Re: “We are the Super Fans

This article is hilarious because it inadvertently exposes EXACTLY what is wrong with the "Charleston Music Scene": Popularity should not be a driving force for creativity.

Re: “We are the Super Fans

Don't argue with someone born in the 90's who paid $5 to get into house shows in the 70's.

Re: “We are the Super Fans

Dj..
Just put on the shows you want too and be damned what the music scene is.
It makes no difference what the majority of people want to hear. If your waiting for them you will be waiting forever. You can have the music you want with out any support. Just do it.
"If you want punk to get bigger, which I obviously do, then you have to have a bigger music scene in general."
Sorry that logic is gonna get you no where.

We didn't get the likes of The Circle Jerks,The Dead Kennedys,Christ on a Crutch
RKL, GG Allin, Mykel Board or some others, i'm sure my memory fails me , back in the day, cause there was ever a vibrant scene to rail against. We could care less we just wanted to hear what we liked.

"Any mention of big local music support should probably include WYLA FM 87.5, which plays almost entirely local music 24/7."

Who the fuck is voting this comment down?

Re: “We are the Super Fans

Wow, an article about music in Charleston and not a single mention of the best venue in the Southeast, The Charleston Pour House? I don't think I've seen any one of these folks there except for Hunter when she was performing

No mention of the jam scene where we are being represented nationwide by Dangermuffin?

Quite an endorsement, Ima. I had no idea you were such a BNL fan.

Re: “In the Jukebox: The Mason Dixon Band

Also, great lead guitar riff by JR McLeod on the sample track "Do You Wanna" - hard to believe there is no mention of him in the review - obviously the author did not do any homework at all or failed to even listen to the CD.

Re: “Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard stormed off stage last night at Volvo Car Stadium

I was there, it was a great show, his voice was fine! There were some tech issues, it had rained and stormed, which delayed the show and everything was wet. When in Charleston in summer, wear a tank top or wifebeater - if you have on sleeves then you deserve to be hot! Also they make those sports towels that you wet and put around your neck to keep you cool...and I noticed a gigantic fan that was onstage but was not 'on' I didn't appreciate the temper-tantrum but I still loved the show

Too bad more people do not eventually realize it is too hot for them in Charleston then leave and never return here again...

Re: “Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard stormed off stage last night at Volvo Car Stadium

I was at the concert last night and was very disappointed. What did they for an hour? Also the sound was horrible. You could barely hear him singing because the music especially the keyboards was so loud and distorted.
