Re: “South Carolina bill to prohibit citywide plastic bag bans advances

Can you say "Talking out both sides of your mouth" WHAT????????????

It may not be an environmental problem in the Upstate and the Midlands, says Cronin, but here on the coast, pollution from plastics is something we have to worry about.

Re: “New bill aims to ban Confederate flags on public property statewide

Nimrata Randhawa, aka Nikki Haley, violated the terms of the compromise that brought the flag off the Capitol dome. She also, in doing so, removed the flag from the soldiers memorial, which serves not only as a tribute to American soldiers, but as a memorial for those who lau in unmarked and mass graves. You politicians vying for futu political position should take note that Nimrata is now in an out-of-the-way, dead-end job from which no one has ever advanced, and a conservative governor has replaced her. Perhaps it would benefit you to honor South Carolina's sons in gray, instead of dishonoring them.

He's a good man and a good leader. Try out his job for a week and see how well you naysayers fare.

Re: “New bill aims to ban Confederate flags on public property statewide

this is rank discrimination and an extension of the removal of the flag from the State grounds which was in turn a compromise in 2000-then Nikki Haley, because of Dylann Roof,a mental defective who assassinated 9 churchgoing black folks, abrogated THAT deal! an outrage to anyone who cares about their history!

Scott I sure hope the 50,000 was worth our childrens future and their futures. You say you struggled in North Charleston schools,so why would you want to make it that much harder for them. You want someone to take funding away from the schools where we as parents already bring all the necessary supplies and cut teachers wages. Maybe bank the 50k, your gonna need that to get interest because you sir will be voted out!

Nikki Hardin, yes I tried to call his office, had to leave voicemail. No assistant to field calls. Tried an email on his website. There was a box to check if I wanted a response -- I checked it. There was also a box to check if I wanted to receive his email newsletter -- I checked it. I got no response, but I did get his email newsletter.

No worries for Scott when he's lining his pockets with money from Betsy DeVos and then selling his vote. Oh and no worries when he makes it so difficult for constituents to get through to his offices to complain about this blatant conflict of interest.

So I guess he doesn't have to worry about South Carolina schools for a while. How's school choice going to go when a local charter school has had 8 principals in a many years? Does anyone feel confident about that? Hey kids in downtown Charleston that can't afford private schools, you want vouchers to schools far from your home that won't have buses? How far can you walk? Remember everyone: education is for the rich.

Re: “New bill aims to ban Confederate flags on public property statewide

My letter today to the Clerk of Courts - David Hamilton in York, South Carolina.
WHAT IS YOUR LETTER GOING TO SAY?
clerk.court@yorkcountygov.com

Hello Sir,
I am concerned with the rumors that our circulating in social media claiming you are NOT going to uphold your word we discussed?

You see kind sir as I said to you and your wife inside that newly refurbished courtroom...
I represent thousands upon thousands of good citizens across America.

See you can look at me as an unofficial spokes person for many southern heritage advocate groups across our great land.

I would like to save you the embarassment of thousands descending on your unsuspecting town of York.

This of course will be our only plan of action if the agreement is not met to do the morally and ethically correct decision.
I speak on behalf of the United States Citizens that are unhappy with the purging of our American history.

In closing, I hope this message finds you well and hope you do what is the best interest of this nation divided by standing behind your states history.

Very truly yours,

Jenna & Shorty

Re: “Let the Yorktown remind us of the fight for religious freedom

Happily support adding Saudi Arabia to the list.

If I gave you a bag of 50,000 jelly beans and told you 100 are poisonous, how many would you willing to eat?

Then why would we accept 50,000 individuals from terrorist supporting states, which have non-existent background checks, if some of them are bad?

Re: “Moving forward together after the Women's March

I was honored to have been asked to speak at the Charleston March. I chose to speak of the culture of rape that is growing in our society. This is not just a white problem. It is not just a black problem, It is not just a marginalized peoples problem. It is not just a transgender problem. It is our problem, one we need to face head on and demand our representatives address. And the same is true of almost every issue we face today. Think a woman's of colors issues are not yours. Think again. We are the people and we need to stand united and demand respect and dignity for all. Someone once said "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Whether you believe or not these are words to live by.

Re: “Stegelin: Smarter than the average troll

"So many threats to our future" Yeah, like the 1st amendment.

In June, Senator Sheldon Whitehouses (D-R.I.) urged the U.S. Department of Justice to consider filing a racketeering suit against the oil and coal industries for having promoted wrongful thinking on climate change, with the activities of conservative policy groups an apparent target of the investigation as well.

A significant step toward criminalizing policy differences and using litigation and government enforcement to punish opponents in public debate, and meshed with an existing fishing-expedition investigation of climate-skeptic scholarship by Whitehouse and other Democrats on Capitol Hill.
