Re: “Freeloaders: Spring fling

When does this week's freeloaders come out? It's Tuesday already. Mew staff has been slack on rolling this out over the past year.

Re: “The New Yorker visits Piggie Park in its feature 'America's Most Political Food'

The stories you have reported on are all somewhat interesting but that's all.
The people could be a little better informed & have a better understanding of what I would call "interesting reading". And being better informed brings me to this God -given right:
I fly "MY" confederate flag every day along with the other flags that made America great & what it is & no person of "color"(for lack of a more descriptive term) is going to rip it out of my "HANDS".

Re: “Crave Kitchen & Cocktails

My new go-to brunch place in Charleston. Shrimp with grits and chorizo sausage is great. The bacon Bloody Mary will not disappoint. Great casual outdoor seating.

Re: “How my mother's illness made me a healthier ally

Hi Ms. Parks,
Like your mother, my father was diagnosed with Waldenstrom's around the same time; another one in a million. My father, like your mother, always seemed invinsible to me. An airframe and powerplant mechanic, my dad can fix nearly everything. If he needs a special tool, he will often manufacture his own to get the job done. He recently finished chemo and radiation therapy and continues to lead a normal life in his mid 70's. He walks miles each day. 4 years ago my best friend was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He survived less than two years. I think of him every day. In August of last year I had a mild side ache that wouldn't go away. Just months earlier at age 50, my yearly exam numbers were perfect. I was a healthy guy. One CT scan later that day revealed a baseball sized tumor in my kidney, a week later my kidney was removed. I was diagnosed with clear cell renal carcinoma. Last week a thumbnail sized portion of my left lung was removed as a nodule was present and growing. I'm happy to say I'm now NED. I have everything to live for. I feel great. I'm blessed to have a lot of people who care about me, my medical team, family, and friends, some of which have experienced what I am currently going through and many who haven't, which is okay, even if they share a story of someone who has made it or someone who hasn't. I listen and thank them for sharing. They want to be closer to me and I let them. I answer their questions and ease their curiosity. I try to bring them happiness and show them that I appreciate their company. I owe that to them for the time we share. What your friends are trying to offer to you is hope, that's really their message, even if hidden in their words that put you in a place you would rather not be. Hope is a powerful feeling that can cut right through feelings of guilt and fear. Hope fills the heart and makes everything okay.

Re: “How a S.C. nuclear power plant project could affect the chips in your iPhone

Yes, Lynnar, nuclear power is much better than using coal. And I do want wind mills in my neighborhood. Maybe we ought to ban private jets. But of course Trump would veto such a law.

Re: “How a S.C. nuclear power plant project could affect the chips in your iPhone

Well, you don't want coal for your electricity. So what do you want? This is a cleaner way for electricity. No way to make anyone happy. You want wind mills? Oh, not in my the Kennedy's in Hyannis Port. And it's okay for them to use private jets and pollute the air. You can go solar...SCE&G and Duke lease now. Will not cost you anything if you own a house. If you rent a home, speak to the owner of the house and ask them if they can lease the solar panels. I am shocked that CA has not made solar mandatory in their state. Aren't you????

Re: “Lewis Barbecue's brisket will make you moan

Best BBQ in the city. Regardless of price, John Lewis provides the southern region with something they've sadly been missing for years. A steer sized hoof in the back end. Up your game you pork cookers.

Re: “First they stole Brock, now Nashville chefs are after Mike Lata

Charleston is losing steam. They've welcomed too many tasteless midwesterners and cruise ship filled fattys wearing palmetto visors and eat at Bubba Gump shrimp. The fact that Charleston continues to build hotel after hotel instead of tempering demand has caused the talent of this town to drop off. It's no wonder all the hipsters have left the downtown scene behind and migrated to the neck in search of their safe space.

Re: “Fast and French joins growing national trend, eliminates tipping

good for you Fast and French.

I knew when tip jars started showing up at fast food franchises it was time to make a stand.I now enforce my own no tipping policy. works like a charm.

hey restaurants...start paying your staff a living wage and stop relying on customers to subsidize your labor cost.

but alas...t'would be like asking a leopard to change its spots

Re: “Brett Bursey has been organizing for more than four decades

I have known Mr. Bursey since the time of his famous protest against President Bush Jr. in a so-called protest free-zone. I even appealed to President Obama to pardon Mr. Bursey. If anyone knows the meaning of protest and civil disobedience it's my friend Brett Bursey!
