Re: “The Agenda: Haley proposes gas tax bump, income tax cut, hosts Riley; N. Chs. weighs Stingrays' losses

I don't know all the details of this gas tax thing.

I do know our roads are notably worse than some other states. How does our fuel tax compare to other states?

Re: “Here’s a draft of CPD’s wearable video recorder policy

Huh? Why was my suggestion of the GoPro HD Helmet Hero model disregarded by the powers that be?? This absolutely ruins my pitch to Fox network for the GoPro PoPo Show....

Haley's gas tax plan should make all conservatives think twice about her views.

Obviously she is just another tax and spend politician despite her conservative rhetoric.

Re: “The Agenda: Haley proposes gas tax bump, income tax cut, hosts Riley; N. Chs. weighs Stingrays' losses

Yeah that's the progressive left for ya snarkie..unfortunately we have progressives that hide as conservatives too..ugh. Tax and spend and crony capitalism.

Taxpayers should NOT subsidize Intertech to support the team. As the most profitable privately owned business in SC, Intertech and the Zuckers should either support their own business ventures or sell it off.
As an employee of a company that Intertech once owned..who was laid off, I don't remember them being very forgiving of my job or wanting to support me.
Its a pure business decision. We should run our city like a business too and don't waste taxpayers money on corporate support.

If they are losing money, tough shit.

Re: “The Agenda: Summey upbeat in State of the City; SLED looking at DeWitt's arrest; Thurmond challenging Sanford?

Tupper, the good ole boy system is alive and well in the whole state, but the law is what it is, and Dewitt is making use of it. Perhaps, this will prompt the legislature to fix this law, but I doubt it. I am glad to see Thurmond thinking of running against Sanfraud. I may not have always agreed with his father's political positions, but he was an excellent example of constituent service, and may have instilled that concept in his son. It is a concept of which Sanfraud has no understanding.

No doubt Dewitt's ability to avoid the possible charges of speeding and eluding, failure to stop for a blue light, reckless driving and running stop signs proof that the Good 'Ole Boy system is alive and well In Hanahan.

Back on topic...

Uber is now using junk science to promote it's hourly wage.

Re: “The Agenda: Haley proposes gas tax bump, income tax cut, hosts Riley; N. Chs. weighs Stingrays' losses

I don't understand why tax payers of Charleston have to subsidize the rent of the North Charleston Coliseum. Shouldn't the ticket prices and merchandising be priced such that the business is profitable, and if it is not profitable, then it is a failed business?
So.. let me get this straight, the arena doesn't sell out because there's no interest in the product, and because there's no interest in the product, taxpayers are forced to subsidize the product??
I guess tea baggers and capitalists like minor league hockey, so Ayn Rand doesn't apply here.

Re: “Police stop Uber driver citing statewide ban

Cid - per the National Archive, Obama has issued fewer Executive orders per year than any President since Truman. And from an AP article dated Nov. 17, 2014: "Reagan enacted a sweeping overhaul that gave legal status to up to 3 million immigrants without authorization to be in the country, if they had come to the U.S. before 1982." and " Bush Sr. went big at the time. He protected about 40 percent of the unauthorized population." Hmmmm, looks like the same thing we have now. Or does Associated Press not count cause they're not Fox News?

"Why should the people of N Charleston help them out of their financial problems?"

Because that's how American capitalism works. Losses are socialized and profits are privatized.

Re: “Police stop Uber driver citing statewide ban

Ima your comment would make sense if I stated anything to do with the relative quantity of executive orders issued by Bush vs Obama. However, I did not.

My comment relates to the fact that the current President of the US issued an executive order negating enforcement of a valid federal law that ~5mil people are currently in violation of. Can you cite a similar executive order? Also, in case you weren't aware, we have had other presidents in US history besides Bush so feel free to review their executive orders also.

Re: “Here’s a draft of CPD’s wearable video recorder policy

I caught the tail end of a story on NPR tonight (yea, yea, bleeding heart GFY) about the first known case of a police officer killed in the line of duty wearing a body cam.

The local media sued to get the footage (of course), and the police chief was reticent about it.

Some police spokesperson told NPR something along the lines of, "even in all of our outlined contingencies, we never planned on what to do in this case."

Seriously?

And there's no finding the terms "death" or "killing" here, either.

What are the people who write these plans fucking paid for?

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: the number of horrid music acts (*) who were discovered as "buskers" makes it imperative we nip that nonsense in the bud.

(*) mostly looking at you, Violent Femmes.

Re: “The Agenda: Haley proposes gas tax bump, income tax cut, hosts Riley; N. Chs. weighs Stingrays' losses

It's hilarious how fervently workers in SC fight against those that want to make their jobs better.

Labor conditions in the best labor states in the US are shit compared to other developed nations.

To corporations, SC is a developing nation with wages to match--all without having open a new plant in South America. Progress!

Re: “Police stop Uber driver citing statewide ban

Between the pedicab drivers pointing out historic points of interest (yep, thats a no-no per Joe), the idiot bike corrals that I still have not used, musicians who can not strum a tune without a license - straight to jail Jimi Hendrix, little 12 year old kids trying to earn a dollar or 2 by selling them illegal palmetto roses and now Uber drivers, the Popo do not have time to be bothered with murders, robbery and theiving douchebags. Bidnezz as usual in the Chuck.

Re: “The Agenda: "Closing fund" grows under Haley; Myrtle Beach's tea party; State of the Union is tonight

My point is that the government as a whole has been a wasteful windmill of pet projects and war-profiteering as long as we can remember. Yet, the only spending Republicans seem to give a shit about slashing is spending that benefits poor people.

Perhaps we should cut some of these tax breaks for multinational, multibillion dollar conglomerates so we can feed some starving children or actually support a healthcare system that works.

Western Europe figured it out many years ago, why the fuck can't we?

Re: “The Agenda: Haley proposes gas tax bump, income tax cut, hosts Riley; N. Chs. weighs Stingrays' losses

DEAR EVERYONE IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA,
THINK ABOUT THIS CLEARLY - In her State of the State address last night, Gov. Nikki Haley touched on subjects from labor, to education, to gas and income taxes. OK LET'S DO A GO OVER ON THIS. LABOR - Unions are not being allowed to work for workers to earn more money to end semi-poverty in the State, I guess everyone in the State is satisfied with earning $8.00 an hour for an at Least $15.00 and hours in any other State, SHAME ON YOU PEOPLE ! Then Education, New Adopted Idea in Education have not been listened to nor has the Absent Board of Education cared more then having more Pizza at Meetings ( Still nothing happens even after the Meetings) Then Gas Taxes - Finally we get a break from the rising prices and our Governor now says Times up !!! Time to Screw you some more and the Governor and Politicians want a raise so now we'll have to spend an extra $2.00 everytime you fill up, using math i get 530,000 cars getting gas times $2.00 is $1,060,000.00 or an extra $12,720,000.00 per year that came from your pocket when you thought you were getting back on your feet. I'm origionally from the North where when this happens we do not vote anyone back to get away with hurting people we vote for anyone that will honestly help "we the People" instead of politicians that say "we the Me" I'm going to Hawaii for a Vacation. Think about this and say "I'm not going to take this anymore!"
