I have always had excellent service here. The ambiance is appropriate and the food is great. It is one of my favorite restaurants, and I'm so glad I don't have to leave West Ashley to eat there!

Got takeaway from there the other night. Clearly, there is some Chinese and Thai influence on the menu to make it more suitable for American tastes, but it was all very good and the staff were sharp and on the ball.
My girlfriend and I recently returned to the USA after living in Hanoi. I formed an addiction to Vietnamese food while living overseas and have been consistently disappointed by the lack of authenticity of Vietnamese restaurants in the southeast. That is, until my first visit to Mi Xao. The pho bo is absolutely perfect, it truly makes me feel like I'm back in Vietnam. The owner, Toan, is a gentleman and is always incredibly friendly to us every time we come by. Mi Xao has become my favorite restaurant over the last few months and has been a huge help for me personally transitioning back to life in the USA! If you are thinking about stopping by, I can not recommend Mi Xao more!
Solid thai cuisine for the price point. It's unfortunate that they've had to deal with whatever sewage issues that side of King has had, since I'm sure that's affected the ability to sit down and enjoy your meal. The stench of the sewage in the restaurant is overbearing even when retrieving my to-go order, so I hope that they can fix that situation. But, Dani is a doll and the staff is always kind. My favorite Pad See Ewe when I'm craving both sweet and spicy.
I am an Afro-American male from Philadelphia, PA and have eaten Vietnamese food for forty years.
The Pho was very tasty, service great: only the second time being served by non-Vietnamese waiters. Although the Pho was very good I have never paid $9.99 for a medium size bowl of Pho. I would eat there again.
Been here many times... Love the food (taste, & great portions), love the staff (very attentive), and such attention to detail for a small place... Perfect!
This place rocks. Tucked away in a little shopping center on the 41 - 17 corner, it's not easy to find but worth it. Chef Toan (pronounced Twan) always has a smile on his face and couldn't be nicer. He'll sit with you if he's not too busy and talk food. The salads are awesome and the Pho is great on a cold day.
I have had a lot of Thai food. Since Jasmine closed on Folly Road and driving to Basil is such a pain, we decided to give this place a try for lunch. We ordered Thai Tea (the bomb) an order of Basil Shrimp Spring Rolls (fresh and delicious), Phad Thai (much better than the Mustard Seed (theirs is gross!) and Massaman Curry (oh yeah!). It was all very, very good. Portions were just right, the spice was good. We will definitely be back. This is a great place to grab lunch or dinner or even take out. The decor is not much to write home about, but it's very convenient since it's on James Island!! We are lacking good food choices on the island. Thank you Pick Thai !

Oh my gosh. I'm shocked this has 4 stars... the food and service are both MEH. I wouldn't say it's terrible but definitely MEH.
How do three 5-star reviews average out to 4.6 stars? Charleston City Paper, you got some splainin to do.
You can taste the love they have for the food they prepare.
I have eaten lunch here several times and have been completely satisfied on each visit. The service and food are excellent. You will not be disappointed.
We eat at Phuong at least once a week. It is very good, very traditional southern Vietnamese food. The pho is tasty and the broth very flavorful. My favorite is the rice vermicelli with grilled beef and egg rolls. Another excellent option is the house special fried rice. It's loaded with diced carrots, peas, and Chinese sausage.
For something out of the ordinary try the bahn xeo, a Vietnamese fried pancake made from rice flour stuffed with shredded cabbage, onions, and a variety of other fillings. The bun bo hue is another standout dish. It looks intimidating since it's swimming in chili oil, but it's not really that hot.
Service can be slow, but it's worth the wait. Phuong and her husband are from Belgium and they don't speak English very well, so there can be a language issue. Feel free to practice your French, though.
Huge portions, affordable prices, delicious food, and great service. What more could you ask for?
