Re: “Quyen

You are right, the service is a weakness of theirs, they don't know how to keep drinks refilled, how to clear a table as you eat and how to stop by the table and ask if everything is OK. The food is SO good, I'll still go there and probably learn to get my own drinks. Last time I was there I got my own menus. Customer service is something many restaurants never seem to get.

2 star service, 5 star food

Re: “Quyen

How I hate to be the one negative person, but will try to explain. I love Stephanie's recommendations and after lots of Twitter posts, we went tonight. It was a disaster. I can only guess that our experience was unusual. We had to ask for service several times since the waitress kept neglecting to come back (15 minutes or so to order in the first place). A couple near us was looking for their server at one point, after a while without, to explain they needed their check quickly to catch a movie.
The wait staff brought us AND the tables around us the incorrect orders - 5 times it happened while we were there.
The food was a very enjoyable experience and there were so many things we wanted to try, but after the mistakes and the non-attentiveness, I don't know if we have the energy!

Re: “Quyen

No need to go to any other Asian eatery in Charleston. They have a new dining room that is very nice. Best Wanton soup I ever had. Curry chicken was amazing.

Re: “Irvin-House Vineyards

A great outing with friends and visitors, fun, friendly visit. More than a little out of the way, but worth the trip.

Re: “Quyen

My family and i go and eat there about twice a month.
It is fabulous each time we go.

We were told that they are planning to do a sushi buffet during lunch hours- and to look for it within the next month or so.
Sushi buffet! SWEET!

Re: “Quyen

Let me tell you how much I love this place. The food is AMAZING and not expensive. Yeah the place is definitely for kids but every time that I have been there, even with parties going on, the staff has been nothing but attentive and polite. They definitely have a customer for life.

Re: “Quyen

After reading the paeans on this site and driving by the Party Kingdom on a daily basis, my wife and I FINALLY made it a point to go in and actually try it out.

Well, all I can say is that I heartily regret my delay and ignorance. Random, bizarre, unexpected, whatever you want to term the experience, the food here is a revelation, and rivals any Asian cuisine in Charleston (Basil, Red Orchid, etc.), doing so at a considerable discount. We split the appetizer sampler for two, which included "fresh" spring rolls, crispy fried spring rolls, coconut shrimp, seafood wontons, and beef kabobs. The spring rolls, both varieties, are as good as any I've ever had. The "fresh" were just so, with whole steamed shrimp visible under the soft wrapper. The crispy rolls were fried expertly, with no residual oil absorption and actually-discernible shrimp, crab, and chicken filling in lieu of the typical cabbage and little else variety. The coconut shrimp were obviously also freshly-prepared and very good. The beef kabobs were three folded sections of tasty and tender lemongrass beef separated by peppers...very, very good. Finally, the wontons were also delicious, featuring a golf ball-sized portion of shrimp and crab filling, and resting upon a wonderfully piquant, cool ginger sauce. Again, as good as any I've ever had.

This shared appetizer sampler was enough to fill up my temperate wife, but I pressed on in the name of gluttony masquerading as altruism. I have not had much experience with true Vietnamese cuisine, so I felt I had to try the pho. Craving a few more of those spring rolls, I chose the "Kingdom Trio", which featured a "small" bowl of chicken or beef pho along with one of each type of spring roll, all for a whopping $9. I chose the beef pho, which was freash, hot, and delectable. I will defer to others as how authentic it is (it seems to be), but I really enjoyed it, and I ended up taking half of the "small" portion home. I'm not sure I've encountered a better quality/value marriage in Charleston than this impressive trio.

Well, enough from me... Read the other comments, read Jeff and Stephanie's reviews, and then GO to this place. You won't regret it. I know we will be back.

Re: “Quyen

After reading the review in City paper, I decided to try the Vietnamese food at Party Kingdom.

My husband and i enjoyed the Pho, Pad Thai, and spring rolls while we drooled over the isles of candy and wall of Jelly Bellys.

It was an unusual dining game lights in the background and children redeeming their tickets for prizes, all the while we were enjoying our food.
However, the food was amazing....i have been craving it since we went.
It was reasonably priced and really really really good.

Everyone should go and try it!

Re: “Sewee Visitor Center

A quiet outing for the kids. Inside the facility is a small gift shop (mainly books) and a museum showcasing the habitats and animals in the Awendaw area. Stroll across the outside boardwalk to the wolf enclosure or the woodland loop trail. Be prepared to see wildlife along the way like turtles, lizards, birds, and the occasional snake. The wolf enclosure has a shaded viewing deck. On hot summer days, the wolves are ususally in the shade of their doghouses and the trees and harder to see. However, one of the older residents often comes up to the glass to view the visitors! Neat to see an endangered species up close and therefore worth the trip.

This will be a fantastic place to spend the 4th of July this year. The Coppertones know how to get people dancing.

Re: “Terrace Theatre

I love this theater! It often offers the unusual movies that most theaters don't offer. I saw "Smart People there and last Saturday I saw "Flawless"! Sometimes/most times the movies shown here don't have the special effects and that is what makes them SPECIAL! As much as I enjoy DVDs there is nothing like a good movie in a theater!!! I also enjoy the special price at the first showing and at the concession stand the best cookies! When I lived in the Newton area of Massachusetts there was a theater like this one there and I am happy to say I was hoping to find one like it in South Carolina and as I live in West Ashley area it isn't too far away!

Re: “James Island County Park

I live in Northern Virginia and they think that have great light shows here - No way - Nothing beats James Island's light show - We have been there about 4 times and will absolutely take it in when we go there for Christmas again. It's a tradition
