Merry Chrimbus one and all. Remember everybody you must keep your "Chrimbus Bush" trimmed and wet in order for the "Winter Man" to come out of his Winter Cave to put presents in your Chrimbus Bush.
So wtf happened with Nick Fury, Kingpin, Perry White and Heimdall?
Why does everyone care about St. Nick? His return only marks the coinciding return of Krampus!
Arguing over fictitious characters is crazy, but it shows how pervasive racism is. When the movie, The Hunger Games, opened last year, some white people were upset that Rue and Cinna were black, despite the fact that the author clearly stated so. Now, everyone (black and white) is getting all riled up over Santa's race. Can we just stop the madness? My kids don't care what color Santa Claus is... they're more concerned about being good so they can get everything on on their lists.
What's really retarded is reading something that you say causes you to be retarded, and then commenting on it.
This paper/author suck.
I feel a little more mentally retarted every time I read this bullshit
As you were mental midgets...
Jesus recruited fishermen to abandon the commercial fisherman's life and wander the countryside with him in a fairly mendicant life style. These fisher folk worked hard and, as is still often the case even today, had little material gain. Though he is never reported scripturally to have done any fishing of his own or taught anyone to fish he was able to multiply the volume of fish and loaves to feed multitudes, who, for their part are not said to have done anything to "earn" their share. If existing legends contain even a splinter of truth,
he consistently urged people to reject excessive acquisition of material wealth and phony display. Possibly, the new pope has rediscovered that thread in his teaching and will continue to proclaim it. Let's hope so.
Ned has always been a parody.
Is Ned parodying himself now?
Well, let's not forget that while Santa may be fictitious, he was in fact based on a historical figure. And that person was caucasian. Let's also be honest and admit that he was a Republican and free market capitalist, and most probably a Christian. We already know he's an old white man. So that information, combined with his MO, and based on yearly surveys of charitable giving, it would make sense to think that he was in fact a Christian, Republican, & free market capitalist.
Jesus was most certainly a conservative, capitalist, and supporter of democracy. He clearly respected government, but most assuredly believe in a limited government with low taxes. Teach a man to fish, rather than merely give him a fish.
Merry Christmas, everyone!!!
I'm just saying. Santa Clause is dead. No, not exactly. He never really existed. Parents sneak around and buy present for kids and put them under a paganistic tree and trick them into thinking they come down the chimmney. Even kids whose houses have no chimmney fall for this. But ask them how anyone can come down a chimmney with a snow white beard and not get soot on it? Since Santa is a myth, so you can make him any color you want.
So unlike Chris. Almost the writting of a moderate agnostic.
Punax: the idea that Jesus never existed is a VERY fringe position among experts on the topic. There's more evidence for his historical existence than there is for plenty of other ancient people, Socrates among them.
People of Arab/Middle Eastern descent are considered "white" for purposes of filling out government forms and not much else. Of a Hollywood casting agency issued a call for "Arab-looking men" do you think you'd fit the bill because you have a scraggly beard Chis? Do you think this guy (http://www.popularmechanics.com/cm/popular…) would get the role if they asked for a "bearded white male?" No, and no. So while you may be technically right (the best kind of right) according to government standards of whiteness, but popular standards (the ones that really matter when it comes to race) you are wrong.
Not only that but Santa Claus is ...god forbid...
"asked if I had ever seen a "black Santa".
I thought Santa was a "jolly old elf".
I am loath to question Megan Kelly's profound scholarship, but there is considerable uncertainty about Jesus' existence being an historical fact. His historical existence is strangely under documented, considering the age and location assigned to him. I think someone, a kind of "wisdom teacher" or esoteric philosopher did really live in such a place and such a time. But a suspicious number of god-man themes arise in his story--Perseus, Attis, Adonis, et al. I like many of the sayings and apparent values attributed to him in scripture. I assume that his skin was darker than mine or Megan's.
As a sort of Turk, Santa was also probably fairly swarthy and we do know that St. Nicholas did exist and did certain things.
Last year, at about this time of year, a cute little African American girl came up to me in the mall and asked if I had ever seen a "black Santa". To which I truthfully replied yes, I had seen several. Happy Christmas to all!
