Re: “Weekend Round-Up: Summer, summer, summertime

More beer for more loser drunks. Great. Thats what we need.

Just dont go to Folly Beach or your will be interned in a camp with blow up beach balls and then an endless loop of that idiot mayor speaking.

Re: “The Eroding Edge of America

Yeah this is just another sign of how bad off our country is. A bunch of new money thinks they own the beach and will run it their way.

Yeah right. This is a joke. Folly beach is like Greenacres on the coast. Joke.

Do you think the early violent threats were from philanderers, or from insurance/disability fraud-ists?

Re: “Crisis Ministries launches internal investigation, continues fundraising efforts

That's not what she did. My understanding is that she took Crisis Ministry's checks, made out to vendors, and put them in her account.

What you're doing is what she should have been doing: putting them in CM's account.

(Also, believe it or not, there are a few banks out there that will *not* let a person other than the account holder deposit money in an account.)

Re: “Crisis Ministries launches internal investigation, continues fundraising efforts

I've never been asked for ID when making deposits only. Regardless of bank. I deposit my rent money into my landlord's bank account, and no one ever questions it. This is not really that surprising.

Re: “Folly Beach council members say they're not dysfunctional

"the mayor and city council are more concerned with profits for the businesses than providing a livable environment for the residents."

What issues of livability would you like to see addressed?

Re: “The Agenda: F&B on Obamacare; S.C. coast sees fastest growth; Winery releasing harbor-aged wine

Aquaoir - Mira Winery, which aged a case of Cabernet Sauvignon at the bottom of the Charleston Harbor earlier this year, is releasing a dozen of the 48 bottles (ABC News 4) as part of a $500 wine club package.

You want to know the difference between this wine and wine not aged for 3 months under water? Free advertising.

$48 for one bottle of Mira Cab.
$500 for one bottle of Mira Cab and one bottle of Mira Cab that sat in pluff mud for 3 months.

Re: “The PRISM compromise: Obama must allow camera crews to film him 24 hours a day

Yes, you're funny. Good job.

BUT, everything is a balance. I don't mind the government knowing what numbers I phone and who I write email to as a tradeoff for keeping terrorists from setting off bombs on planes I might fly on.

Re: “Folly Beach council members say they're not dysfunctional

I had a friend who lived on Jasper Street. I remember sitting in lawnchairs in her back yard drinking beer and watching the bumper to bumper traffic crawl toward the bridge. Then I moved to Folly. Go figure.

Re: “Mayor Riley and City Council have forgotten that Charleston is our home, not a trademarked tourist town

Great article! Just so sad that Riley is going this far! Leave Charleston alone, and stop thinking with your wallet and think with your heart. Riley, you of all people, should know that Charleston needs to stay true to its roots. Your proposal is so fricken stupid, you have to see how stupid it really is.

I remember that sign. On a back porch right at the fork in the road.

Re: “Chris Collins casts a sinister spell on the Charleston County school board

Mr Bubbles understands basic grammar about as well as Chris Collins understands the meaning of "conflict of interest." If the church had abided by the terms in the lease, AND if the church had paid its rent in a timely manner, AND if Chris Collins had objected when the board voted UNANIMOUSLY to terminate the lease, then there might be an argument. If "the community" can't pay what they agreed on when they originally negotiated the generous terms, then the community should find a new home. If they won't do that by the end of the month (when the lease ends) then Chris Collins should resign from the school board.

Re: “The Eroding Edge of America

Back before local governments took over the local beaches turning them into revenue gold mines for tourist dollar seeking "improvement" projects, there used to be a little homemade sign on Jasper Boulevard where traffic leaving the IOP and Sullivan's Island lined up bumper to bumper waiting to turn right onto Ben Sawyer Boulevard that read: "Next Time Try Folly Beach". While the origin of the sign was always mysterious, it seemed to suggest that beachgoers, frustrated by large crowds and heavy traffic, might have a better experience someplace else. Possibly this sign represented a somewhat feable and fruitless attempt by islanders then to retain some semblence of their community. As the IOP and SI were busy growing into mini Myrtle Beach, lots of sunseekers apparently did heed the message conveyed on that small sign which over time likely led to Folly becoming what it is today...unfortunately just another island community transformed into a briar patch of politics and development versus the dwindling few who once knew it as home. Maybe it is time for Folly Beach residents to put up a sign.

Re: “Folly Beach council members say they're not dysfunctional

I asked a friend to read the article who has no connection with Charleston, SC or Folly Beach and her reaction was "Hatchet job." Its like almost all the articles in the Charleston Paper post-public drinking ban: the world is coming to an end. As Charleston's pseudo-hipster publicity weekly, they must advocate for a cool place to drink PBRs and wear ironic tee-shirts.
