Re: “Charleston County Council will consider resolution opposing assault weapons

I think we need to point out the supporters of this nonsense, name by name and make sure we draw attention to them at every opportunity. Every time they do something, be sure to refer to them has "GUN BAN SUPPORTER".This is political arrogance and we need to vote these people out as soon as possible.

Re: “Charleston can't handle an influx of new residents

Sonia Faye says "Transplants change the character of the places they migrate too and turn them into the same cesspools that they escaped from in the first place. You come here for low taxes. Infrastructure increases taxes. Which do you want? Low taxes or infrastructure? Can't have it both ways."

This transplant didn't come here for low taxes - I came from Massachusetts - NOT a cesspool BTW - to escape winter snow and cold - period. I'd be happy to pay more in taxes to make infrastructure improvements and while I'm at it I'll throw in some extra for better schools.

Re: “What to do when there are no more treatment options left

What seems like a million years ago, I taught you a childbirth education class in your home...you were pregnant with your beautiful Maybelle. I have followed your story through The City Paper. Continued prayers for healing, peace and comfort...and a wonderful summer. <3

Re: “Charleston County Council will consider resolution opposing assault weapons

It would help if some of you actually read the article before posting stupid comments. They aren't banning anything, simply asking the state to consider it. NiteGoat, don't know what Constitution you're thinking about but the one I consult pretty regularly guarantees "the right of the people...to petition the Government for a redress of grievances". Nowhere does it say local government is not "the people". I can assure you I am greatly agggrieved by people walking around in public, including bars where they might be expected to drink alcohol, with any kind of weapon they want any time and appreciate my elected representative petitioning the state government on my behalf.

Re: “The Agenda: Larger ships in Charleston Harbor; Police looking for potential rally instigator

No counseling needed for Prong, because he's right. Also Imma roll on Ignatz. Ignatz threw the brick, everybody knows that. Even when you O-bey the police many times bad things happen to young brown & black men all over the USA every single day. "They" are not all the same. "They" are angry and rightfully so. "They" do not all throw bricks just as not all police are bullies & bigots. Until Black Lives Matter as much as White Lives, "they" gonna keep on going. Let's be really honest, all lives should matter equally - but in reality they just don't right now. I hope this changes in my lifetime.

You ever read much about the colonial revolution against Great Britain?

Re: “Charleston can't handle an influx of new residents

check the local highways. at times of the day the traffic is >20-30% container trucks. SC's plan? dredge the rivers so larger ships can load an unload. All while they enjoy the nation's lowest gas prices. it's not LACK of focus, it's no focus whatsoever. And as long as the Beach Company has a stranglehold on local development that's not going to change either.

Re: “Charleston can't handle an influx of new residents

Influx of new residence? Heck, Mayor Woolsey and his Town of James Island can't even come close to dealing with its obligations to its existing residence. Meanwhile he isn't he violating the promise he used to get elected by raising taxes. Why is lying to get elected not an ethics violation? Any fool can stay within budget if they can raise revenue by fiat. But while Woolsey is an economics professor, he doesn't seem to have a clue regarding the cost benefits of municiple services. That's if you could even call the Town a municipality. Essentially it is an oligarchy, run by upper class bureauracratic elitest that is not going bankrupt anytime soon. Except perhaps morally. Clearly its residents deserve better. That might happen if the Town would merge with the City of Charleston. But don't hold your breath on that one. It just makes too much sense.

Re: “Charleston County Council will consider resolution opposing assault weapons

What a bunch of idiots, vying for the microphone to make themselves popular. Well, dumb asses, if you pass anything close to attempting to ban any "weapons with detachable clips" you'll all be looking for another job next election. That would definitely rank in the "death by stupidity" category.
Maybe we need some cleansing in the County Government, anyway.

Re: “The Agenda: Larger ships in Charleston Harbor; Police looking for potential rally instigator

The BLM protesters appear to be just any of many groups who do not obey police commands, take matters outside of their permitted actions, and then have someone throw a brick at the cops. Well, you stupid bastards, Charleston is not like Baltimore. Any more of this and you'll see the City Jail fill up quickly with your worthless asses, and your cases won't be heard until the next day. And anyone with a grain of intelligence (I doubt that exists) from the BLM (otherwise known as a Bowel Movement) would give up the guy who threw the brick if you ever want another permit to show your "cause" in Charleston. By the way, have you heard anything from that dumb "elder" from NAN on TV ? They said they wanted to "distance" themselves, but you don't hear anything on local news to prove it. They are all the same.

Re: “Giant oak falls inside College of Charleston Cistern Yard

Can't really blame the tree for wanting to get away from the whining snowflake generation in college now. This was once a place of critical thinking and challenging your opinions and ideas. Sadly, it's now a place of safe spaces and trigger warnings so these little kiddos don't get their feelings hurt or learn to think for themselves.

Re: “Charleston County Council will consider resolution opposing assault weapons

Have any of these gun-grabbers ever seen the way a shotgun maims the target? Imagine that for a minute...imagine how much worse the carnage would have been at the Pulse nightclub and how much more those poor people would have suffered. No amount of "control" will ever stop an evil, determined heart.

Let's ban "sports cars" while we're at it and arbitrarily define them as the ability to produce more than 200BHP and 15db of sound from the exhaust. I'm sure they kill lots of people each year.

i wish, the first extrapolated principle of any new technology is first and foremost WAR. What do you think all of that consciousness research is these corporate entities do?

They develop the hell out of everything for war first, and then when its been used in every way possible to kill people it is released to the public as some kind of consumer good like "the internet". Or that aspartame rat poison in your diet coke

It is the same with FACEBOOK. First and foremost it is intelligence gathering for secret transnational entities called weapons dealers.
