There are simple answers and then there are simpletons. This guy is a pawn and he was obviously voted in by Republican or Teabaggers trying to embarrass the South Carolina Democratic party, which seems to be very easily manipulated.
The shame is that Mr. Green actually seems to believe he is electable. I wonder how many folks thought they were voting for The Reverend Al Green (the singer) in the primary.
I guess this is a real test for Yellow Dog Democrats. Al Green, Jim DeMint, or the yellow dog. I'll write in the dog.
Pictures of my bike not being stolen all over Charleston:

Wrong JasonScottinSC; South Carolina came in at a whopping #111, Clemson is ranked #64 of all universities and #23 for public institutions. Just because it's a big number doesn't mean USuCk is better; remember, the lower the number, the higher the rank. Of course you come by it honestly having learned all that moron math at USuCk.
JasonScottinSC. Actually, dude, among public universities, Clemson is ranked #23, while South Carolina is at 52.
Among all, Clemson is #64, while USC is #111.
Has anyone verified that Greene, indeed, does have a degree from USC or are they taking him at his word?
Check U.S. News and World Report.... the University of South Carolina is still ranked ahead of Clemson... in fact, Clemson dropped in this year's rankings. Still better than the Clemson! (And the baseball team just beat Clemson twice in the World Series to win the National Championship)
I like him. Commonsense answers, not some quasi-inspirational paragraphs that other politicians would come up with to try to impress voters.
I'm not sure if Im more embarrassed by Greene or Demint.
Wow - this guy makes former half-term governor Sarah Palin look almost half intelligent!
"The surprise U.S. Senate candidate reportedly has a degree in political science from a fully accredited outfit, the University of South Carolina. Of course, this fact is likely to make Gamecocks wince, and yet another reason for Clemson alumni to believe theirs is the superior state-run school. Which it is."
Thank God I went to Clemson.
You have a voice -- just be sure not to use it loudly after 11 p.m. There are people who have completed college living next to you and they have to go to work in the morning to earn the money they pump into the local economy.
On getting together with members of the opposite sex:
Show them something sexy on the computer. Ask them if you can maybe follow them up to their room. That's it.
This man is Barack Obama without a teleprompter. True story.
Hi I'm Alvin Greene, a moron so vote for me I'm running for U.S. (I think that's how you spell it) senate.........Someone please put this guy back on his medications. As far as his degree, it's probably a special ed degree. This guy and the family members urging him on are idiots. He is an embarrassment to S.C..
I wish I had this advice when I went to school.
Feel free to pump thousands of dollars into the local economy and then be treated like a free loader without a voice.
If your bike does get stolen (and this definitely couples smoothly with "Register...") check the local pawn shops. Since you've registered, you've got (1) the serial number and model and (2) a registration sticker on it. Unless a connected bike thief nabbed your bike, its next stop is one of the "fine" establishments of pawn around here. Upstairs at Gene's, for instance, are a ton of bikes... always worth a look, and if they're in possession of stolen property well that gives you a very good bargaining chip.
Or you could just get lucky and find it on someone else's porch like my sister did (note: at Cornell not CofC) and she took her bike back. Not wanting to leave the person empty-handed, she put a flaming bag of dog poo in its place.
Gordon Street between Rutledge and 12th turns into Lake Gordon, so avoid it. If you need to get somewhere in that part of Wagner Terrace from Rutledge, use St. Margaret or Grove. Rutledge does not get nearly as flooded as that stretch of Gordon. During that terrible storm in December 2009 (recall Mayor Riley shut off vehicular access to the Peninsula) the water reached just below my neighbor's porch. Avoid it during heavy rain, please.
Try Page's Thieves Market's auctions too!! Great deals almost every other Saturday. They have pictures posted from time to time with some of the upcoming items!! Saw a Porsche 911 be sold there a couple of weeks ago for 15K. Not bad. I personally bought a couch for a charity event for 5.00. REALLY NOT BAD!!!!!!!!!!
Re: “Furnishing a home on a college budget”
Actually most antique malls are not worth the time. They DO sell overpriced trash, junk, garbage. And about 90% of the stuff isn't even antique. That's why the store owners aren't even there.
