Update, went on a Tuesday night, moderate crowd. Sat at the bar.
Service: one bartender was decent, the other seemed like she would rather be somewhere else.
Beer: still a decent selection of beer, lots of wasted taps, but a few good ones to occupy a pint or two.
Food: sliding down the deep crevasse. I got BLT, did not realize that everything was singular. There were a few slicess of bacon so no off points there, but a single thin slice of tomato and a single wisp of lettuce. BLT's are usually piled high sandwiches, this one barely put space between the slices of bread. It was as if they don't care.
Save yourself and only order beer at this place!
same great King St. Grille menu - HOWEVER - worst service in mt. pleasant. Waitperson usually unavailable when restaurant not busy. Hostess acted annoyed when I requested service. Downscale 'decor', hard rock music. Do yourself a favor and go to the excellent Freshfields Village location instead.
be forwarned - asked to have the football game for the currently #1 ranked team in the country put on on one of the 14 screeens - was refused. this not a sports bar, just a local redneck hangout.

My boyfriend and I went to Kickin Chicken twice in the last month.
They were not very busy we did not see a hostess so we sat ourselves in a booth by the bar. We sat for over 20 minutes and never received service. This happened on both of our visits..the second time we were there I stopped a waitress and asked her if we could get a menu..she stated that was not her section. We left and will never return.
You might want to go there for the beer, not the food. Soggy is a fitting description of the crab clusters. First thing to remember is they are already cooked when the joint gets them frozen. All you have to do is heat them up. But, in good old fashion southern style this place seems to have boiled the s--t out of the poor things. Same goes for the the fried shrimp. I'll describe them as mushy.
Now for the well chilled and tasty oysters on the half shell from Bulls Bay. Let's just say they were opened but not shucked. And, based on my experience, this goes for every oyster on the half shell serving reastaurant in Charleston. They all forget the final step in shucking, which is: Cut the oyster free from the shell. It is connected by a tough knob on the underside; slide your knife under and sever it.

"Irish pub & seafood restaurant". How about deciding on one theme and do it properly, please... you are NOTHING-- i repeat, nothing---like a real Irish pub. The food tastes like it's pre-packaged meals that have just been warmed up and slid over onto a plate. In years past, it was a fun place to go, now it's just gotten really sad.
this place is horrible... just horrible.
the staff is rude - strange & detached - kinda like robots. i know this place is out in the woods of 41 - but its a freak show in this place when it comes to staff...
the food is basically right out of the harris teeters frozen food section located next door - prices are high for what this place can offer. bug light bottle @ 3$.
i kinda got the idea its the only place to drink in this area and they have the locals trapped...
when you walk in this place -a big a$$ fake fireplace is staring right at you - it certainly sums this carnival side-show in the woods right up.....just freaky / fake/ and wierd.
I have eaten there 3x in the last 2 years, and each time my meal had something terribly wrong with it. The first time my ordered dinner was not available, (3 times after ordering...NOT kidding, and there excuse was that it was Sunday, and they were not usually open on Sunday), then it came back burnt, (mini Sliders I think...the bread was burnt, and the burger was wayyyyy overdon, but I am saving the worst part, and that was it had a hair in it. The second time, I am not kidding you, the cheese I ordered had mold on it. I KNOW: Why did I go back a second or even a third time?? The third time my meal came to ok, but it was NOT what I ordered, so I sent it back and 25 minutes later I got what I ordered but it was cooked so differently then I asked for it, and the waiter was really snobby and having a poor day.
I really want to like this place, and I have given it many chances. Additionally, it is crowded with people who are loud and obnoxious.
I am not old, nor a person who EVER sends food back. I LOVE food, I am a foodie, and love going out. But Social, for a local like myself who just wants to go out, have a great bite at a great value, be treated fairly, and not have to navigate a gross meat market where people cannot control themselves, Social is not it for me. Many of my locals friends agree. I think this place used to have a cool, chill crowd. It looks like they are making money, but it is not my kind of peoples. Or food. Or service. Decent wine list, though...
a nasty dump.... it really made me question whether or not the gas tanks were removed from that property!
For them to last another year would take a miracle. Looks like another place with ownership that has cash, but no experience. Less partaking of the cocktails by the staff MIGHT help to better their service, too.
I like the owner but the service is SOOOOOO SLOW!
I have to agree with what I've read, I hesitated to post due to hoping my experience was a mishap. First- the service was way too slow when there are not many people in the place. There was a hair in my very well done burger (asked for medium) which at least they took that off the price, I ended up being VERY sick just a couple hours later so will not be back until I start hearing consistent positives.
Just visited the new location in West Ashley and don't think we'll return until they get their stuff together. The place was not crowded and the server was pleasant, but it took over 45 minutes for the food to get to the table. The food was good, but the wait was ridiculous.
I live in summerville and have all my life, once upon a time after Mgwack was closed down and you guys opened it was great, great bands, good food, and the staff was awesome.... now you go in and it is a bunch of trouble makers and underage kids playing grown up. the cops are all over the place waiting for you to leave to give you a ticket. there is ALWAYS over drunk creepers to and when you complain nothing is done b/c the drunks are the regs and "friends" with the staff.. it has become a high school atmosphere (not like its not obvious from the post)lame!, if your in the cool club you get special treatment. I have witnessed many people get thrown out for pathetic reasoning.. wake up.. you suck now.. get it together.. and your staffs attitudes need adjusting.. no one asked you all to work at a bar but if you are going to make a career out of it act like you give a crap.. in this place the customer is def not right.. well unless the staff likes you... if your looking for a good place that has an actual history with Summerville check out the pub across the street.. that is a great place and they do not tolerate the drunkees.. or the underage drinkers..
just wanted to let you know that it is bullsh*t this show is 21+. i am 18 and i cant go to this show.....i love this band. screw the dive.
A recent visit to the Mall location was a disaster: except for the onion rings. I was quickly seated by a harried mgr. Very soon a young woman handed me a menu and took my drink order. The drink was in front of me in short order. Then the wait began. The young lady never stopped serving other tables, taking orders and working up a low grade sweat. She passed by my table SEVERAL times after I had put the menu down. After approx 15 minutes I spotted her behing the service station sorting flatware. I walked over and asked if I could possibly place an order. She advised she was not my waitperson and had told another young lady about me. She did however take my order for a med rare american cheeseburger with raw onion. The real disaster was the cheeseburger. Why the hell do they season the meat with coriander and some other spice that left a metallic taste in the mouth. After two bites I asked for the check, paid and left. Never to return.
I think I will be staying away from shows at the Farm for a while....the last 3 shows (within last 2 months) I have been to have been great artists, but the venue really put a damper on the show. These artists have sound crews that know what they are doing in regards to setting up a sound system, but yet, the accoustics are so bad at the Farm, the music completely drowns the singers out most of the show.... Also, I realize it IS summer in Charleston (read: hot and muggy), but how about installing some XL/industrial fans to help keep air circulating on the floor area or revamping/updating the AC system so everyone isnt standing in a puddle of their own sweat? It also seems like they push the maximum person capacity too...I could barely squeeze my way to the bathroom from the floor, and even back by the bar area was super tight to pass through...maybe we could take a page from the HOB design?
How this wins best of in Summerville with The Woodlands right down the street escapes me. Heck, Ill even take Moe's over Oscar's. Its mediocre food off a menu from 15 years ago. The staff is great, but it doesnt matter how friendly you are if you have no idea what a Steak Au Poivre is, dont put it on the menu. I actually laughed when it came out. It would have been better breaded and fried with the gravy they slather all over it.
The part that killed me is they charged you Fine dinning prices for fancy Huddle House food. Bad restaurant, bad food, bad prices, great staff. Luckily its in Summerville where the hicks dont know any better (my inlaws included)
Go here for the beers on tap, not the BBQ. It looks like a dive, and they sell dive-y food. Some times this is fine, but they charge standard BBQ prices, and serve you something that looks like they did anything but smoke it for a half day (maybe a little boiling, maybe a little gas grill). I don't know, it wasn't very BBQ to me. And worse, they didn't trim the gelatinous fat (and there was a lot of it) from their brisket before serving. The presentation was a sloppy looking pile of thinly sliced meat, 1/3 of it being fat, completely dripping in some sort of broth and it's own grease. It was wet and sloppy. I could have made the same dish with my crock pot. I wish this was an exaggeration.
