Re: “Lobster Roll Call: The best decapod deals in town

I am on my way to Red's with a Mt. P buddy for a bucket of brews and a 10 buck lobster roll. If you don't hear from us.....send help or call EMS. If Red's is no good then we are heading over to MuddinMtP's house as that is the P-town version of lobster roll (and the best).

Re: “Lobster Roll Call: The best decapod deals in town

So based on my Restaurant Impossible/Bar Rescue experience of selling items at 3x cost, the Lobster roll is super good deal, actually, even at the Ordinary, which is my vote of least reasonable restaurant outside of the Market.

And $9.95 for a Red's Lobster Roll? That sounds scary and cheap!

Re: “Lobster Roll Call: The best decapod deals in town

What sucks is that all of these Lobster Rolls are the cold lobster salad type (dab of mayo, maybe some celery). No one down here does a Hot Connecticut/Rhode Island Style Lobster Roll - toasted split top bun, hot lobster meat, side of melted butter. Now THAT's truly a decadent, awesome treat. (So I just make them at home)

Re: “Jerusalem Mart & Deli brings the flavors of Palestine to North Charleston

Every restaurant review should contain germane references to political strife and/or historic turmoil.

Example: "While the crust at Monza is cooked to a crisp perfection, I couldn't help but feel the weight of mid-century Italian fascism and present-day soccer hooligan racism come crushing down on my shoulders. Great restaurant."

Re: “Jerusalem Mart & Deli brings the flavors of Palestine to North Charleston

Make sure you don't shop at this Palestinian's store... he sympathizes with Palestinians! He's sad that a family member was murdered... what an outrage.

Seriously, Lynnar: thank you for unshrouding this injustice. A Palestinian that sees things through a Palestinian lens; what will they think of next? Your local, Jewish friends and associates will appreciate you blowing the lid off of this one.

On a more serious note: are you actually upset that the City Paper ran this? Or would you prefer to have inadvertently handed over even a single penny to this man that sympathizes with Palestinians? Now you know... now everyone can know. If it was an injustice to anyone, it seems that CCP has allowed Abukhdair to torpedo his own business because of his personal views.

Sweeny's on Johns Island has a great New England Lobster Roll on their menu for $19. I believe they also get their split top rolls shipped from up north as well. Makes this New Yorker happy.

Re: “Lobster Roll Call: The best decapod deals in town

Your math makes my head hurt. If you need 1/3rd lb of meat and a 2lb lobsta yields 1/2 lb, why crack another?

Also a 2lb lobster yields 8 oz of meat, not 32.

2 lobsters would have enough meat for 3 rolls.

30 bucks for 2 lobsters/ 3= 10$ meat per delicious roll

Re: “Jerusalem Mart & Deli brings the flavors of Palestine to North Charleston

Lynnar,

Let me ask you this: Should this man not grieve because a relative was burned alive? Is that what you are suggesting? The owner or Jerusalem Mart does not speak for all Palestinians and he certainly doesn't speak for those who committed any of the crimes and atrocities you mention or refer to. He's a fellow American who believes that the two sides can find peace if they only look "in our hearts." What is so objectionable about that?

This is a complicated situation with horrible acts committed by both sides, and I say that as someone who condemns the United State's own policy of drone strikes and general warmongering.

I have personally visited Jerusalem Mart and found one of the co-owners to be a kind and generous man, and I will gladly go again. America is, or at least it should be, a place were we can put our differences aside, a place where people of differing cultures and races can come together and live as one free people.

Re: “Jerusalem Mart & Deli brings the flavors of Palestine to North Charleston

I totally agree with lynnar's post. This was a food article and you brought in politics without doing your fact finding job as a reporter. You should know better, but it's freedom of the press. Media bias is what this is and you fed into it. How truly pathetic. I too will tell all my friends and contacts to NOT patronize this man's store/restaurant.

Re: “Jerusalem Mart & Deli brings the flavors of Palestine to North Charleston

You hv a huge Jewish population here in Charleston. Granted you have freedom of the press. But to write making Israel the villians and terrorists by burning that Palestinian teenager is outrageous!!!! How dare you write such a slanted point of view in a food article!!!!! You had no place in putting this man 's point of view of the Israeli/ Palestinian conflict that is going on! And you not putting in that what started the whole thing was three innocent Israeli ( one American)!were kidnapped and torchured and killed! I hv a friend who lives in Tel Aviv and those boys were shot in the head 10 times! And the owner omits that His people rejoiced in the streets when they found the dead boys. Had no desire to find who killed them. But of course we know. Did the Israeli's rejoice when they found the Palestinian teenager? No! And the Arabs that live in Israel, have the right to vote. They live prosperous lives. This man is lying thru his teeth. He is lucky they live in Israel. The Palestinians voted in Hamas as soon as Israel left Gaza. I resent that you included this mans point of view. There is no way I would step foot in this mans store and I will post on FB and tell the Jewish community not to give this man business. There are also many, many non Jews who are huge supporters of Israel, and I am sure they will not step foot in this mans shop. You did a huge injustice by writing this kind of article.
