Re: “Dirty Billy's Hats opens on Church Street this Saturday

Glad to see a quality store coming to Charleston instead of more tacky and tourist orientated junk stores and over priced coffee shops.

Re: “Dirty Billy's Hats opens on Church Street this Saturday

As a frequent customer to the Gettysburg store when I am in town, I can't think of a better addition to downtown Charleston. Hats are practical, hats are personal and hats are fun. I am looking forward to getting something from the new store.

Re: “Is 'Becky with the Good Hair' coming to Charleston Fashion Week?

Are there typos in this or am I having a stroke? "Solange Knowles, Beyonce's sister, went viral showing her beating Jay Z an elevator at NYCs Standard Hotel. According to tabloids, like Hollywood Life, Solange was pissed at Jay Z for his 'too close for comfort' friendship with Beyonces husband."

Re: “Is 'Becky with the Good Hair' coming to Charleston Fashion Week?

Basic. Who really cares? Now if the Queen Bey and Jay Z would come, we would be all amped up. I mean good hair and ho-hum off the rack department store clothing can only take you so far. That's my fashion review for the day. Here's my Fashion Tip: Shop at Billy Reid or IBU not Macys and Nordstrom's. Support smaller shops and skip the basic.

What an interesting story - so glad to hear good news about companies which have had success that long. Let's hear more of that!

Re: “Have you visited King Street's new Uncle Kyle's Sweater Emporium yet?

Weird. How are there multiple identical sweaters in the store if they're vintage/unique? Looks like reproductions/fake vintage to me. JS.

Re: “Meet some of the makers at this Saturday's Buy Local Block Party

The $10 is a fundraiser for a non profit group - something Connelly completely forgot to mention-oops. They should've mentioned this and told y'all a little bit about this fantastic group, whose own Jamee Haley won the 2016 South Carolina Ambassador for Economic Development. This group is really trying to do something for our small business owners. Instead of lamenting the loss of all our small Mom and Pop businesses we should all be turning out in droves for this event. Do your Holiday shopping early, get it done this weekend. Also of utmost importance to me....will The Cake Farmer be there? Just look at that cake.... a work of art and those pies.....

Re: “Meet some of the makers at this Saturday's Buy Local Block Party

If you want us to buy local why charge us to get in this event. I could spend that $ on a local vendor at the event.

Re: “Nadeau Charleston celebrates one year on Johnnie Dodds next week

"Furniture with a soul"? Where's it made? Is it made here in the USA or is it perhaps made overseas by cheap child labor and people who work for indentured servant wages?

Re: “Nadeau Charleston celebrates one year on Johnnie Dodds next week

So the Nadeau that clung on for a number of years in West Ashley was a figment of my over-active imagination?

Scott and Graham are voting on four gun safety measures next week. Calls are needed. I'm not sure how I feel about bidding for legislation.

Re: “Weekend Roundup: A Time for Reflection

Reflect on this: a bunch of people are dead because of unlimited access to unlimited firepower. Stop wallowing in memorial events for people you didn't know, and send Mark Sanford, Lindsey Graham, and Tim Scott whatever amount of money they require to stand up to the NRA.
