I like to give credit where credit is due. The 37 bottle chandelier in Palmetto Brewing was a collaboration with Eric Doran (http://www.frederickdoran.com/). Hope this is the first of many projects we get to work on together.

I have not followed the career of Bjork, but I just watched the movie Dancer in the Dark, and I have to say her performance knocked me into next week. It was to me the best performance by an actor I have ever seen. She should receive every award know to man. I will never forget that film or her; it was absolutely haunting.
I was really excited by the name "This Frontier Needs Heroes" until I read their genre description.
You did that for me. I just booked a plane ticket from San Diego to St.Petersburg. This Album has perplexed me. I'm coming for more answers to what is going on with my soul. I'm digging deeper everyday. I just need to now let the hubby know that I have gone CrAzY………..lol.. I think he will understand after seeing me hide in a cacoon. I now looking to emerge so I can fly!! Since the style parody is not a direct lift, but more an homage, the fact that Weird Al embraced the style at all is impressive. The Rugburns were not upset with Weird Al when he did Albuquerque, and that song is pretty much only influenced by "Dick's Automotive."
They don't get paid when someone covers their song live; they get paid via parody or direct cover. Calling the homage method a scam to get all song royalties is ridiculous. What's ridiculous is how much the record companies take out of the album/song profits. What you get left out of it makes that "royalty check" look like peasantry money.
Here's the truth: Their style got a huge promotional lift on Mandatory Fun, and thus, their band gained more exposure in general. I think they're just upset because they're not seeing immediate gratification. Since bands get pretty much no money from their record deals, some petty cash from royalties isn't really going to make much difference, and isn't really a much of a sign of appreciation; the song itself (Lame Claim To Fame) is supposed to be that.
EDIT: Now that I've worked all that out, I have to wonder if this is just some record company PR complaining through the band about how their not seeing a check from the song.
Well, they've been doing it for about 200 years, so I figure they should probably be good at it.
At the end of the day this really is a damn tight band....if you've ever seen them play live you will know what I'm talking about.....
I always felt that the Black Crowes had a tremendous amount of potential that they didn't QUITE fulfill.
"Shake Your Money Maker" backs this assertion up; that was early in their career, and gave us glimpses of where they could have taken their unique brand of Southern Rock.
I don't know; they kind of got caught up in the Hollywood scene (Kate Hudson, etc.), and maybe (more) drugs would've been a better path toward genuine musical focus and development. I think this is especially true for them.
They had the raw skills and talent to go a long way toward becoming a seminal group.
Really bummed the CRB was cancelled, I hope he plays a smaller venue down here, or just pops in somewhere.

Saw these guys when they opened for Crowfield at the old Village Tavern a couple of years ago. That was the only time I've ever bought a band's cd the first time I heard them and I still play it frequently. This is a band that truly deserves recognition.
I have downloaded two of his songs and they are great !
