I love Cory's Grilled Cheese! They have the best bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich in town. It's no contest.

I had the occasion to visit the area for the first time today. I asked around about a good place to eat lunch near the water and was told about Vickery's. But I'm sorry to say that I was not thrilled. First of all, the hostess never said a word when I walked in. She just gave me a weird look. I had to do the speaking. That should be a huge no-no. Part of her job should be greeting customers with a smile. She, honestly, was pretty unfriendly. I chose lemonade for a beverage and it was okay but tasted flat. The slaw I had was unedible. It was bitter and tasted terrible. I'm not sure if it was bad or not but I wasn't going to take a chance. I chose the fried shrimp and they were good but I was surprised at how tiny they were. The fries were lukewarm and wimpy. All in all, I spent $23 for a lunch that, in my opinion, was of far less quality than Red Lobster. I was pretty disappointed.
You must have went on a bad night. The service is normally great and the staff are very hospitable. They have awesome rock n roll bands during the week.

We got take-out from there last week. Food was very good, with generous portions, and the gentleman there (the owner?) couldn't have been nicer. We'll definitely go back!
I went a few times when they first opened. The service was terribly slow. The food was hit and miss.
As has been stated by others, these guys do not know how to make sushi rice, for some reason. It is wet and soggy. The flavor is not correct for sushi rice.
The last straw was when I went to get some takeout. I bought quite a bit because I like to snack on it all night. When I got home and took it out, the tuna had thick white stripes. This is not fat, it is connective tissue or gristle from a part of the steak that you should never use to make nigiri sushi with. I tried one piece, and had to spit it out. It was like eating a rubber band. I could not force myself to swallow it.
I drove straight back there, and told them I wanted my money back (which they did without argument). When I got back in the car to go home, I noticed it smelled like someone had farted in there. That's how bad the fish was.
I will never go back.
Not bad but nothing special. I remember once when they tried to charge me a dollar for a Styrofoam cup of water. Smoaky Oak on JI is better IMO.
This place is the jam. I can't say enough nice things about it. My husband and I go at least a couple times a month- their food is always delicious. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their dishes. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The happy hour specials are the bomb. I love The Granary! You will not be disappointed with this restaurant.

Jb's is really good, you just need to go before the buffet gets destroyed. Their meat is really smokey, i don't see how the last guy thought it wasn't unless his last name is Dukes
Really disappointing. The good reviews were the reason I decided to go there. I guess I should have known better as soon as I saw the buffet setup. There are about a thousand bottles of their sauce in there, so it seems like they are trying to sell sauce rather than good food.
I picked up a pound of Pulled Pork (I like BBQ sandwiches) and a large Mac and Cheese to bring home and share with my friends. The meat was sort of soggy, and had clearly been reheated. There was no flavor to it. There was no bark or crust. I could not detect any smoke flavor. Contrary to their slogan, the only way to get any taste from this was to sauce it up. Their sweet sauce was really good.
The Mac and Cheese was the worst I have ever attempted to eat. I mean really bad. I appeared to have been made many days prior. One of those microwavable cups of Kraft would have been a far better choice. I threw most of it away.
Hard to believe how difficult it is to find good BBQ in Charleston. Don't get me started on Home Boy Team Robbery BBQ - They suck too.
Hidden gem of the city. Ultra cool atmosphere, excellent food, first class service and, thankfully, off the beaten path. Best appreciated at night when you approach through the gas lite courtyard, walk through the cozy kitchen, step down into the intimate bar, slip into the adjoining restaurant area or proceed up to the lounge rooms bathed in candlelight. As a Charlestonian, it's my go to place to impress friends, clients and dates. My only hope is that the locals don't find out about this place, which I might have just done with this review.....
As of 2-4-2015 under new management Don-Ton Services LLC. Now open 7 days per week. New owners Donald and Tonya Adams have a high standard of customer service. The expectation is to create a friendly, enjoyable place to enjoy food drinks and the company of friends in a marina setting. There will be live music on the deck throughout the summer. We invite you to come on out and enjoy the setting , friendly people and the cool breeze coming off the Stono River.

My wife and I had one of the best meals we've ever had here last weekend. I had the brick chicken which would have filled both of us - half of a chicken and a giant plate filled with beets, white sweet potatoes, carrots, and other seasonal veggies. The chicken skin was peppery and crispy, but the meat was almost melt in your mouth juicy. It was a nice dining room with very professional service - hearing the sound check over at the Pour House was kind of fun...put some James Island character into it.
Amazing! Best Mexican in town and frozen margaritas!
annac, when you declare "the lowcountry lacks service and pride in the food service industry",...oh bul%#@t. you are condemning the whole community. you can like one without insulting all the others.
After 40 years in the food service industry I can testify that most employees are motivated by pride. it aint the pay and glamor that keeps us going.
