Re: “Avery Center, International African-American Museum, and Lowcountry Unity Fund receive $375K in grants

I would love to see an exhibit dedicated to the food of the lowcountry. Something similar to the National museum. I would love to curate this

Re: “Video confession of Dylann Roof reveals disturbing views on race

I think he should get the death penalty. I feel heartbroken for the surviving people who are going to relive the horror of that violent, murderous evening for the rest of ther lives and for the families who have lost their precious loved ones.

Re: “No biscuits? Carrie Morey explains why forgetting them was a big misstep on Top Chef: Charleston Ep. 2

So ironic that Ms.Morey's grandmother was so poor she had to make her biscuits from whatever possible, out of necessity. Now those same biscuits are being sold for $5+ EACH to Charleston's tourists.

Re: “Anti-LGBT creationist Kevin Bryant could soon be first in line to become governor

All the hand-waving over the age of the earth (which is 4-5 billion years, of course) is like a tweet from Donald Trump: a giant f'n distraction. The grandstanding over the Columbian Mammoth fossil earned our state nationwide jabs for our provincial rube behavior, but did nothing to erode the influence of the party on this state. What's really at stake is the typical litany of basic state functions being left to dry to prove that they don't work: public education, environmental protection, roads/bridges/dams. Just look at how many road and highway signs simply collapse in the breeze around here? That's a symptom.

Now he's got a shot at being on deck for the governor's desk, solidifying the succession order as solid Good Ol' Boy. But there's plenty more where he came from, and yuks and hashtags about an icky graphic novel or no, they're getting their way.

And it teaches them that they must make everyone believe exactly as they do, so when they grow up into physical adults, they do everything they can to control the masses and have them conform to their definition of m0rality. It's called "Br@inwashing".

That t3rrifies (abnses) them (and me until I saw the light of their judgment) which starts their cycle of a lifetime of religi0us oppr3ssion that controls them forever.

Re: “With so many eyes on the street, justice today might rely only on a video

It seems to me the central question is what about Scott caused Slager's "fear" from a man who was obviously trying to get away from him. Scott didn't attack Slager; he ran away. Whatever caused the altercation and whatever happened during it, was due to Scott's not wanting to deal with Slager. When the shots were fired, he was 18 feet away. I am not one to yell "racist" at every opportunity, but whether or not Slager was even aware of it, if you are honest you have to ask how much Scott' being Black contributed to Slager's "fear" for his life. t is almost impossible to deny the racial elements in the case.

Re: “We should welcome and encourage women to run for local office

As a proud member of the aforementioned groups, I am aware now, more than ever, of the importance of getting more women in these local seats of various governments. I am seriously considering making a run next year, because Charleston needs to be represented by the people who want to make a positive change, not a name for themselves.

Wow, that will be amazing to see the tens of women marching in protest. Hope it doesn't affect mall parking.

Re: “Stegelin: Fear and Loathing in Trump Voters

You should expect a string of childish public messages from Tweeto as soon as wakes from his security, diplomacy, and economics 101 briefing induced naps. Though its possible he'll wait to attack you personally until after he signs Executive Orders eliminating the 1st Amendment and authorizing the imprisonment of cartoonists who make fun of him once he takes office (with a nod to Kim Jong-Un and his buddy Vlad, for establishing those brilliant precedents). Please be patient.
