As I commented on the original column last week, " I always felt it an interesting piece of arrogance that CP staff felt they had the right to name a neighborhood."
So I guess, technically, they've changed course asking their readers to name it, although CP is still pulling the strings.
Just a few mistakes, but very nice job. Thank you
The 19th Amendment was passed by Republicans. Fortunately, women have the right to vote thanks to the Republican Party - the true political party of Civil Rights. Now give up your 2nd amendment right (because cops will protect you even though we hate cops and black lives matter targets them), your right to free speech (political correctness), your right to assembly (unless it is a black race riot), your right to privacy (NSA), and your sovereignty as a nation (open borders and multiculturalism). Women love their double standards. They want equality unless it comes to aborting a baby (the man gets no say) or unless it comes to divorce (courts are bias towards women) or dishing out alimony payments or child support payments (why don't men get custody when they make a good case to be guardian). Women want equality unless it means the Democrat party importing hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees who culturally marry underage girls, stone women for adultery, treat women like property, make them wear black sheets, throw acid in women's faces, worship a fake prophet who married a 6 year old girl according to their religion, all evidenced by dozens of mass rapes in Europe by Syrian refugees and hundreds of news reports ignored by the corporate conglomerate bias news media in USA. Worldwide the majority of abortions are performed on unborn girls. Yay feminism!
Well this sucks. Sounds like they'll be trying to move the strip clubs, prostitutes, drug dealers and pimps out of the area. This is evil white gentrification! I say we import some of those bus loads of illegal aliens that Obama strategically buses around to districts to artificially build a Democrat majority (the new gerrymander). Or we can bring in some Syrian refugees to rape women, throw rocks at gays, and then invite their 12 year old Muslim brides over later since marrying little underage girls is widespread and common in this beautiful diverse Islamic culture (I'm like soooo tolerant and diverse and stuff *smug smug*) when we aren't mutilating women's genitals as is custom in Muslim culture and accepted by smug, tolerant liberal democrats because we at least pretend to care about women even though Democrats opposed the 19th amendment and tried to prevent women from having the right to vote to begin with (darn those Republicans!).
The Westside continues past King st to I-26. Also continues past Hagood to the Ashley River. Please- a little more research before posting.
You have mistakenly lumped in the French quarter with Ansonborough. But overall, a brief and fun overview
Charleston likes to spend millions of dollars debating bridges and roads instead of actually building them. See 526. I vote no to all this. I've rode a bike across the West Ashley bridge as it is. It's manageable. My commute to work is tolerable. I didn't choose to live too far out in the boonies. And unless Councilman Rodney Williams is physically disabled, he should actually take his @$$ to the council meetings and be there physically. The rest of us don't get to phone into our jobs. Show up! I know Barack Hussein Obama gets to phone into his job from the 9th hole at the golf course at Martha Vineyards while people are drowning in Louisiana or getting their heads cut off by ISIS thugs he and Hillary armed, but Charlestonians expect more from our politicians.
If you don't want gender to be a consideration in the application process, nor race, then stop asking for such information. The government tries to collect this information to use against us. Opt out. It's collected by race hustlers like Barack Obama. Gender isn't a choice. Nor is your race. 99.9% of people are born either male or female and their reproductive organ is the indication. Only mentally ill liberals believe that your gender is an emotional choice. The reality is that it is determined by your anatomy. Very, very few people are born with both organs or with hormone imbalances so severe that they are not clearly one nor the other. It seems that the Democrats are the ones who do not believe in science and reality.
Thanks for letting people know, Kinsey. Many people were able to watch online.
She gave us all so much and had so much more to share. Very sad but very grateful that I came to know her voice.
Yes, the pumpkin patch will remain open in October as normal.
Will the pumpkin patch and festival still be on?
Love this article! I've been going to Cedar Creek some this summer, and I'm hoping to return, soon. It's a purifying experience for me!
WOO HOO!!! SC claims 1.1% of the fastest growing businesses in the US... no wait.... SC is 2% of the states..... nevermind
"NoMo no more"?
NoMo never was except in the City Paper. I always felt it an interesting piece of arrogance that CP staff felt they had the right to name a neighborhood.
My suggestion would be Hipsterhaven
Would that there were more articles like this one! Reading about the past leads to an understanding of who and what we are today --and why we are the way we are-- and it follows that we learn more about what we could be in the future. In short, reading history makes us better people and better citizens.
I always thought as Upper Morrison, or Cool Blow. Guess UPMO be out!
Instead of Upper Edge, I just like North Edge. A lot easier and rolls off the tongue. The Drum is also way better than NoMo. I wish as a city we steered away from recycled terminology that's slightly adapted to fit us: "Silicon Harbor", "NoMo"... it's a poor attempt and completely unoriginal. Let it die here and now.
Others to throw on the pile:
- Union Village - plays on the North/South and the decidedly different vibe up there as opposed to historical Charleston (more tech, culinary influence of North and West Coast, architecture, and commerce). Also, this area is a lot more of a melting pot between races, cultures, and especially ages in comparison to King St Corridor and south.
- Bridgeport - It's just by the Ravenel, the Naval port is part of this area (not as inspired but no one can argue with the applicable nature of the name)
Millions of dollars for a "temporary bike lane" !
Build a new bridge without obstructing traffic flow and connect bike lanes form South Windermere and Highway 61.
"It’s on a state road in the city and would be paid for with money from the county’s half-cent sales tax."
NO I-526, a NO vote on the sales tas referendum, NO bike lane
