Re: “Bill Murray, Mike Veeck, and Brad Creger's Food Truck-O-Rama is happening

I doubt the parking they plan to have will suffice considering the crowd other food truck parks I've seen have attracted. With them being right off the exit, that would be a HORRIBLE place to bottleneck...Hope they can make it work since it's a great idea and is around the corner from my office!

Re: “CCPL announces finalists for director position

Don't judge on recent past experience. These individuals are highly qualified library leaders. There are more commonalities among library users across the country than there are differences and learning the differences is important for success. Today's public libraries are all about literacy - basic, early childhood, digital, cultural, information, STEAM, workforce for ALL! Something needed throughout Charleston County! Something the County Council needs to earn and support! The community certainly supported it when we voted to tax ourselves to the tune of $108M to improve, upgrade and expand library facilities to deliver the 21st century services needed to be successful in our chaotic, changing local environment. We deserve a leader who can build a team and bring the staff along to achieve this. Charleston County deserves no less than any other community in SC or the U. S.

Re: “5Church's offerings are perfectly pedestrian

We sat at the bar, had 2 cocktails, ($25) read the menu and got out. The cocktails were very good, but, bored by the menu. Have not wanted to return.

Re: “Lagunitas to convert Southend Brewery building into tap room and event space

Best news ever. What a tremendous upgrade this will be. Lagunitas is craft-oriented, while at the same time benefitting 50% from international titan Heineken, so this amazing change should be here to stay. Finally somebody's going to put that facility to good use. This is an utterly tremendous boon for the East Bay scene. Southend – albeit local – brews horrible beer; Lagunitas is (after Mendocino and one or two others) one of my favorite West Coast breweries.

I'm over then moon about this.

Finally, good beer will be coming from this location. Rumor has Roanoke, VA as new East Coast distributing landing spot.

Re: “Is Charleston next in line to take a stand on plastic bags?

We use our own bags so we don't have to use paper or fucking plastic.

Have that.

Remember kids, no one can run your local public library system like a professional from out of state.

"Any mention of big local music support should probably include WYLA FM 87.5, which plays almost entirely local music 24/7."

Re: “Is Charleston next in line to take a stand on plastic bags?

Ima,

I had a reply going to you, but it might make a better column than reply.

At the very least, can you provide some link to the historical context instead of just your recollection?

Re: “Is Charleston next in line to take a stand on plastic bags?

Yes there are more important issues, but it's also a good idea not to look over the seemingly small ones like this. Paper and plastic mills are a huge part of the issue that I'd like to hear more about, but this is just a brief article, not an essay.
Being able to recycle them from home like we do paper and plastic would encourage the consumer to be more thoughtful. Also, awareness of issues is the first step.

Oh yay. More uptown housing being replaced by commerce. Way to go, rich guys. Thanks for caring about the community.
