Re: “The Agenda: O'Malley to visit Chs.; Pols react to Syria strikes; Gowdy back into political spotlight

Trey Gowdy is perfect for the Republicans to run the investigation. He spent years trying to get an indictment on Hillary when the Rpubs swore there was irrefutable evidence, so I'm sure he won't find anything damning his own party.
Oh, and uh, Joe Wilson, I wasn't aware we were concerned about future missile attacks reaching us from an airbase in Syria.

Re: “Both sides await judge’s ruling on lawsuit challenging Charleston’s tour guide laws

Joseph P. Riley Jr. stated, People come here and they get ripped off or someone says, Well, Ill give you a tour, and they dont have the basic knowledge and give you a bunch of bum information that they eventually find that was bogus ..."

Pfffft. People come to Charleston and eat terrible food everyday and Joe isn't worried about the city's culinary reputation. Let the free market decide what tours sink or swim.

Besides, that test is an embarrassment. There is virtually no history about Africans or African Americans - you know, the people that constituted the majority population into the 20th century. The test is a reflection of what the old ladies in the preservation society value: the homes and gardens of rich people.

Then there's Ghost Tours. How in the wide, wide world of sports are you testing for the supernatural?

Here's an idea, Charleston: Come clean up the mess those horse carriages leave behind on my street and stop worrying about testing people on boxwoods and Adams architecture.

Lived in the UK for 4 years, have worked in Canada on and off for the last 10. I work in minimally invasive surgical equipment development.

Happy to send you photos of my London neighbors' NHS provided dental care. Suggest you don't look at them on a full stomach, son.

Re: “Pier 41's Southern/Asian fusion offers more than just a great happy hour

I've been a few times and keep going back. The happy hour oyster deal is simply the best deal in Charleston. Hands down. The fish tacos are amazing as well. It's just an appetizer, but I guarantee you'll want to order a another bowl after the first, try the edamame. It's unlike any other edamame anywhere. Delicious! Oh, if you like oyster shooters, try one. They make their own sauce and it's fantastic. I recommend sitting at the bar, adds to the experience watching the team work on preparing the plates.

Re: “Could Dems use Trumpcare's explosion to push for single payer?

Single payer has always been the goal, Obamacare was designed to fail just for that purpose. You like the inefficient soul sucking experience of the DMV? The confusion and complexity of the tax code in reverse? The friendliness of an ISIS bonfire and beheading? You're going to love single payer.

Need heart surgery? Here's two aspirin and wait in line, and oh, you can keep your doctor, if you like your doctor. Welcome to the democrat socialist plan for your slow agonizing death by a thousand cuts.

Re: “This season, the RiverDogs feature all-inclusive club level seating, but it'll cost ya

Ticket prices to R'Dogs games are twice as expensive as other teams in the SAL. Have a minor league tour planned that takes me to Columbia, Asheville, and Greenville on consecutive days. All seats all comparable to the $25 ones at the Joe - other teams charge $10 -$12. Columbia brand new stadium. Asheville has Oscar Blues party deck and other local options NOT Bud Light. Greenville has same dimensions and monster wall as Fenway and located downtown.
Guess if you can put the words Charleston and Yankee affiliate in your name then your product is somehow worth more.

Dems could try but under Gestapo Operative Party control, no chance in hades because they'd be cutting off their wallets to spite their "off shore" bank accounts.

Re: “Martha Lou's second location will open Wed. April 5

Let me start by saying 'The food was good'. frankly some of the best fried chicken I have had.

However, I had a bad experience at Martha Lou's.The 'Lunch' was $14.00 which includes a meat and three sides. Different options are available on different days. Includes a drink. That is a lot of food.

We arrived at 11:30am and, apparently, the meat had not finished cooking, which meant a longer than anticipated wait. No one ever took our drink orders, and so we had nothing to drink while waiting. When the waitress finally took our order, we got the meat and three sides (Fried Chicken, red rice, baked macaroni, and Lima beans). I then asked for a side piece of cornbread to go with my Lima beans, on the menu for 75 cents. The meal arrived on a styrofoam platter and was very hot and tasty. The sweet tea was Lipton instant tea with lemon. I really do not like lemon in my tea, but the tea was cool and I was thirsty, so I said nothing of it.

When it came time to pay my bill, I was expecting to pay $14.00 plus the 75 cents for my cornbread, plus tax. Instead I was told my bill was $21.00. It seems that at Martha Lou's they include the 3 CHEAPEST sides as part of your $14.00 meal, and then charge you the full price for the most expensive side as an extra cost. So instead of my 75 cent piece of cornbread, I was charged extra $5.50 for the baked macaroni. No offense, but for $5.50 I would expect a much larger portion of macaroni than the two spoon fulls you get.

That said, I am willing to try the new location, because, as I said, the food was very good. I will not be ordering cornbread though :-)

Re: “Two years after Walter Scott’s death, what has changed?

Guilt or innocence has yet to be determined for Walter Scott's killer, however, no one ever seems willing to address the factors that lead up to nearly 100% of these shootings.

Fighting with an officer.
Running from an officer.
Drug possession.
Outstanding warrants.
Previous arrests.
Commission of a crime.

While none of these initially should lead to a death sentence, it is these facts that initiate the encounter that ultimately leads to most police shootings. People need to understand you do not fight the law on the street, you fight in court. That may not be your preferred option, but it will not lead to your being shot in the street.

When the officer says 'Stay there', do not flee, approach the officer, or go somewhere else.

When the officer says, 'You're under arrest', you cooperate. The time to question the arrest is at the station, not in the street, and preferably with a lawyer present.

When the officer asks a question, answer it, even if it is , 'I do not know'.

Be respectful, even if the officer is not. His disrespect can be brought up to the judge later, or at the station if you wish to file a charge against the arresting officer. If you do not resist, and cooperate with the officer,; then the officer has no justification to use force.

Respect is a two way street. For someone to be respectful to you, you must be respectful to them. Lack of respect generates anger. Anger in you, anger in the officer, and this anger leads to violence, which can lead to injury or death. Be respectful to the officer. It costs you nothing. It shows you have a higher character, and may even get you a warning instead of a ticket.
