As a teacher in a Title 1 School, I am very concerned about Tom Ducker's proposals and policies. It would hurt class sizes and therefore reduce jobs in low income schools. He is NOT the right choice for our CCSD family.

Henry Copeland is a passionate, dedicated and extremely knowledgeable member of our community who needs to be on our school board!!!!

Just because her niece was teaching children to read at 3 doesn't mean she should expect all our children to be reading by then. I didn't say it was impossible to begin teaching children to read by that age. I said it was ignorant to assume our children will be behind if they are not readers by then. Lucky for her there are two seats open in North Charleston and people are tired of Chris Collins. Seems like she might be a winner by default.

Lecque has also taken and passed the Praxis exam for teachers. her neice was teaching others to read at 3. So go figure. The disconnect is with you not knowing what you think you know about this lady. Leave it alone, will you!

Vote Tom Ducker! I listened to all the candidates speak at College of Charleston and his ideas seem the most innovative and can actually accomplish the boost in education that this district needs. He wants to focus on the outcome of the students, not just the process. Too often are our teachers handed a lesson and told, "Here, teach this." That isn't cutting it! If we want our teachers to be effective we have to let them teach the content and not the test. He also wants to implement a teacher evaluation program. While this makes me nervous as a future educator, I have witnessed poor teaching in many Charleston county schools. I believe teachers should be evaluated in some capacity to ensure they are truly good educators. I'm with Ducker all the way for this seat! Let's reduce the size of the classroom, let's implement mentor programs, let's make sure teachers are receiving good pay. He's got some good ideas and I believe he can bring some positive change to this district.
Lecque might have been nicknamed "The Educator" by the City Paper, but being a substitute hardly qualifies. Sorry, but this lady has a serious disconnect with early childhood education, "If our children are not reading by age 3, they are already behind." GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! I've been teaching 2- and 3-year-olds for four years and that's just not going to happen. I'd like to see her teach a 3-year-old to read.

For God's sake (or to whomever you reach out to) vote for Henry Copeland! I've known this honest, hardworking man going back to the early 70's. He has been at times on the otherside of me in issues involving history and comunity tolerance of the many inconvienances that they face in everyday life. I've always come out of these affairs with a distinct feeling I had met my match and he was an honest, hardworking foot soldier that knew no fear and had a obligation to help the little faceless persons that make up the majority of Charleston. Your vote for him instantly removes the lack of experience exibited by the many other canidates. He will save you money, get a better education for the childern, and pre advise you of any shortfalls of duty by the schools or the administration of the same. When I first encountered Henry I thought he would make a fine battleline soldier as a Lt. Now I see him as a progressive hardcharging Col. of the kind we breed into the mythical heros of western civilization. A vote for him will not be wasted and you will reap years of exciting leadership. He does not walk out of meetings and his remarks are not made for the purpose of self interest or glorification. You will not be disappointed!

we vote for everyone on this election day in reguards to the schoolboard. I would hope someone would look at Henry Copeland, a canidate, and a role model of the type of individual we want to represent us. I have been an oponent of Henry's efforts in manageing Tourism in Charleston. I quickly started to follow his line of thought and found him to be Honest, VERY HARD WORKING, and a avocate of decent education in the downtown school districts. When he was found sitting outside the principal's office (quite often) he was seeking clarification on school rules and the limits of goverment. He is simply put an honest, knowledgable, deep researching very hard working person that would make us all proud. Vote for Henry and you will elect the type of individual we need! Next, I've got to quit writing my opinions at 3:45 in the mordning!
