Re: “International African-American Museum to go before architectural review board next week

I'm not a fan of the design at all. This place deserves something grander than a warehouse on stilts. Charleston is overflowing with beautiful buildings, can we not have the same for this soon to be world class museum?

Re: “Former SCGOP head accused of threatening his wife

This is the most wonderful thing i have ever experienced. I visited a forum here on the internet on the 17 APRIL 2016, and i saw a marvelous testimony of Tracie Aldana from United States on the forum about the good works DR OSEMU. I never believed it, because have never heard anything about such miracle before. No body would have been able to convince me about it not until DR OSEMU did a marvelous work for me that restored my marriage of 4 years by getting back my divorced wife just as i read on the internet. Am Brooklyn Gray from USA. I was truly shocked when my wife knelt down pleading for forgiveness to accept her back. I am really short of words to use to show my appreciation to DR OSEMU. For his a God sent to me and my entire family for divine restoration of marriage. Obama Slams Trump’s Comments On Race: Even 8-Year-Olds Know Slavery Wasn’t Good For Black People - https://youtu.be/d61nRy1h930
September 23, 2016 2016 Election, Politics, Racism

ABC News reports:

President Barack Obama said the nation’s police have “a really tough job” for which they should be honored and supported, but he said the perception of discrimination in the justice system should be “a source of concern for all Americans.”

Speaking in an exclusive interview with “GMA” co-anchor Robin Roberts at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture ahead of its opening this weekend, the president responded when asked about the recent unrest in cities across America following controversial police shootings.

Pointing to remarks Trump has recently made in which he has said African-Americans have never been worse off than they are today and that they should vote for him because they have nothing to lose, the president said: “You know, I think even most 8-year-olds’ll tell you that whole slavery thing wasn’t very good for black people. Jim Crow wasn’t very good for black people.”

He added that it was important that white Americans understand the legacy of “lawful segregation in this country just a decade ago,” adding: “It’s unrealistic to think that somehow that all just completely went away, because the Civil Rights Act was passed or because Oprah’s making a lot of money or because I was elected president. You know, that’s not how society works. And if you have hundreds of years of racial discrimination it’s likely that the vestiges of that discrimination linger on. And we should acknowledge that and own that.”

White Supremacist Richard Spencer Tells BBC: Donald Trump’s Arrow Is Pointing In Our Direction [VIDEO] https://youtu.be/1TIodunutPQ
September 22, 2016 2016 Election, Extremists, Racism

Mediaite reports:

In a BBC report that aired Thursday, a white nationalist leader named Richard Spencer explained that Donald Trump is following in the footsteps of what the white nationalist movement has been doing for years. “Donald Trump came along and I feel like my movement and ideology, we can be a kind of vanguard for a presidential candidate,” Spencer said. “His arrow is pointing in our direction.” Spencer is the president of the National Policy Institute, a white nationalist think tank founded in 2005 and based in Virginia, and “a radical white separatist whose goal is the establishment of a white ethno-state in North America,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. He resides in Whitefish, Montana, where the interview took place.

The reason there was no real bottleneck effect where the lane was removed is because actual drivers “appeared to be less aggressive when congestion occurred in the merge area” compared to their computer counterparts. So people were getting in the right lane way ahead of the lane removal and therefore sitting in a ridiculously long line to get to and across the bridge.

If you hate the gays, muslims, women, immigrants and the USA, VOTE TRUMP! Trumps patriotism extends only to his wallet and anyone who thinks trump is for them, is delusional. Trump is for trump and NO ONE else!

Re: “Charleston County Council calls for further study of West Ashley bike lane

Please explain how if there was no real bottleneck effect at the point of where the lane was removed how the traffic backups on Maybank and supposedly SamRitt can be blamed on lane closure?

Yes the study was flawed. The lane should have been opened for use not only to see how many users but also to see the effects of less cars.

As for the 3 to 5 minute claim could you please post link as to were that info can be found.

The real traffic delays during evac are on I-26 ( and every day for that matter ) not on the islands. Spend the money on fixing I-26.

Re: “Charleston County Council calls for further study of West Ashley bike lane

Because the 45 seconds was at the bridge, not beyond it. Even they admitted to the mistake of not analyzing the oncoming roads and traffic. The real number, if I recall, sits at 3-5 minutes if not more.

Plus, remember, the DOT can take back the lane at ANY time. Even before construction is finished, hence them trying to rush an analysis by the DOT now.

Also, when you live in an evac zone and complain about roads being built until after you get hit with a storm and can't get out, then you deserve to be washed away in the surge.

Re: “Charleston County Council calls for further study of West Ashley bike lane

Let's see if I have this straight - council not willing to spend $3 million on pedestrian lane that will only cost car drivers :45 seconds in commute time but are pushing for spending upwards of $700 million to extend I-526 that will only save drivers :90 seconds of commute time ( not to mention the $500,000 just to restart the process )

Re: “Charleston County Council calls for further study of West Ashley bike lane

Yeah because everyone loves to ride home in 90 degrees and pop up thunderstorms.

This should have been done years ago. Now with the growth already happening and planned, DOT would just re-claim the lane soon after.

Weed out the feel-gooders, the hippies, the people that won't ride because of distance to the bridge, and the people that won't ride 75% of the time and what are you left with ridership wise?

Re: “Charleston County Council calls for further study of West Ashley bike lane

Best way to alleviate traffic would be to offer alternate solutions. I.e put in a bike lane. It's the if you build it, they will come concept. The only real problem with that is how people of the greater Charleston area lack any foresight and do not seem to adapt to change very well.
