Re: “Summerville's Perfectly Frank's has closed

If you guys knew what I know, you'd be extraordinarily thankful they closed that location. Shudder.... I'm. Just. Saying.

Re: “Best Hip-Hop Club

I think the criteria was, based on the winner and runner-up: "have you ever seen more than one group of people there with at least one person of color in each while Hypnotized played."

As covered in previous CCP columns, downtown doesn't welcome the hip hop business, and it doesn't welcome the hip hop crowd. Playing songs from rap albums that I bought during the Clinton administration does not a hip hop club make.

Re: “Best Local Hip-Hop Artist

Louie D is NOT a Hip Hop artist. After all the artist who have had interviews in the paper (Anfernee, Benjamin Starr, Matt Monday, Salis) this is the best "Hip Hop" artist you could find. Someone who isn't even remotely hip hop. I have been on the cover of the Charleston City Paper for Hip Hop and no even a nomination. Once again I am soooo disappointed in the paper. This was NOT a representation of the city what so ever, and I thought the Charleston City Paper was just that. Do better

Re: “Blondie the horse's accident raises moral questions about the carriage tour industry

There should be a scale to weigh the passengers that are signed up for one carriage before loading it up. Some of these people are heavier than the horses. Each carriage should have a total weight limit for every group going on board before it is allowed out. The maximum temperature that the horses are allowed out should be lowered to 80. These horses are miserable I hear them crying during the tours. Seeing them makes Charleston less desirable as a place to live.

Re: “Best Hip-Hop Club

Bravo, Charleston City Paper. Please tell me the criteria for a venue to be considered a "Hip Hop Club." (Oh, and not only a Hip Hop Club, but THE BEST Hip Hop Club.) Downtown Charleston has ZERO Hip Hop clubs. It really intrigues me how a publication that has capitalized on Hip Hop artists, and covered Hip Hop based stories, would have the guts to create a category of something that does not exist. I am not concerned about the nomination process, I have questions about the category creation process. When these categories were created, did anyone stop and say "Oh wait, there is NO Hip Hop club in Downtown Charleston." "Oh wait, we wrote a WHOLE story about how Hip Hop event planners can BARELY find a venue that would open doors to play Hip Hop." I do expect more from the Charleston City Paper. When you know better, you do better. Charleston City Paper, you knew better. How The Commodore won this award is beyond me. No shade, just facts. The Commodore is NOT a Hip Hop club. If the winner and runner-up are indeed Hip Hop clubs, then I will be the first one through the door on Friday night, expecting the wondrous sounds of Future or Lil Boosie to greet me at the doe'! #BOC17 #BestReachOf2017 #StretchArmstrong

Re: “Best Musician

Would it be possible to put Mr. Rucker in the HOF and retire his number for the sake of these awards? Yeah, we get it... the guy that has been making platinum records since Slick Willie's first term is a good singer. Beautiful voice, everyone knows it... like everyone in the United States.

Re: “Confessions of a Southern Charm Newbie: Talking Points

I just want to know why everyone acts like "the step-and-repeat," in noun form, is a super normal term we should all know. "Don't forget, tomorrow after your dentist appointment we have to swing by the post office to pick up that step-and-repeat I ordered." Yeah, totally normal term I use all the time. What kind of monster doesn't know what a "step-and-repeat" is?! For once, I'm with Craig. I will call it a "step and release" from here on out. And by that I mean NEVER, since I have made it 30-some years into life without ONCE needing to refer to that thing that they call a "step-and-repeat."
