Re: “So I’m Marrying a Reenactor

I would just like to know where I CAN meet a man who's into this sort of thing - especially the Civil War and WWII. I live in Mississippi by the way. Also, are there any websites for single reenactors???

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

More lies and more op-ed propaganda. Bottom line Veronica BROWN belongs with her father, sister, grandparents and cousins in Oklahoma. If the Capobiancos had one whit of compassion they would long since Voluntarily given custody back to the biological family. Adoption is for children without a family. Stop child trafficking now!

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

People need to read and research the truth before telling lies about Veronica's real father. Read all the lies and half truths that are put out there by the biological mother and the adoptive parents. They knew from the beginning that this little girl should have not been sold to them.

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

I would say that these crazy people have recieved their 15 minutes of fame. Now, can we all agree that they just go away and buy a new baby? Man, if GOD wanted them to have a child, he would of allowed them to produce one. He did not, so maybe that is a sign they should not have children??????

This couple is sick sick sick. I am disgusted that they are keeping the ball rolling on this. The proof is in the pudding. This couple is trying to use the media to their advantage, and it seems to be working, but if people would actually look into this cae on their own, they would find a lot of lies and deceit by the mother and this gross couple.

IF, this little girl is somehow given to these crazy people, she will grow to hate and resent them because of this and in the end, leave them, mark my words!

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

Dusten Brown is HER FATHER. Period. These people are crazy and are NOT her parents. I don't care what some government court says. That is where she should be, with her biological family that loves her. Shame on them for being so selfish.

Go ahead, get her back and see how much she resents you people when she finds out you took her from her daddy that wanted her.

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

..Veronica Does NOT need saving. To the C's You are making this about YOU now, and it is NOT about you!! Veronica is happy and healthy and well taken care of. If you cared so much for her you would recognize that she doesn't even remember you! She WILL resent you! Plus it would be nice if facts were laid out on the line about how info was falsified to even begin the adoption! The C's are not fit to be parents, when they can't care less about what will happen to this child if taking from her blood family and daddy Dusten that love her very much and it shows she loves them to. There's a reason why you can't have kids, because you are not fit to raise one. This man was cheated out of his daughters life for the first part of her life because of some ungrateful woman who was spiteful. Baby Veronica should have never been put up for adoption in the first place.
Immoral and unethical. The CN gave custody to grandparents. This guy is a HERO!! The only criminals are the birth mother and adoptive parents who committed fraud. Money is evil to the Root when you give your child up for money. Adoption is for children who need a family not for children who already having a family that loves them and want them!!! The media has been so one sided in the coverage. They just keep making these people in SC look like the victim because they invested so much time and money into this kid and now they stand to lose "everything". There are lots of children out there needing a home. Go buy one of them that don't have any family!! I live here in SC a few miles from these so called people how could they how on earth could they be so mean they do not want Veronica's voice heard. SC has made a mess of everything! I'm ashamed to be from this place. These people are so wrong in what they have done to this child. Support for Dusten & Veronica! Support for her grandparents, aunts uncles and especially her big sister!! Arrest the birthmom and adoptive parents for going over the legal Oklahoma limit on contributions to a birthmother! Its a $500 max without court approval and they paid $10K plus expenses! Stop the baby buying/selling! Support fathers rights, veterans rights, children's rights and Native American Laws! The purpose of adoption is for children without homes, to find one. Its purpose is NOT for homes without children, to find one, that is just the added benefit. Tears streaming down cheeks. She does not need to be saved from the Brown's!!

These adoptive parents sicken me! claiming they love her but only want this child back for their own personal problems, this child doesn't remember them! She's been with her real dad! Who she will remember! This child will feel betrayed by not only her birth mom but now also by her adoptive demons

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

Melanie and Matt Capobianco you should leave this baby with her Natural Father. She belongs with him. I am sorry that you have chosen to go on a media campaign about Veronica, but she is not yours, never was Legally yours and she is not a thing to be in court like a stolen car. You are really showing just how much you Don't care about this baby. You are just showing how a white couple saved this Native American child from her people. Leave her alone and go adopt a white baby.

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

His ex-fiancé gave their child up for adoption without his knowledge or consent!
***
Patently false. On Jan 6th, 2010 "a process server presented Father with legal papers entitled "Acceptance of Service and Answer of Defendant," which stated he was not contesting the adoption of Baby Girl and that he waived the thirty day waiting period and notice of the hearing."
http://www.judicial.state.sc.us/opinions/H…

Dusten signed that form. Note, his actual "consent" for the adoption was not necc. under SC law since he had provided no support to either the birth mother nor the child, Veronica. "Looking to South Carolina law, Father's consent to the adoption would not be required because he neither lived with Mother for a continuous period of six months before birth, nor contributed to her pregnancy-related expenses."

That's how the "war veteran" treats his child?

He gained custody of Veronica 19 months ago and now South Carolina has stripped him of his rights to her!
***
Actually, the US Supreme Court did. It told the SC Supreme Court that they were incorrect in allowing Dusten Brown to use a law giving Indian parents rights that others do not called the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).

THEY CANT SHUT US ALL UP!!! THEY MAY HAVE PUT A GAG ORDER ON DUSTEN SO THEIR ACTIVITIES AGAINST HIM CAN TRY TO REMAIN HIDDEN BUT ITS TO DARN LATE. THE DISGUSTING TRUTH IS OUT THERE.
***
Your paranoia is evident. You posted here did you not? As for the gag order which encompasses both the Browns as well as the Capobiancos, Family Court enacts gags on all proceedings relating to children. I'm sure you knew that.

pass on this story and let people know the corruption involved and laws broken in order to steal his child..
***
Again, allegations yet no prosecutor nor judge from OK courts to SC courts to the US Supreme Court has ever agreed with these (always) vague allegations. Kudos for persistence though.

again.... while hes away on a month long training mission with the National Guard they plan on taking her ...again....
***
The adoption is finalized. She is legally the Capobianco's daughter. Naturally, at some point they will transfer her physical custody as well. I don't know when that will occur but there is a thing such as Emergency Leave. Just sayin'...

their plan is to give her cookies and place her in front of a TV while she crying and grieving for her DADDY.MOMMY.SISSY KELSY.GRandpa & Grandma.
***
Oh really? Your hyperbole aside, that is NOT the transition plan. Interested readers can view it here and judge for themselves...

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

Incidentally, the adoption WAS finalized this week after all the appeals. Biodad appealed again to the Supreme Court of the US for a stay of the adoption, but on Friday August 2, SCOTUS denied his stay 7-2. The adoption is final.

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

June 25, 2013 SCOTUS ruling: "the South Carolina Supreme Court held that certain provisions of the federal Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978 required her to be taken, at the age of 27 months, from the only parents she had ever known and handed over to her biological father, who had attempted to relinquish his parental rights and who had no prior contact with the child. " SCOTUS reversed this decision. Please think about it. An unwed biological father doesn't want to take responsibility for his child. The child's biological mother can't care for her on her own, so she lovingly finds an adoptive home for the child. Do we really want birth fathers to be able to change their minds whenever they want, and come in and take that child? If this were not an Indian child, the SC Supreme Court never would have erred. If you're NOT an Indian child, you're protected from being taken from your loving adoptive parents - but if you're an Indian child, you don't have the same rights. In my book, all children should be given the same rights. At this point, if you see the pictures of Brown and his daughter, they look really happy together, and I'm sure they are. However, you have to remember that he was a deadbeat - for four months. Some people will tell you he looked long and hard for his child during those four months - but court records show that he didn't. Bottom line - how long do you think a biological parent should have to step up? And where should their kids be in the meantime?

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

There is too much room for coercion, fraud, and unethical practices in an adoption system based on the economic principles of supply & demand. Look at countries such as Australia...they completely removed the money and marketing in adoption and restored the rights of all adoptees to their birth certificates and identities. Adoptees are not commodities or perpetual children, but adoption law treats them as exactly that. www.PeachNeitherHereNorThere.blogspot.com

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

Brown has been fighting for his daughter since she was a tiny baby. If the prospective adoptive parents had honored that fact and refused to draw this out in court (the adoption was never finalized because he began contesting the proposed adoption as soon as he knew about it), Veronica would not have been "stripped" from them at 2 years old. She would have been living with her father since infanthood, like any other child. This couple has drawn this battle out for no good reason. He is her father. Her human rights should have been upheld when she was a baby and his rights as her father were trampled on by a long drawn-out court battle for stranger adoption, when it was unnecessary. She is a commodity in an adoption industry that is less than ethical. Veronica's father refused to let the transition happen under a media circus planned by the couple...that is the reason he made the transition quickly when the courts finally ruled on his and Veronica's behalf. It seems as if the adoption industry and this couple are trying to prove that it is safe to purchase a baby by adoption, even when the practices are less than ethical. Veronica is paying an even higher price than what was paid for her. I pray her human rights are upheld to stay with her family.

Re: “Broken Home: The Save Veronica story

Also I would like to add, if no one else has said this already and I've not the stomach to read all these ignorant comments to find out:

The Capobiancos CAUSED Veronica's initial trauma. They knew very well that her father is registered tribal Cherokee. V's mother knew this too. She put down her child's ethnicity as Latino (which she is in part) and did not mention V's Cherokee ancestry. Which, by the way, Cherokee membership IS determined by ancestry, NOT by blood quantum. And I notice very few of you knew that or cared to find out.

THEN, since Dusten Brown objected to losing his rights immediately after signing the paper (the lawyer presenting it to him told him what it was after he had signed it, not before), and retained a lawyer before leaving for Iraq, it was KNOWN to the Capobiancos that he did not want to completely lose his daughter. Be realistic here: he was going to Iraq, and could hardly raise her there. He had thought his ex would keep her and take care of her. That's not an unreasonable assumption.

But as they KNEW Veronica is Cherokee, KNEW her dad wanted to retain rights to her (if not custody), and they kept her ANYWAY and dragged things through the court system, they ENSURED that she would be traumatized by her removal from them later. They could have averted all that by making custody arrangements with Brown's side of the family, the exact same way he would have had to make arrangements with his family had he had Veronica all along and then been deployed to Iraq. Just exactly like single Army soldier parents do every day.

Wah wah wah, Dusten Brown's so mean. No one criticizing him, with the exception of the Capobiancos and their lawyer, bothered looking into the details of this case and exactly what went down and why. The bottom line is the Capobiancos paid good money for their baby product and they will get no refund; damned if they're going to be out both several thousand dollars AND a kid.

Brown was taking no money from the Capobiancos and as V's mother relinquished her parental rights, he probably was getting no child support from her either. He took on time and effort and personal expense in getting Veronica back (and that's not including what he had to pay a lawyer). It's not like he was getting any sort of profit from this. But he also didn't pay several thousand dollars to make a baby in the first place, so he still had less to lose from getting his daughter back.

And it isn't any of you's place to tell the Cherokee Nation how to count someone as Cherokee. And it's no skin off your noses if they care enough about their own children to want to keep them in the tribe. That puts them way ahead of us white people who, the first time we think someone's not perfect enough to be a parent, we encourage them to give their child away to total strangers. We disrespect our own children in buying and selling and trading them, then we presume to judge Native Americans. Give me a break. Get your own house in order before you tell someone else what to believe. Do you know where all your kids and nieces and nephews and grandkids are? Did they all stay in your family? If not, did you make any effort to *keep* them in your family? Doubt it. You will have to answer to them someday, if they haven't been brainwashed enough by the adoption industry and its sycophants to be grateful you abandoned them.
