Why would someone downvote DMB Dubstep?
Prob. Ian would not want you to do a Fugazi cover band and if you did you better not make any money or charge for your show.
Yea, I know, I know.
I got a bad mouth.
always talkin shit haha
You're right. I can't be what I was so I better start being just what I am.
can't sit idly by, mat. you gotta fight for what you wanna be
"Charleston sure does love a good tribute concert."
And yet, every single time I mention my Fugazi cover band idea, all I get is crickets.

"So no threats of violence from the Christian community?"
There's plenty of psychological threats right here in these comments from "Christians".
So no threats of violence from the Christian community?
"Any mention of big local music support should probably include WYLA FM 87.5, which plays almost entirely local music 24/7."
Actually, any mention of big local music support should probably include WYLA FM >97.5<
which is what my fat fingers meant to type originally.
I'm a huge Susto fan, not just because their music is so damn good, but because Justin is living out his life through his music. He's all in... the good, the bad and the ugly. He holds nothing back. His Christian faith, or should I say "struggles" are all through their album, "Susto". They are a central theme. " Black River Gospel", "Black Jesus" and "Motorcycle Club" all are either direct or metaphorical Christian themes.
As a Christian, I love his brilliance and fearlessness in the way of approaches tough metaphysical questions. This is the point. Whether consciously or unconsciously, Justin Osborne is living out his faith through his songs, looking for truth and meaning and that is what great music is all about. Traditional Christians certainly might take offense with his "liberties" like the "Chillin with Jesus" song and video, but I see more going on here. Is Justin running from his "calling"? Is he trying to connect with his earthy, secular humanist fans...or is he asking the question, "what if we could be chilling on a beach with Jesus'? There is truth in every joke. Isn't he saying what he really wants to do is to be comfortable with Christ, chilling on the beach with a beer in his hand? Isn't that want we all want?
I have no doubt about Justin's pent up anger. I also have no doubt about his faith. Like each of us, he is a work in progress and a child of God. His music begs the question what do you believe? Until you can get people to open their mind and heart to that question, there can be no salvation. Preach on Brother Justin!
Isn't it a comfort knowing without a doubt....
To answer the above question about "Why are some youth pastors compelled to ......", I believe this youth pastor of whom I have great respect and appreciation for, saw that Justin Osborne has charisma and influence. His peers since youth have followed him on all sorts of adventures and wanted to be part of whatever "Justin" was promoting. It was evident to the youth pastor and evident to me. He can lead people in the right direction or lead them astray! With this God given gift/talent also comes great responsibility AND accountability! When Justin was in Junior Hi he had a T-shirt printed that said, "Hey, I live here and stuff". Sounds ridiculous but all of his friends went out and got shirts printed with that on it as well. He also started what was known as "The Hard Core Club" and had many members that met on a regular basis. So, the youth pastor was spot on. I can honestly see Jesus "chillin" on the beach with Justin or any of us and even drinking a beer....He did turn the water into wine. The song is catchy and fun. I even catch myself singing it. BUT, to see the actors in the scene under the tent pretending to be filled with the Holy Spirit bothered me. It still grieves me greatly. "God will not be mocked". Justin will have to answer for this one day and will be held to a higher accountability because he did accept Christ as his Lord and Savior. He DOES know the bible.... He and I were baptized together at the YMCA pool. This was a step that HE wanted to take and was in NO way forced. So he knows TRUTH and he could be an unstoppable force for good and spread the gospel of hope, love, forgiveness and mercy and ever-lasting life to so many that are searching for answers in a world that is out of control. Jesus is everywhere. Christians live all over the world. Southerners don't have a patent on Christianity. P.S. Don't be mad at me Justin! I'm just exercising my right to FREE speech just like you do with your music that I don't always agree with. I will always love you forever, no matter what! I'm still praying and believing that the desires of your heart will change and that you will have a "Road to Damascus" experience just like the apostle Paul had and that all of this running from God and living like the devil will one day be part of your extraordinary testimony that you will be singing about to audiences and friends everywhere.
It's always good to see a young artist come into their own. If it wasn't a bold outpouring from the depths, there would have been no apprehension. Why are some youth pastors compelled to launch random thoughts as if it were prophesy . . . unrealistic self-image?
Personally, I don't think the Lord has a problem with smart people thinking. Don't worry, Justin Osbourne, if Jesus doesn't give you a heart emoji for your effort, he will forgive you.
