After quoting us almost $1000 in new duct work, we had a second opinion. Work was not needed and we canceled service. They agreed to refund the deposit. However, never did, refuse to take our calls. Horrible way to treat long term customers. Now that we have checked Better Business Bureau and County Court. We see a LONG line of complaints and small claims cases against Bob Whittemore and his company in the past few years. Stay away.
A bunch of friends and I ate there last night. It was a really bad dining experience. We entered at 845p. We left at 1215a. Dinner took 2:10 to come out. The waitress never once came over and asked us how we were doing, or offered us drinks. So overpriced. The bathrooms were filthy, ugh.
Same good 4 reviews everywhere. Sure. I understand that one can't make everybody happy but I couldn't understand why 1st Choice, which is now not even an option for me, didn't answer the 100 calls we had to make to even find out why they wouldn't show up for work. Finally, after 2 weeks after the service start date quoted on the invoice, some people just came and ripped off all ducts, piled them in the back yard and disappeared in an hour and a half with half of the money for a complete airduct replacement. After 3 days without a working AC and no update as to what in the world they had been doing, I finally get somebody on the phone who started talking about how we should all blame it on the weather. All I want at this point is my money back. An HVAC specialist has already been contacted. And yes, it's "an", not "another" HVAC specialist.

After reading the great reviews for Alluette's, we were looking forward to a wonderful meal when we stopped in for dinner on a Saturday afternoon. Only only one other table was occupied, but the service was slow. The food was was a disappointment --- small, uninspired servings at a fairly steep price. The items displayed in the glass-fronted refrigerator sure didn't look organic. We left hungry, and later we ended up at Bon Banh Mi, where we had a terrific sandwich.
I don't think we'll be back. I can't believe this is the place about which we heard such good things.
I had the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant, and I eat out quite a bit. I’ve lived in Charleston for almost 7 years and have gone to just about every restaurant in the city. We went to Alluette’s tonight with a Groupon that was expiring tomorrow, so we expected the place to be crowded, even though it was a Tuesday night. We had also read about the restaurant and knew the food was prepared from scratch, so we expected to wait for a bit. We were seated right away when we arrived. It took about 15 minutes for us to get our drinks and place our orders. We were ok with this, since the place was busy, and the owner/waitress was nice about it. Things proceed to go very much downhill from there. We both ordered entrees, and I ordered soup, since I was hungry and figured that would be served quickly. I was very wrong. After waiting about an hour and 45 minutes and seeing 4 other tables who arrived after us receive their salads, I finally got the salad that came with the meal, only because my husband mentioned it to the owner, who only made excuses for the bad service stating that they mostly took reservations on Mon, Tues, and Wed and had a lot of walk-ins tonight. At that point, we had had empty iced tea glasses for about 30 minutes, and it took another 15 minutes plus asking multiple times/people to get a refill. We also mentioned the service to our waitress who also had multiple excuses, and asked us if we had researched the place, stating that if we had, we would have known that everything was made fresh, which means it would not be served quickly. I actually had researched the place and expected the service to be slower, but not receiving a salad for one hour and 45 minutes and not receiving our entrees for 2 hours and 30 minutes still seemed excessive to me. When my husband asked the waitress if they had researched how Groupon works , in that most people use it at the last minute, she replied that that was “retarded,” since they gave six months to use the Groupon. It wasn’t until well after we expressed our dissatisfaction to both the owner and waitress and had our entrees that the waitress asked if we would like a piece of cake or a cookie on the house. We declined, and when we paid our bill, we were charged the full amount of our meal. We had hoped that they would do something to make up for our awful experience, but no luck there. While we were there for 2 hours and 45 minutes, we saw multiple groups leave before receiving their dinners, and we talked to multiple tables who were also having the same bad experience we were. I almost can forgive most of what happened, since they seemed to be short staffed and not prepared for having Groupon customers, but the way we were treated by the owner and waitress was not acceptable. We were only given a half-hearted apology after speaking with them multiple times, and nothing was done to make up for the wait and bad service. Not to mention the food was not very impressive. The fried chicken was good but nothing exceptional. The lima bean soup was probably the best thing we had. The fried shrimp had no flavor at all. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Charleston. Don’t waste your time here.
order your own AC unit heat pump type for around here with at least a 14.0 SEER rating from the Internet, many good deals and they will ship it free most of the time right to your door . Had it installed in one day with all the extra required outside Disconnects for safety codes. Been operating for a year now and is doing fine , and my Electric bills are less than last year. Find a good AC man that knows his business. Plenty of them around.Try Angies List.
This was the worst HVAC service I have ever recieved. I had an air conditioning unit installed by First Choice and it did not work for even 6 months before I started having issues with it. Now i have been waiting for 6 months to have my air conditioning unit fixed. It took them nearly 4 months before they attempted to fix it ( not only do i not have ac but i didnt have heat in the winter time) Finally it was deemed unfixable and needed to be replaced 2 months ago. I have since been waiting for a new unit and have received excuses after excuses as to why First Chioce could not get to me. Honestly if i could have given this company no stars I would have. It is a joke that they call themselves First Choice... try again... Last Choice.
Great time we had at social wednesday. Friendly hostess, accommodating wait staff, and great food & drinks!
We made a reservation for thanksgiving(party of 4). Wanted to seat us with two elderly people outside without heaters. When we asked for seating inside we got skipped by multiple parties of 2&4. No thought or flexibility. Then we get seated at two 4-tops crammed together with someone needing to sit on the crack. Overall food was what we expected, traditional holiday items were good. Oysters were old and dried out. Cheese and salad station was bargain average. Our waiter was attentive and did a good job. The hostess and her three minions gave us the eye the whole time. If we thought that we could have gone somewhere else to get turkey we would have.
I went to Social regularly when they opened a few years ago & always loved it...fast forward to my most recent visits, where the food was still very good but the service was so horrible that I will not be going back. The bartenders were all too involved with chatting each other up and doing shots behind the bar to take our order. When I inquired about different wines, the server attempted to upsell me to the most expensive glasses available. She did the same thing with the food, which was good, though scant, with respect to the prices. Too bad this has become yet another "see & be seen" bar, instead of the classy place it started out as.
I wanted to like this place, I really did, but I've been there three times now and have been unimpressed on each occasion. The happy hour food quality and prices are pretty good, as is the drink selection, but the service was terrible. And I'm not too picky in that department... On every occasion that I have been there, the waitress took an incredibly long time to take our orders, and then needed to be prompted several times to return with drinks, or to come back around. The third time I was there will definitely be my last. One friend received the wrong order and then was criticized by the waitress, another friend ordered drinks that never arrived, despite many polite inquiries. We left and they'll never be seeing our wallets again.
My husband and I enjoy Social for Happy Hour. It's not crowded then, service has always been great and the drinks and appetizers are really a good value. Also they had Pinot Noir from Oregon!
This place is awesome BUT the address is now 79 Spring St!
