Re: “Future Islands' Sam Herring talks about Letterman, chest-beating sincerity, and what's next

Should have asked about the round robin show he did with Toro y moi back in the day behind Andolini's on Wentworth or his old project Art Lord & The Self Projects who played in Summerville way back when.....

Re: “Spring Jam needs volunteers

They are not unpaid, they are getting an all access pass to the event in exchange for a couple of hours work. In mat's world they should probably form a union, hold the event hostage for higher wages and force the event to have to charge triple the ticket price to break even. That way it will only happen once because nobody will be willing to pay $90 for a cool little local music festival. And then nobody will have to worry about anyone ever being asked to work the event for free ever again. That is good ole liberal problem solving in a nutshell!

Re: “Spring Jam needs volunteers

Don't be an idiot. Festival volunteers trade a few hours of their time for a free admittance. I don't imagine being admitted into your presence would be a draw for anyone.

Re: “Spring Jam needs volunteers

So, if I ask you to volunteer some office space, or computers, or content for a new project I'm working on, you'd totally do that because it would be a "good decision" on my part?

Great!

I look forward to getting your support! For free!

Re: “Spring Jam needs volunteers

Mat, what you're missing is that a short-time festival can't hire good help. Spoleto, Piccolo, SEWE, all such events need hundreds of people to provide menial labor (ushering, program handouts) for a few hours at a time. They don't need an 8-hour day from unskilled folk, and for their short shifts, they can't pay enough for people to get there and get trained. Trading admittance for a few hours labor from interested, motivated people is a good decision.

Re: “Courtland Taylor drops new album

"Taylor is musically inspired by artists like MGMT and Skrillex, while songwriting-wise, he looks up to Conor Oberst and Citizen Cope."

So much fail in that sentence. Amazing.

Re: “Spring Jam needs volunteers

Hey, getting unpaid labor is the best way to "go big". http://theweek.com/articles/545237/why-sou…

Re: “Bridge Run music lineup announced

Oh Yea Warwit, well I'd rather have DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince but that ain't happening either. This Band lineup looks great.

Re: “The Dirty Dozen Brass Band's Roger Lewis defends New Orleans' signature art form

The real impact that the Dirty Dozen had on Brass bands was their recordings. There were very few recordings of Brass Bands before the Dirty Dozen and those were poorly recorded in the streets.

Re: “Hunter Park talks about growing up trans in Charleston

You go Hunter! When the kids were growing up Hunter was always one of my favorites among my kids friends. She was always upbeat, always incredibly well-mannered in that old southern way that many of the kids just don't have (her grandmother did a fine job), quite talented and my favorite (of course) - well dressed. I'll say it again, You go Hunter!!
