I talked to an employee at a local Sunoco, and he said each station now has a "beer supervisor" who's main job is to keep the growler stations full and fresh. He gets a few more bucks to be trained and in charge, and takes the responsibilities away from other managers. This will make for consistency in quality and, as you said, sanitizing of growler bottles which can grow some unique cultures when left out in the sun. In any case, buy local and support locals whenever possible. But, vendors, make it affordable, please.
"Sunoco and their Craft Brew stations"
Or you could support local businesses that sell these same beers in growler and bottle form. The local guys also do a better job of sanitizing your bottles and keeping their beer lines clean. Just a tip if you prefer buying local and getting better quality.
We were at the Beer Garden. Nice that the sun was not out, as heat and beer do not mix well after a few hours. I found the selections varied, all cold, and we did manage to try 6-7 different brews without becoming comatose. I hope it returns next year. What a great advertising event for Sunoco and their Craft Brew stations. Bet they notice an increase in sales after this event. By the way, if you only want to "try" a certain brew at Sunoco, they usually have the growler varieties in a bottle. Not quite as good as a draft, but gives you a chance to wander through brew forests and try different brands and styles. I know my draft puller's name, now, at my local Sunoco.
Steve Fiore is the man, soooo talented
Hell, even I liked Chai's.
Sorta.
This place would be Club 54 in Toledo. At this pace, with the Matrix style clubs going up, upper K will soon look like Market street. Then we'll be forced to follow the kids to Hipsterborough and live by the "be rich, dress poor" code of coolness. Never really understood why Chais never made it. I liked that place.
I think I've asked you before: may I please join you and your friends for a fun night on the town? I'm innocent, and I like to have a good time. I would look good in all of your pictures.
Erin Perkins articles are all pathetic. Another "big city feel" club....really?! bottle service, come on!! U love the big city, please go back to Ohio missy and spend ur nites behind a velvet rope In Toledo please!
The murals at Holy City Brewing are the work of Sean Williams, a local artist and all-around great dude. Check out his other murals in Avondale (behind Avondale Wine & Cheese) and Park Circle (EVO)
Another bar with a DJ. So original. Does anyone know when Coyote Ugly or Bar Louie is going to come to town and open shop on Upper King?
Also, I'm a hopeless romantic and fellow Jane Austen fan, and hope that the other Jane Austen fans won't be offended when I bring my Polar Bear™ cooler to the "Pride and Prejudice" discussion on Saturday!
I wish I could be part of The Scene.
Some of your friends look attractive and seem nice; methinks they could use a little Pronghorn.
South of the Border is now -- for a limited time only, and for the first time EVER -- giving out free fireworks*
*with the purchase of fireworks.
I just thought I'd point that out for the City Paper readers who are also Freeloaders because I'm trying to stay relevant and on-topic. (!)
Hey, these drivers are no worse than the typical tourist. But just be wary of them and don't get too excited. These folks help pay some of our bills with their dollars. And it is time to go shopping for furniture for the man cave, or the rental, or the double-wide, outside the dorms. These kids have no way of taking their stuff home, so they just leave it outside for anyone who wants it. Sort of like manna, or something.
Ah, the great pre-summer move out: downtown neighborhood streets suddenly have a dearth of parking spaces, late-nite weekend noise violations in residential districts drop 75%, and my car can more-or-less be safely parked without it's bimonthly hit-and-run incident.
And lets not forget the broken furniture and trash that line the curb for as far as the eye can see...
How do you get a graduate from the College of Charleston off your front porch?
Easy: Pay him for the pizza
" it all felt like a big frat party. We traveled on. As we approached Juanita Greenberg's however, we wished we'd stayed on Columbus street. Drunken multitudes were practically spilling out of the space"
What exactly were you expecting? Wow! People get drunk on weekends and holidays, and other days too! Film at 11!
Mondays hangover was off the charts. As far as the Drivers from TB...1-2 and you're money, 3-4 and the wheels start coming off, 4-5 and you better call mom to pick u up, 6-7 an it's a total dumpster fire from that point forward. Santis had a great crowd as well.
"You don't have to be rich to live the good life...."
but goddamn, don't it help?
Re: “Water, beer, and coffee make the world go ’round”
"But, vendors, make it affordable, please."
The local retailers sell beer at a small mark-up, which is fairly reasonable compared to the distribution mark-up. The local guys also carry more varieties of local and general craft beer, which is something Sunoco will never have.
