Re: “Emanuel AME pastor speaks out against campaign ad challenging removal of Confederate flag

It's not a violation. https://www.irs.gov/uac/charities-churches…

Notably: "the ban by Congress is on political campaign activity regarding a candidate; churches and other 501(c)(3) organizations can engage in a limited amount of lobbying (including ballot measures) and advocate for or against issues that are in the political arena."

Tired of rate hikes? Stop supporting a political and economic system that allows corporations to monopolize utilities and forces taxpayers to subsidize their inevitable inefficiencies and losses.

Re: “Best Hip-Hop Club

These are not hip hop clubs at all. When has any of these venues downtown ever dedicated a night strictly to hip hop? This is a slap in the face to residents who live here that really know what's going on.

Re: “Emanuel AME pastor speaks out against campaign ad challenging removal of Confederate flag

Is this a violation of the churches 501-3C tax status with the IRS? Tax Free Status? Separation of Church
and Partisan Politics? Just Asking!

Re: “Best Hip-Hop Club

Let's be serious CCP, there are NO Hip Hop clubs Downtown! Not a single club. Just because they play a few Rihanna or Drake songs DOES NOT make them a Hip Hop club. DO BETTER !

So, when these reactors are finally built, will those SCE&G rate hikes go away, or is it like these temporary tax hikes that just never go away?

Re: “Best Hip-Hop Club

Come on CCP we just talked about this last week. And y'all agreed with me that there isn't a hip hop scene especially at these particular clubs. Totally not with it!!!!

Re: “Best Hip-Hop Club

There are no Hip Hop clubs in downtown Charleston. Just because a club/bar may play a few Hip Hop songs does not qualify them as a Hip Hop club. And just because you've seen people of color in a certain establishment (or because the DJ is a person of color) doesn't make the club a Hip Hop club either. This category is a lie and needs to be removed.

Mat Cat, if God's Mighty Hand will deliver us from rising sea levels, why doesn't he go a little further with his Mighty Hand and deliver us from famine, pestilence, war and starvation? What hogwash.

Re: “Blondie the horse's accident raises moral questions about the carriage tour industry

Gail Kof. Are you aware the average draft horse weighs between 1500 and 2000 pounds. You don't hear any horses cry because they don't cry! You dern sure don't hear carriage horses cry. Never happens nor has it happened. You seem to be very uninformed about horses. You certainly are the definition of ultracrepidarian!

Re: “Best Hip-Hop Club

I think the criteria was, based on the winner and runner-up: "have you ever seen more than one group of people there with at least one person of color in each while Hypnotized played."

As covered in previous CCP columns, downtown doesn't welcome the hip hop business, and it doesn't welcome the hip hop crowd. Playing songs from rap albums that I bought during the Clinton administration does not a hip hop club make.

Re: “Best Local Hip-Hop Artist

Louie D is NOT a Hip Hop artist. After all the artist who have had interviews in the paper (Anfernee, Benjamin Starr, Matt Monday, Salis) this is the best "Hip Hop" artist you could find. Someone who isn't even remotely hip hop. I have been on the cover of the Charleston City Paper for Hip Hop and no even a nomination. Once again I am soooo disappointed in the paper. This was NOT a representation of the city what so ever, and I thought the Charleston City Paper was just that. Do better

Re: “Blondie the horse's accident raises moral questions about the carriage tour industry

There should be a scale to weigh the passengers that are signed up for one carriage before loading it up. Some of these people are heavier than the horses. Each carriage should have a total weight limit for every group going on board before it is allowed out. The maximum temperature that the horses are allowed out should be lowered to 80. These horses are miserable I hear them crying during the tours. Seeing them makes Charleston less desirable as a place to live.
