Circular is second only to the Unitarian Church!
As first time visitors to South Carolina, we had experience with fresh water fishing, but none with inshore fishing, so we were looking forward to our charter with Captain Jamie. Unfortunately, our excitement was short lived. Our “lovely” afternoon started with Captain Jamie being 15 minutes late to meet us at the dock, and digressed from there. He spent the majority of our 4 hour tour making and receiving personal phone calls, he was surly, and short tempered, and he had the audacity to yell, yes literally yell, at us when he thought we were scaring his fish away. He equated our photo taking to Japanese tourists, which as tourists from out of state, it seemed only natural for us to take pictures of what we were seeing and doing. To make matters worse, he got our boat anchor hooked to another 2 boats, and as he tried to speed off to get our anchor unhooked, he nearly sunk the other 2 boats; and gosh, those other tourists and their guides looked mighty happy with Captain Jamie over that. The charter was awful, and when we finally got around to fishing and catching fish, no one wanted to participate after 3 hours of verbal abuse and disrespect. We were his customers and he treated us terribly. Captain Jamie not only lacks ‘Southern Charm,’ but basic respect, and he should stick to fishing my himself in tournaments where he doesn’t have to inflict his poor behavior on tourists who are willing to pay for a happy experience on the South Carolina coast.
Basil? Best Asian Fusion instead of the more deserving Zen in West Ashley is a surprise win to anyone who eats at both restaurants regularly. I've had experiences at Basil that left me wondering why they have such a following other than their downtown location. Despite two hiccups their first year, the experience and consistency at Zen has me driving further when I'm craving those Asian flavors. I must however credit Basil for being a prime player of the redevelopment of Upper King St. into Charleston's hot locals-oriented foodie district.
Looking for the best place to buy yoga products such as pants, yoga mats, bags, and more? I would definitely recommend checking out Kulae (http://www.kulae.com). High-quality products, great prices, and great service!
It's best only if you consider the food and were born deaf. I won't set foot in the place again because I value my hearing over great enchiladas. Any restaurant where it is difficult to hear your wait person who is literally screaming at you is just a "tad" too loud. Call me old- fashioned, but dining at 100 decibels isn't "fine" in any sense of the word. If you must, go at a time when you can insist on sitting outside. I guarantee you traffic on Coleman Blvd will be much quieter than the noise inside.
Juggalos are a violent gang full of pedophiles and violent ex-convicts. Don't believe me? google it for yourself
I have been watching the show on Bravo and it absolutely looks like a place where I want to spend the rest of my life there.
I don't know much about cab companies. I don't travel very often so I have no need for them. I will be in trouble when I finally have to travel to a big city and find a cab to get around. My inexperience won't help me at all.
The Tramps want T-Rav.
Well that is just crappy. I usually go to the one on Dorchester at Leeds, I will have to ask the next time I go in.
East Bay Deli Owner,
Just like last year and this year, I will bring this up every year you win Best Deli unless you enact rightful, just change.
I guarantee that.
One would think so.
It's definitely greedy and selfish. I know for a FACT that it happens. The owner/manager responsible for doing it is named Dan. I'm not going to provide his last name.
If anyone doubts me, ask one of the workers at the register the next time you're there if they receive the gratuities from the "Tip" line on electronic payments or not. You will see that I'm not telling a lie.
Isn't that illegal?
Charleston City Paper Readers,
Something has been brought to my attention: East Bay Deli employees have informed my best friend that the manager of the restaurant pockets the gratuities from all credit card and debit card transactions; so, be aware that this selfishness diverts all your well-meaning electronic tips from the rightful hands of the servers and staff directly into the accounts of management.
In my opinion, this greedy practice must come to an end.
And don't forget about Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week. It's that largest sailing regatta of it's kind in the Western Hemisphere, right here in Chucktown April 10-14. Anyone can attend the post-race parties at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina at Patriot's Point. www.charlestonraceweek.com
A lot of what we read in these pages is repetitive: conservatives suck!, minorities are mistreated!, The South is evil!, DIE GLENN MCCONNELL! all day, every day.
This is something really, really different. Thanks for the effort and the article. I may or may not want to party with these guys, but I am glad they are doing it.
Are they still available for parties??
*Not a troll......Just bored
I'm sure it didn't make the record because Elise is not near the talent Darius is, and the song was probably weak. You're article is not fair to Mr. Rucker, and I'm sure the only reason he did it in the first place was to be a nice guy, and this is what you serve up. Get some class City Paper. + She's no hometown girl! Yank
That may be one hell of a long sentence, but it's hardly inaccurate.
Nice touch with the cookie baking comment, though. Crawl out from under your rock much?
