Re: “West Ashley bike lane narrowly survives City Council vote

Unfortunately, in this case, I believe that somebody will die. That bridge isn't very safe in morning rush-hour traffic in a car, much less a bike.

Re: “West Ashley bike lane narrowly survives City Council vote

They didn't due a study on the traffic onto the Connector during this trial period. It was backed up all the way to Harbor View Rd every weekday, because drivers on Folly Road avoided the traffic going towards the Ashley Bridge. There are 300 new apartments right where they want to make it one lane. REALLY?

Re: “Charleston can't handle an influx of new residents

LOL assigning party politics to our local government.

In the lowcountry there are developers, and everyone else--and our local governing bodies are inundated with developers that care not for anyone else's opinion.

Re: “Thank you for my beautiful life

Your beautiful daughter was in some dance classes with my girl. I remember briefly meeting you and, I must say, you had the most fantastic bumper stickers that absolutely cracked me up and made me thankful for kickass feminists. Your bond with your little girl was so touching to witness and your words have me thunderstruck today. I don't claim to know you other than in passing, but I wish you a most peaceful journey in the coming weeks. And know that even in a brief encounter of meeting you and reading your story here, you've changed my life for the better.

Re: “New York Times' recent story "36 Hours In Charleston" was largely written in 2013

Susan, why " or maybe a story on how the president is enabling the violence against cops in our country"? A literate person not here specifically to push a political agenda would know why not - food writers write about food

Re: “Cool off with beer news Revelry and Holy City, plus Ghost Monkey and Two Blokes openings

While you were working on the recipe, brewing, marketing, and canning of the beer, you should have made time to come up with a plan for compensating the culture you're using to market your beer.

There's still time. Let us know if/when you get the horse in front of the cart on this one.

Re: “What to do when there are no more treatment options left

Alison, Thanks for your brave writing during this horrible time in your life. When my mom was at your stage, I wish I had videoed every conversation so I can see her and hear her voice again. I wish I had her thoughts and statements kooky from the cancer preserved, because some of the misstatements were damn funny. You are a smart, thoughtful person, and we are honored to have experienced your thoughts.

Re: “Charleston County Council will consider resolution opposing assault weapons

I love how you did your usual bullshit where you put everyone that you disagree with into a convenient classification which you define (in this case under the classy term "2A dickheads") and then complained when the exact same thing was done to you. Nice! It's not easy to get that all done so succinctly.

So, search my history then and find where I've advocated modification or abolition of any civil rights.

I am not, however, going to search your history. I recognize that people have different opinions and can't be put into neat boxes to make my internet debating career easier.

If you have always advocated for the repeal of the 2nd Amendment then I commend you, you are ahead of the leftist curve. You will, eventually, be on here advocating for the severe restriction or repeal of other civil liberties, I predict.

Re: “This is Charleston's opportunity to lead by example — once again

I am not offended, that's for weaklings.

I am just pointing out that outlandish opinions tied to a question will result in that question not being taken seriously.

Example:

"With multitudes of extremely dangerous animals like raccoons, snakes and alligators all around us - how can we best coexist with wildlife in the Lowcountry?"

To seriously answer the question at the end of that sentence at least implies that I accept the ridiculous statement in the first half.

I hope this helps you pose questions in the future.

Re: “Thank you for my beautiful life

Oh, Alison. I don't believe we have ever met, but I know of you in this awesome small town we both call home- we have friends in common, and because of that- and because of these beautiful words you have written over the years- I feel I know you. I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face. I am sad and yet my heart tells me energy is never created or destroyed- so from the beyond- whatever that looks like on the other side- please keep sending us these beautiful messages about life. And what is important. And I am certain Maybelle will be embraced by this community as you are now... and that you will continue to influence her life too. You have an amazing gift in your ability to describe the life experience in words. You have changed my day and my perspective. I was dreading something similar to a princess party- that I am now going to celebrate and cherish every moment of. I wish you peace friend... breath deep and know you are loved.

Re: “West Ashley bike lane narrowly survives City Council vote

Yes, Waring said, if I recall correctly, "Sometimes bikers just have to die." It was stated after he discussed car accidents happening before necessary measures being taken to address dangerous roads/intersections. I think he was saying it may take a terrible bike tragedy to get the community to fully support a bike lane. That said, we had already discussed the death of the doctor who was killed while trying to cross the Ashley on the James Island connector, so his point made no sense.

It was a ridiculous argument he was making while trying to rationalize his vote against the bike lane.

Re: “Charleston County Council will consider resolution opposing assault weapons

Browse my history and tell me where I've ever said I support the second amendment.

(hint: I didn't)

Do I think guns should be entirely outlawed? Not necessarily. Single and double shot long guns are probably fine for sportsmen. But preserving unlimited, unregulated private gun ownership? Public. Safety. Nuisance.

What kills me about you 2A dickheads is that you constantly harp on the sanctity of the Bill of Rights while simultaneously supporting the modification or abolition of other amendments (namely 1, 4, 6, 8, 15, 16) that do not protect your little toys.

Amendments are malleable and should be repealed and adjusted to suit modern times. You will not lead a successful insurrection with your arms in the 21st century. Period. Give it up.

I do support stringent regulation of high capacity weapons, high rate-of-fire weapons, and highly concealable weapons. Namely anything semiautomatic, and all handguns.

Will this end gun violence completely? No. But it can mitigate the damage done in the blink of an eye.

In the meantime, I just hope that you defy statistics and avoid killing yourself or your family members with your home defense weapons.

Can anyone confirm or give context for this alleged Keith Waring quote: "Sometimes bikers have to die"?

Re: “This is Charleston's opportunity to lead by example — once again

" A few institutions with deep historical ties to the white supremacy (Coastal Community Foundation, Boeing, MUSC)..."

This is the sort of nonsense that makes further statements from you ineligible for serious consideration.

Rest & be with your family and friends these last days. We shall celebrate you now and later! xoxo
