Hard to rate, here's why: First time we stopped in on a quiet day, the service was a little slow but food was fine, so we decided to revisit on a Friday night. The place was full, but we were seated quickly. We waited for about 5-7 minutes, then the waitress came over to take our drink order (clue #1). When she returned with just 2 waters she said "Ill be honest, I forgot what drinks you ordered" (clue #2). When she came back with our drinks, she took our order--and repeated it as we ordered it. As i watched the tables that she was assigned to it was clear she was totally 'in the weeds' but the host kept seating her section (4 additional tables while we waited for our food to arrive- clue #3). Our food arrived, but half of my date's order was wrong. She said she would go fix it and be right back. We began to eat, but sadly discovered both of our orders were cold. Cooks don't put up cold food to go to a table, it gets cold when wait staff let it sit in the window too long. The food was good, but would have been super had it been served hot. The 'wrong' part of my date's food never got fixed. Nichole (waitress) kept coming by & filling water/tea & saying, "Oh yeah, let me get the other part of your order" but it just never happened. When she came to drop off our check, she said "oh gosh, i never brought the other part of your meal! Do you want it to go?" When we said No, she went on to say "you can take it home & eat it". Um, again, No thanks, we wanted to eat it here, not home. She didnt even remove the unreceived food item off of the check. *** Owners please take note: good food can only keep a place afloat so long, when the service is bad, people won't return! It would be a shame to go out of business because of your servers' poor service.
We came into to Sweeney's restaurant tonight for the first time and had the BEST service and the food was AMAZING! All four people in our party cleaned our plates completely with no left overs (which is never the case). The atmosphere was very cozy, CLEAN, and friendly. I already plan on going back later this week!

My husband and I stopped in to Cypress for a cocktail and an appetizer prior to our reservation at Blossom for Restaurant Week, the bartender had no problem expressing his negative opinion of restaurant week. I understand the discontent at having lower total sales therefore lower tips, but for the hour that my husband and I were at his bar we were the only customers so due to Restaurant Week, the bartender made a bonus $10 tip ($35 check) off of people that would not have been there on a normal Sunday evening. Every dollar counts, not just for those receiving the tips, but for those giving the tips as well.
Restaurant Week gives us a chance to try something different, and a good reason to treat ourselves. If you feel that the restaurant is not being properly showcased with the special menu, speak up. I have to believe that the star chefs of Charleston do not want their Restaurant Week menus to be their dirty little secrets. Restaurant Week is a chance for locals to get out and try something new, why not showcase your best dishes on these menus? I would not find a smaller portion of your award winning dish unreasonable when the special three course menu is the same price as a regular entree.
Restaurant Week has won again! We went to Blossom Sunday night for the special menu and, in addition, tried the gnocchi. The food was delicious and our service was excellent. Thanks Rick, and Blossom for a wonderful dining experience!
the smoking option is the ONLY attraction. Better to just quit smoking!
My girlfriend and I went to Triangle in Mt P on Friday night and had a wonderful dinner. It was very crowded but we were greeted within seconds and had our choice of sitting inside or on the patio. Our server was very attentive, plus two different managers came by at different points to ask if everything was good. But the real reason I came here to make a post was the food. As a quasi-vegetarian, it's not easy to find real, healthy options around town that are also yummy. Triangle is one of the exceptions. They have a plethora of delicious, health-conscious menu items. In addition to the excellent service and wonderful food, the prices are some of the best you're going to get. Charleston has a gazillion great restaurants to choose from but I can honestly say that Triangle is in my top five, maybe even top 3.
Tried out this place and enjoyed it. I indulged in the large tequila selection and the enchiladas were great. I highly recommend the chorizo paired with a moscow mule to bring out the true flavor. It's a refreshing change of pace from the refried scene.

I took my wife to Circa 1886 for our anniversary and had the best time. As we live in Atlanta, I always recommend Circa 1886 to travelers. People say that it is off the beaten path but I am a believer in "The Road Less Traveled" - and it made all the difference!
This was a restaurant week ripoff. A friend tipped me off to this place, and described it as a sort of tapas bar that had really good selection of smaller foods. The tacos were excellent, and it was a good time. I reviewed the restaurant week menu, and thought it would be worth a try.
Last night I went out to a relatively uncrowded place on the public side. The end result, poor service, decent food, and an expensive check. By far, the service was the worst thing going here. Three times I ran out of water. This place is small, and there are not many tables. There should be no excuse for not getting a refill. Having to ask for a refill is in bad form. I had to do this twice. The appetizers were ok, but not thing to write home about. The main course, we got the taco appetizer and the enchiladas. When you see four tacos on a menu for a main course, you would assume that they would indeed be tacos. This was not the case. The tacos were the size of a mason jar lid. Estimate 3" diameter, and these were "tacos". While some were good, they were definitely not mind blowing, and not at all filling. My enchiladas were okay, but nothing mind blowing. For our dessert, the churros were good, but again not mind blowing.
This resulted in a check of around $45 and at best I would say we received $30 of food. The service was terrible, I can't recommend this place to anyone. Other wait staff were decent, from what I could overhear they did a fine job. Even with that being removed, the food was overpriced for what we paid. We won't be back. I suggest you stay away. If you do intend to go, be prepared to fight for parking as a result of your efforts.
In Dec. I was in S. C. and by accident I found "JESTINE"s. There was a parking space on the side of the restaurant but the sign said, "no parking 2 - 7 p m". It was after 7 so I parked there. I asked inside if they thought it was O K if I parked there. The Manager said, "Will, you may or may not get a ticked". So I went to move my car and the Manager came out with me. He asked if I saw the white truck parked down the street, I said, "yes", he told me to take that spot as soon as the truck moved. I asked how he knew it was going to move. He said, "I have the keys in my hand". What a graceious thing to do if we all could just be nicer to others it would be a better world. Now that's Southern Hospitality and he is a real Southern Gentleman. Thank you for that unusual experience. Jestine's is a fun place to be and the food is good also. Thank you!

After reviewing all the comments and giving each its implied rating, then averaging the total comment ratings, it appears McGrady's earns 2.7 stars. This would indicate you have about a 50-50 chance of enjoying your dinning experience there, and it will cost you dearly whether you win or lose on your visit. Realistically at the prices indicated, I would have to be assured a 4.5 star event before I would roll the dice on this place.
I will have to agree with the new years review we thought we would give the place a try thinking that since it was new years it would be extra special. What an absolute waste of money. Our new years was ruined due to the bland over expensive dinner that we had at McCradys. It is sad when you are sitting at a 7 course dinner at $150 a person and thinking maybe you should have just paid $100 for an open bar and h'ordeuvres elsewhere with more of an atmosphere and live entertainment.
I was at McCrady's last night, New Years Eve 2013, for dinner with my date. The food was absolutely awful (it was a 7 course chef's tasting menu). Each plate was priced at $150 for a total of $300 for both of us, or so we thought. Our waiter asked us if we wanted to have wine that complimented each course, which we did. At the fourth course, we were so disappointed in the quality of the food that we elected to leave without having the last two courses. The food was that bad. I was stunned at the poor quality, and the experienced ruined our New Years Eve celebration. So when our bill came, we were charged almost $600 dollars for the disaster that was McCrady's restaurant. That's right, $600 dollars for two people. I am a resident of this area, and I can say that the meal we had at McCrady's restaurant was the worst I have ever had. I would not even to be able to rate this experience as a one star.
Place is GREAT!
While our brunch today at Bluerose was good, if unremarkable, from a culinary perspective, the service was shockingly bad. I met a number of girlfriends who were visiting from out of town. We had two babies and a toddler in our party. While the babies made a typical mess (crumbs on the floor around their highchairs and napkins that had fallen to the floor), it was not extraordinary. Toward the close of our meal, a man came out and handed me a push sweeper and told me to "clean up our mess or pay extra." Dining with children, I always pick up after them (we were still seated with plates on the table at this point), and I typically leave a generous tip for the server to compensate him or her for having to deal with any mess left behind. Here, in a room full of other patrons, my friends and I were left, stunned, to clean the carpet. In perfect fairness, the waiter who served us for the majority of the meal was lovely and as this incident wasn't his fault, I didn't withhold a tip.
I live in the neighborhood, and try to eat out predominately at local restaurants. I'm also typically relatively forgiving of minor glitches or service errors, but I have never felt so unwelcome at a restaurant. I will not be returning, and I plan on sharing my experience with all of my friends, particularly those with children so that they don't suffer the same humiliating experience.
Not sure about the crab all you can eat, but I have been three times to the oyster roast on Fridays. First time, they ran out by 6:30, and I credited that to lack of experience. The next two times, though, I have been very pleased. Plenty of oysters, cooked just right, and $2.00 drafts during the happy hour. The cooker keeps the oysters coming, and the folks around me were also pleased. Definitely a place to go for good oysters and cheap beer. Isn't that the definition of a good oyster roast? Highly recommend, and will be taking friends along tonight for another round. By the way, stay away from the same event at the Noisy Oyster on Thursday nights. Overcooked every time, and as the evening wears on, the salt in the cooker becomes more and more pronounced. They don't add any water to the steamer as the steam escapes. The oysters are overcooked and tasteless.
