No surprise here on Graham and his "warming" to a tyrant, who is becoming more of a "sheep in wolf's clothing" second-by-second. You know the mantra....support the GOP candidate "tooth and nail" even though he is really standing for the LACK of freedoms, not unlike TSARs of bygone eras.
The GOP states they support freedoms, but their definition doesn't include freedoms for everyone, but only freedoms that support control over certain people's lives:
"Freedom FROM women's rights", "Freedom FROM immigrants", "Freedom FROM the LGBT community", "Freedom FROM pluralism" (reason USA was founded in the first place), "Freedom FROM the poor and needy" and finally, "Freedom FOR personal and corporate greed". The GOP embraces the straight, rich, caucasian (Hello out there...the GOP is using minorities along with poor and less informed supporters to collect their bounty), christian male that helps to feather their political and financial nests.
Opposite of the spectrum is the "Love thy neighbor" (Jesus' words, not mine) type of freedom supporter.
"Freedom FOR women's rights", "Freedom FOR immigrants", "Freedom FOR the LGBT community", "Freedom FOR pluralism" (reason USA was founded in the first place), "Freedom FOR the poor and needy" and finally, "Freedom FROM personal and corporate greed".
It would be such a shame if corruption and scandal is uncovered at MUSC. It's such a great hospital and does so much that's good for so many! It would just be sad....
Its the neck, always has been, always will be, at least to us from here. Don't give a rats ass what y'all want to "rename" it, we are still calling it the neck. I think I'm going to start randomly renaming stuff for no good reason too. Starting with the Market Street Area. Instead of Little Italy like NYC, it will now be known as Little Buckeye or maybe Little Toledo, how about Little Cincinnati?
For past 12 years i have heard older black folks in my neighborhood (North Central/ Huger Street....represent!) refer to this area as the the Neck. where is Murrays Meats? used to be on Rutledge where Jamals is located, but now it is up on the Neck. sometimes they say up the Neck instead of up on the neck, but regardless it is already the neck part of the Peninsula. I, too, am tired of the inventa a culture mentality pushing ut towards NoMo which is so 1980,s lamo, ya know. just my .02.
I have to agree with Ima, I never heard anyone outside of the city paper call it anything but "the neck".
Fixed, thanks. Good to hear from you again today, Ima!
"Journo Ron Aiken has stayed on reported of impropriety inside Richland County government since leaving the SC Policy Council's The Nerve and founding Quorum Columbia, uncovering new allegations that county recreation officials were selling moonshine and counterfeit electronics out of their government offices"
Perhaps, if the reporter doesn't understand sentence structure and grammar, we should hire an editor that does?
Doucheborough seems proper. :)
Keep it NOMO, or rename it Upchuck.
All of these suggestions are actually more contrived than the original premise. What about “Doucheborough”, or “ Northdouche”, or “Uppermorrisonashleycooperdouche”? You know, something more fitting for the consumerist, invent-a-culture aspect of the exercise?
What about NoRav? Dual purpose. North of the Ravanel and stating a fact we don't need anymore TRav news.
I guess the day sleeping ne'er do wells who petend to write for this blog couldn't be bothered to notice that this exact same article was posted on this exact same blog on February 2, 2012. It was stupid and arrogant then and it still is now.
You don't get to name NoMo. It already has a name that makes more sense, actually does roll of the tongue and came about organically. If George Costanza taught us nothing else he taught us that you can't pick your nick name.
I like Martha Lou's Neighborhood, got a homey and old school vibe feel to it. But otherwise than that, I'm down with any name given as long as it's one word.
What about The Ashley Cooper Corridor? (this area is where they are at their closest.)
Aside from in CP I don't recall hearing "NoMo" more than a couple of times. And as far as having a dog in the fight, you're tilting the table toward your own constituency, I'd say that carries some weight.
I want to change my vote from NoMo to Upper Edge
