If someone in the Boy Scouts is gay, they are evidently a party to illicit underage sexual activity and possible a sex offender. Or are gays exempt from such laws?

I don't think you know what you're talking about. First of all, most people do not know who that star is anyway so that was not very effective to name drop a name that doesn’t mean anything to anyone. Also, the tax incentives cannot be used for individual use. No cast or crew member can use it for their personal shopping. It is a corporate tax incentive that is used to make purchases for the production. So the set buyers, props buyers, costume buyers, production office, etc. can make large purchases to local retail and will have the incentive to continue shopping and thus supporting the local retail in a very large way (they just happen to not have to pay sales taxes). This would not have a negative effect at all to the local companies (that tax money would go to the government anyway). Instead, it is only helping those local retail companies by having increased sales, on a very large scale. And like the person who commented about how Boeing helps our local economy, there is a trickle-down effect and the film incentive bill will only help, not hurt, you and me.

I have missed something. How is a remark about someone eating fried chicken racist? Fried Chicken is as Southern as apple pie. Did Sergio imply Tiger was a Southerner? Well that would be a real put down as in the media's favorite comment when things are falling apart, "Going South." Someone needs to put an end to such arrant regionalism.

As a native Kansas Citian, I'm rather perturbed by this publication touting Texas above all. Any of the "major" BBQ joints (Gates, Arthur Bryant's, Oklahoma Joe's, Rosedale) never sauce their brisket, or ribs, or anything else before it hits your plate. Lots of places here follow the same method with their ribs and pulled pork, sauce is on the table. It's ignorant to generalize so much.

I noticed you did not mention the offsetting fact (particularly in the case of Boeing) that the 6,000 people employed because of those business incentives are paying taxes to the state on their income, paying property taxes to counties when they purchase a home or automobile, and paying sales taxes to the state and municipalities when they purchase groceries and durable goods.
The 6,000 newly employed workers at Boeing are also creating jobs (and more taxpayers) in the other businesses they frequent. The 6,000 workers at Boeing need dry cleaners, house painters, landscapers, Chinese take out, pizza deliveries, furniture, school supplies, day care, insurance, oil changes, new clothes, haircuts, movie tickets, fresh produce, seafood, recreational vehicles, pest control, vodka, beer, and a thousand other things that increase the economic impact of their being here, and being gainfully employed. Adding new jobs and taxpayers ultimately has a snowball effect on the economy as a whole - just ask the people living in the oil patch of North Dakota.
You socialist types are typically economic myopes. You see only the "cost to the state" side of the equation while never perceiving the larger economic picture, wherein the state recovers those initial incentives many times over, and for decades to come. Perhaps you are unable to grasp the concept that "a rising tide lifts all boats".
What a strange dichotomy you progressives champion - on the one hand, you think government should be involved in almost every aspect of our lives, whether it be healthcare, the environment, our diet or our faith, the government has a central role, but when it comes to spurring private economic development, well, it's just an outrage that the government would use taxpayer money to do something which ultimately benefits all taxpayers.
I doesn't matter how many times the invisible hand smacks you upside the head - you simply will not ever understand basic economic principles.

Your right... he's only won 4 starts in 2013 alone, what a has been!! (<--I wanted to state for the record that this is sarcasm because I suspect you sometimes miss the obvious). Quick question: how many other multiple event winners are there on tour in 2013?
My real question is how can I get in on this bet of winning (at least) one more major because it's not really a matter of if, but when?

Please don’t count us in on that claim! "Trying to appeal to the youth" is often an excuse for bad standards and poor materials, and often plain lack of materials (e.g., "loft-style" ceilings usually means exposed ducts - hideous - but see the developers don't have to pay for covering them - some "feature"!). Why don't these developers try to raise standards instead of catering to undeveloped, unrefined teenage tastes?
And Golden Ratio (nice tag) - if you want more sustainable buildings, then more glass-and-steel "modern" buildings are the very last thing you ought to be promoting in this sub-tropical climate; look around - the traditionally-built buildings last the longest. We don't need greenhouses here; the glass-and-steel buildings need constant, year-round air-conditioning and are uninhabitable when the electricity goes out. To get an idea of what we mean, check out the new CofC Science Building on the corner of Calhoun and Coming - a South-facing glass box. Go inside. Try to make yourself comfortable.

Let's talk about the real bummer here: you know Sergio's got himself some killer, personal chef that can no doubt whip up some smack-your-momma-good, fried chicken. And yet, for a variety of valid philosophical and cultural reasons, Tiger's gotta tell him to go fly a kite.
I'm not saying that Tiger probably enjoys fried chicken; I'm saying EVERYONE enjoys a good fried chicken. And he's gotta turn it down.

Good food is whatever you like. The constant lists and award cycles from every source imaginable are going to kill a lot of worthy restaurants and replace them with PR machines. Now, regarding the sauce comment, a quick look at Franklin BBQ's website shows that they are bottling and selling their sauce in 150+ TX grocery stores. I don't really care and I have absolutely nothing against them, but it shows a pretty clear appreciation of sauce to put your name on it and sell it. It also points out the hypocrisy in TX Monthly's litany of hubris.

@Driftaway: I'm sometimes amazed at the awe in which folks like this hold homosexuals, as if they're all X-men with mind control powers, hell-bent on "converting" people. I suppose it really boils down to them having to really consider what they really believe, and finding it easier to call all gays satanic rather than question anything they are pretty sure they read in the Bible.

So, if I go to one of the breweries around here, I can buy a few pints? Are the limited as to how much they can charge? I heard they have to be competitive with neighboring bars and restaurants. Well, the price of a pint of small craft breweries varies about $3.00/pint depending on whether or not you are downtown Chas., on King St, or in N. Chas on Dorchester Rd. where a local brewery is located. Vast differences in prices.
