Not to spring a spoiler on anyone, but halfway through the movie there's an intermission where Anna Kendrick performs a ten-minute solo softcore scene.
Prong - his work is actually in a quite a few published works, available in national bookstores on online journals. His bio has some of that info, but you can check
* Illuminations, from the CofC english department
* Home Is Where: An Anthology of African American Poetry from the Carolinas
* My South: A People, A Place, A World of Its Own
* Charleston Salt and Iron
* Charleston Currents (online)
* PBS Newshour
All of those poems are self-published on a blog. None of them were submitted for publication at an editor's discretion.
Thanks for the link, though. I look forward to perusing them at some point.
I just found the show on "on demand". I was born in N. Charleston at the old naval station. Grew up w/ Charleston being "home base". Dad was Army. Love the show but think Catherine is bi polar. These people have to much time on their hands. Money can't buy happiness but at least you're comfortably miserable.
Where can one find Mr. Amaker's published work (in journals or online journals)?
I'm very curious to read it, as he seems an extremely engaging fellow.
It will be an interesting season to say the least. Relationships change and who will still be on the show. I hope Southern Charm gets back to its roots, not just another reality show. I was watching because of location, style, food,and character of the people.
Why should public safety depend on how well someone raises their dog?
There are irresponsible owners of poodles, beagles, greyhounds and I could name 300 dog breeds that will not lead to severely maimed or dead neighbors, pets and children. It shouldn't be a death sentence for any of us to depend on all pit owners to raise their pit right. That's impossible. I don't care what a dog will do in the absence of a trigger. I care what a dog will do when people are imperfect as they always are. If you think it's how they are raised, then they should be banned.
Pit-bull type dogs are responsible for 95% of severe attacks on people, pets and livestock.
Calling this book non fiction is a joke. I've read the book, and it's nothing more than a propaganda fluff piece that completely ignores the carnage caused by pit bulls on a daily basis.
...just found out about this column from reading comments on Vulture about the RHONY show... apparently all posters were out of their ADD meds, because as soon as SC was mentioned in an aside, the thread was overtaken by excited SC fans, one of them a big fan of yours. This show kills and I'm a southerner myself, grew up in Savannah, GA, which has its own insular population of old-money, well-connected bluebloods. These people are raised to know which family names are connected with real fortunes, a world where children have stocks and trusts set aside for them at birth. So if someone who lives like Whitney says so-and-so "has money," you can bet they do.
There are no bad dogs just bad dog owners. Take any animal human or otherwise mistreat it, show it no love , beat it, force it to fight, encourage its aggression and its going to be mean and lash out at any perceived threat.
We should be able to euthanize abusers of any sort.
Please keep doing this! Priceless! Do you have a blog?
(nothing there contradicts my point)
Don't judge on recent past experience. These individuals are highly qualified library leaders. There are more commonalities among library users across the country than there are differences and learning the differences is important for success. Today's public libraries are all about literacy - basic, early childhood, digital, cultural, information, STEAM, workforce for ALL! Something needed throughout Charleston County! Something the County Council needs to earn and support! The community certainly supported it when we voted to tax ourselves to the tune of $108M to improve, upgrade and expand library facilities to deliver the 21st century services needed to be successful in our chaotic, changing local environment. We deserve a leader who can build a team and bring the staff along to achieve this. Charleston County deserves no less than any other community in SC or the U. S.
Remember kids, no one can run your local public library system like a professional from out of state.
Please, recap the reunions!
Please, I beg of you... never stop writing these.
Well done. Good to get confirmation that they did actually say/do what we thought but couldn't believe,
