Thanks for letting people know, Kinsey. Many people were able to watch online.

Re: “Edmund's Oast gives customers a way to show kitchen staff some love

I don't get why servers get cash and BOH gets booze. They need to buy groceries and gas, not drive home drunk! I totally agree that the house should not make money on this deal. This sounds like a move to assuage the guilt of the owners while allowing them to profit. Nice try, but how about paying your workers a living wage instead?

Re: “The Lowcountry's CreateSpace and BiblioLabs are revolutionizing the publishing world

Nice article. Just FYI, Createspace is only a portion of Amazon's self-publishing business. The other is KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing), which allows authors to self-publish eBooks.

She gave us all so much and had so much more to share. Very sad but very grateful that I came to know her voice.

Pizzeria di Giovanni in the Rainbow Market. Beats Gilroy's by a mile.

Love this article! I've been going to Cedar Creek some this summer, and I'm hoping to return, soon. It's a purifying experience for me!

Re: “Crosby's Seafood Market will close on Aug. 25 after 37 years in business

Small businesses are not being crushed by regulation, they are being crushed by their own inability for whatever reason for not providing a product that enough people are willing to pay for to maintain profitability.
I find it funny when free business advocates blame the government for their own failure. Successful business is simple - understand your costs and liabilities going in, then find a product or service to sell that people want badly enough to pay your price. If you aren't selling enough to cover expenses, than you were wrong. Simple as that.

Re: “After 13 years in business, King Street Grille closes shop

It seems the question might have been asked if the landlord refused to renew or if the tenant refused a rent hike. If a rent hike had been proposed (after all this is a business with 13 successful years, rent hikes usually come more frequently than that) and tenant refused, the story is entirely different than presented. But oh yeah, paragraph 4 - another attempt at Chris Haire smartassery - way to keep the spirit alive Kinsey.

This is Scott from the Charleston Performing Arts Center. This was a GREAT show, but it closed September 25 as planned. Currently we have a wonderful show playing titled "Dream Girls, The Revue". This show's focus is the girl groups of the 1960s ... you'll hear the hits from girl groups like The Shirelles, Martha & The Vandellas, The Supremes, and many more. We tell the story of how the girl group sound started and became THE sound of that decade.

This original music revue has been delighting audiences for weeks and closes on August 28. Get your tickets now by visiting our website or calling our box office.

Re: “New effort aims to name upper peninsula’s east side

"NoMo no more"?
NoMo never was except in the City Paper. I always felt it an interesting piece of arrogance that CP staff felt they had the right to name a neighborhood.
My suggestion would be Hipsterhaven

Bummer. Can I feel nostalgic for something that I saw birthed even if it isn't that old? Who am I kidding? I still miss Sharkey's!
