Re: “Charleston Pride hosts its first ever same-sex wedding expo

Really, Lynn?

That's the joke.

Could you please tell me what you think it means to reprise a role? "Reprising his role as a Republican presidential candidate..."

Re: “Charleston Pride hosts its first ever same-sex wedding expo

If you are on your third marriage I don't think you have any idea what the institution of marriage actually means.

Neither does your link. What happened leading up to that clip? A little context goes a long way.

Re: “Watch Lindsey Graham destroy his flip phone with a samurai sword

The GOP is reaping what it sowed. What Trump did was terrible. If the GOP wasn't promoting this kind of nonsense Trump would not be a player but they let him get away with his Birther remarks because it suited their purpose. They let him get away with his racist hate speach because it suited their purpose. Now the GOP is the only one left and he's coming after them.

Trolling for great justice. You see, fellow internet cretins? All this energy can be put to good use.

Re: “Stegelin: KKK at the Statehouse, in three acts

Warwit, I received no beating, and am not a Klan member and I provoked nothing and got nothing that was coming to me since there was nothing DUE to come to me. I'm a 60 y/o greybeard on a cane. I know what I saw and it was wrong. What I saw was entirely different from what we saw here in Charleston. Look at the comments on that link and you can make your own conclusions about the event. It's got nothing to do with me. I am somewhat flummoxed that the media is not reporting the full story. The Truth Is Out There!

So quit trying to make my communications something that they are not and remember, two wrongs do not make a right.

Re: “The branding of public buildings and the tragedy of Ira Glass

I lost all respect for Ira Glass with his opening line in his CP interview 3 years ago, '"So you're a Jew and you live in Charleston. How's that going?" So the NPR darling from Chicago is as bigoted about the South as the rest of them. Trying to make points with CP's Sarah Cohen, comiserating about the maltreatment of Jews in the South without knowing that Charleston's Jewish community is way older than the one he celebrates. Since he likes to believe in stereotypes, should we ask him why he wants to own an NPR property?

This will almost certainly damage my 3rd marriage, and by extension, the institution of marriage itself. What about my rights?

Re: “Stegelin: KKK at the Statehouse, in three acts

SunKing, you're pretty distraught over that beating you received. I would suggest that you not attend future KKK rallies if this is an issue for you. Your cries of injustice are falling on deaf ears since you openly provoked Columbia's "knockout game" community and got what was coming to you.

Re: “Stegelin: KKK at the Statehouse, in three acts

Joseph Goebbels would be proud of that bit of propaganda. How many members or friends of the KKK do you think are in law enforcement, judiciary and the military? These guys look like normal people (well, mostly, I guess). This does nothing to heal. Look at the video I posted above, then read the comments. A few people get it that the violence which occurred was detrimental to all sides. Columbia failed to take the example of Charleston.

Re: “Social Restaurant & Wine Bar closing after eight years

I've never been to Social and found it anything but busy, although as part of the newly graying set, I'm not out too late. I guess those of us who live SOB or nearby will have to pay very heavily for a good dinner after waiting two months for a reservation or subsist on cornmeal and tapioca. Will miss Social.

Re: “The Agenda: Arrests after Columbia KKK rally; Bloomberg-backed group pushing for gun loophole fix; Haley affected by Emanuel shooting

@mat

I'm not stupid. I just haven't posted pics online and available to the public in about 1 years. I don't use Facebook or Twitter. Just out of practice...we got that straight?

My son-in-law did find this, end-of-rally footage.

https://mobile.twitter.com/vxaura/status/622643270695432193

This is a different gang beating than the one I saw and my wife photographed, so there was more than one. This clip makes me wonder if the cowards were home-grown or from Jacksonville, as I had originally thought. No matter, it's wrong.

Re: “Saint Alban to move across the street

I guess I don't get the restaurant business. Selling coffee in the mornings only is enough to afford not one, but two King Street lots, a James Beard semi-finalist and enough cash to outfit 2 new restaurants?
I found St Albans to be stiflingly pretentious with awkward flow patterns. Very uncomfortable, but great coffee.
