. I therefore am, for what it is worth then and now, a South Carolinian, and I am as qualified as anyone to judge the character of a public figure which I have always understood, as was explained to me by men like James B. Edwards and other prominent "conservatives" to be an essential component of community and political leadership.

I am perfectly aware that Mark Sanford is not the first elected official who has stained the public trust here and elsewhere and failures can be found in both parties, however Sanford has not merely violated the standard, he has now redefined and lowered it.

I will not accept this. You may and more people did than did not.

However what I encountered on the street where I was doing political work for the loser was a rising attitude of disgust for the process and the candidates that can only make the next election even more bitter and unproductive, no matter who wins.

Are governments inherently evil? Do all politicians lie? Just think, if I had lied more I might have been president. A senator at the very least. Ah well, screw the environment. A park will make more jobs for bureaucrats and higher salaries for supervisors and administrators. And if it doesn't make money what the hell, the taxpayers can take up the slack. And if they lose there homes because they can't pay their taxes, so what. More jobs for bureaucrats handing out welfare. Great way to run an economy. Sometime I sure wish I had lied more.

HI TARA ----im kerm ---we talk on the radio------show -----ok for real now ----boeing is big bussiness but only in the wash state area ---these southern -states------are being used by them ------look what happend to the cape ---or the miss test facility -----or the michoud branch in new orleans --where they had over 10 thousand employes-----that was in the late -60s---70s--i see the same thing happening in charleston sc---where the state gave them--128 million it was only last week that there airplanes got ungrounded ---they are not a free enterprise there money comes ..from the usa govt----and also from foreing-----airlines ----i seen blocks --of empty high priced town houses and condos wasted after boeing ---pulled out -------ok chucktown -------keep your eyes open and your wallet in your --front pocket

Ok Clarkie, you are right. He voluntarily came forward and said "Please, allow me to pay back the money I stole from the hard working taxpayers." (Right after his attorney told him to - I am sure he would've simply kept it otherwise). He never lied to the public - repeatedly, cheated on his wife - repeatedly and never lectured the rest of us on "family values" - repeatedly, ugh, I am plugging my ears. The man is a proven scoundrel, a hypocrite, a liar and a thief with no ethics or morals and obviously MONUMENTAL brass balls. If I kick you in the Ass as hard as I can and then say "Oops Sorry, I transgressed", you would of course say "Bless you, my child, no problem" and turn the other cheek for another boot, right Clarkie? I am a registered Republican and just can not bring myself to admire him or believe a word he says (Based on his poor track record). What is really a shame is that we could not come up with a better candidate then this proven thief and known liar. Mark Sanford has not worn a Jacket for many years! Hamilton is right.

"conspiracy?" It's known that Ailes is trying to stick Benghazi to Clinton. Fox News devoted an entire day of programming to Benghazi THIS WEEK in order to gin up reaction and create sensation. It's manufactured nonsense.
Again, do you get this worked up about redacted, edited talking points for consumer-facing policy on other topics? No? Ok.

hahaha It really matters very little what i want. The investigations continue. I suggest you vent your passions at those who can do something about it.
I never mentioned any conspiracy. Take a look at your posts and see who looks like
the conspiracy theorist.
I'm not paranoid. and yes I am distrustful of those we give the reigns of power. No matter the party. As an American i think we can do no less.
When i was a liberal (waste of time btw) at least we didn't accept blind trust in our elected officals just cause we might have shared some views. Its very confounding.

I would say your gonna have much bigger fish to fry as far as your conspiracy Ails theory.
If Mrs. Clinton does decide to run... She will have to face a lot of this in the primaries. I know plenty of Democratic Presidential wannabes are just rubbin their hands in glee.
I bet Biden is just drooling over the chances.

@bluesbrrd actually restitution happens more often than not in the criminal justice system and in return the charges are dismissed.
