Re: “Juanita Greenberg's Nacho Royale

Juanita Greenbergs is a jewel on King St. Its got a sign out front that invites a dog friendly atmosphere. The staff enures that the restaurant is kept spotless and sanitary, and food is delivered promptly to your table in virtually no time. Its a place where you can let your kids run around out back and play hide and seek, while you enjoy your favorite margarita in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. The patio area smells of Carolina Jasmine, as it is growing on the walls around the outdoor seating. I would recommend that anyone and everyone come enjoy this place. Also every Wednesday night one of the best female vocalists in town performs free to anyone who will listen, So come out and see Jordan Igoe and Friends. It will change your life. If you dont like the atmosphere clearly stated on the chalkboard out front, then go to McDonald's...lookin at you, Beth.

Re: “Stono Breeze Waterfront Bar

Great place to enjoy a burger and a beer or mixed drink and watch the Stono River boat traffic. Good live music and nice cool breeze. Very friendly folks!

Re: “Juanita Greenberg's Nacho Royale

Juanita Greenberg's Nacho Royale was an experience I wish I had walked out on.
Our table at the King street location was not just dirty, it was filthy. There were at least 3 dogs in the restaurant. Children were running around and playing hid and seek with vacant tables. Obviously the children should be corrected by the parents, but the restaurant manager should be able to instruct its patrons to reign their children in.

Our server was negligent at best. Perhaps ADD? With the college crowd there, her thoughts were less on taking my order for my children and myself and more on adjusting her short shorts and posing for the frat boys. I think in the process she forgot to put our order in, b/c the food took a huge amount of time for a round of appetizers and a child's meal. We were seated outside and could smell garbage and urine smells. Why I sat through until the food came out, is obvious, I had a hungry family to feed and was not that familiar with the options in the immediate area. My daughter with leg braces can only walk so far at times. I am mad at my dumb luck for wandering into a dirty, dirty, restaurant that honestly didn't care if I was there or not.
Will NOT be back, will never suggest to anyone.. And it is firmly on my top 3 WORST in Charleston. Avoid.

Re: “Buffalo Wild Wings

The wings and boneless wings are really good. Go to the bar not the bar area, children running through the isles constantly with no parental control. Its more of a FAMILY RESTARAUNT then a so called sports bar. If want to hear children while your trying to watch your favorite team play then you might as well stay home.

Re: “Poe's Tavern

Too bad you can't put zero stars. I split a shrimp & chorizo quesadilla with a friend. We got a slimy grilled cheese sandwiched by cardboard-baked tortillas for $9. No shrimp & no chorizo. Since the waitress brought the paid check back in cash (bill was $26.84) and didn't bother to return our change (guess she really needed that 16 cents) she got to keep that change + 2 bucks for her tip. I get it now, you go there to see people and be seen. They only serve food so it will support their license to serve over-priced liquor. bleh

Re: “Midtown Bar & Grill

I've been to this place 3-4 times in the last year. The food is actually pretty decent, but the atmosphere and service not so much. We go in there for dinner during the week when it does not seem to be very busy. The acoustics are terrible and the food is always slow to come out. I would go there more often for the food, but I just get annoyed with the lack luster service and too laid back attitude from the staff.

Re: “Lucy's Grill

The best restaurant on Seabrook Island. Lucy's has great food, great bar and a great waitstaff. The only negative I'd have with the place is it tends to get loud when it's busy.

Re: “Stono Breeze Waterfront Bar

The Saturday afternoon Band ( 4 to 7) is very entertaining. The Crowd is energetic and engaging so it makes for a fun place to enjoy a few drinks!! Amanda and her crew provide good service in a very hectic environment. I highly recommend you give this place a try!!

Re: “Bucca's Bar & Grill

They have a new Chef and now that the Owner is down to one the food is AMAZING and the service is excellent. The new Chef mixes it up with new and creative dishes and appetizers, and the portions are huge! Highly recommend the bacon wrapped scallops, the southwestern eggrolls, and the GATOR bites. Their friend clams are the best I have had since eating them in Maine. Highly recommend this restaurant and its food!

Re: “Smokey's Place Sports Bar and Grill

Smokeys Place is one of the most friendly, laid back, come-as-you-are places in town. He has live music every weekend and the bands sound great due to a large stage and excellent acoustics. The food is fantastic. Just as the sign out front says...He has the "best dang burgers in town". The wings are awesome too.

Re: “Smoky Oak Taproom

Smokey Oak fills the late night parking lot. Smokey Oak is small with a patio when you love the outdoor heat & bugs. If you want great barbeque, drive out EARLY along Maybank all the way to JB's SmokeShack early Wed-Sat... late night HOME TEAM BBQ is GREAT IN WEST ASHLEY and on Sullivan's Island. I'm going back to Smokey Oak when we visit James Island friends. Beer snobs learn the difference between bock & tap

Re: “Smoky Oak Taproom

I used to live down the road from this place and was always a huge fan of their food. I will never go back after what happened the other day. While our waitress took forever we chalked it up to how busy it was since the Cajun Fest had just ended. But while looking around for our food (which took almost 40 minutes to get there) we noticed one of the employees go into the bathroom with a girl. In a bathroom with no stalls it was pretty obvious what he was going in there to do. After about 15 minutes he and the girl returned and he went back into the kitchen. I wrote a note on our receipt and told the waitress who tried to assure us he didn't work there. Yet he was wearing their uniform and alternated between the kitchen and behind the bar. After this experience I will not be back..

The owner gave me a political sermon (including his POV on immigration) within 5 minutes of sitting down for the first (and last time). No thanks.

Re: “Smokey's Place Sports Bar and Grill

These people have no idea what they're talking about! Smokey's is one of the best bars I've seen in town by far! Very nice, clean place, excellent food (highly exceed expectations of your typical bar menu), and outstanding service! The bartenders are not just hot, but they're super friendly and are always on top of things! This place is not what it used to be- major improvement! Live bands and the Blues Bash are rockin', great food, cold beer, good prices, friendly atmosphere, excellent service, and all around good times...... what more could you ask for?! This place definately deserves a second look.

Re: “Halls Chophouse

We were seated upstairs and the noise from below flooded the stairwell and echoed horribly. It was so loud we gave up trying to have a conversation. The food itself was okay, but it was overshadowed by the dry aged steak. It had a very pronounced funk that tasted like eating Parmesan cheese rind. I have had dry aged beef several times and a bit of this flavor is expected, but this was excessive. When our waiter finally showed up and we told him he said it would take 20 to 30 minutes to get another entree. My partner and I shared my meal instead.

With all that, the worst part was the host. He was a strawberry blonde man who obsessively smoothed his hair between interrupting people to welcome them to the restaurant. Based on other reviews I assume it was Billy. What he does is patently *NOT* warm and friendly. He is boisterous and overly familiar to the point of being creepy. I felt like I had walked into the house of a serial killer and he was trying to "act normal" so we wouldn't notice the bodies under the stairs. We timed our exit to when he was at the other end of the bar, hoping to avoid him. No such luck. He burst through the door just as it closed to accost us one more time. We fled into the night.

I won't be back. I fear for my soul and I value my taste buds.

Re: “Smoky Oak Taproom

Blackened doesn't nessisarily mean it's bbq. Dry chicken, burnt sausage, and tastless bbq no wonder they provide so many different sauces to drown the flavor into the food with. Top that off with a rude staff and you get a James Island local that'll be driving to Home Team for his BBQ fix.

Re: “Smoky Oak Taproom

I will never come back. Between the awful service and the blatant disrespect from management, Smoky Oak has lost a James Island local forever.
